I haven't tested this yet, but should we assume that the
tf_ctf_bonus_time cvar overrides the map setting?

[hlds_linux] Team Fortress 2 Update Available

2010-05-12 Thread Jason Ruymen
A required update for Team Fortress 2, and an optional update for Day of
Defeat: Source and the Counter-Strike: Source Beta is now available. Please
run hldsupdatetool to receive the update. The specific changes include:

Linux Dedicated Server:
- Fixed srcds_run to work properly with the Counter-Strike: Source beta
dedicated server when autoupdating.

Engine:
- Fixed the startmovie command not using the codec dialog.

Team Fortress 2:
- Fixed dropped weapons and ammo kits not being affected by explosions.
- Adding missing "+lookup" and "+lookdown" keybind options.
- Added SetCTFCaptureBonusTime tf_gamerules input to allow map authors to set
the length of crit bonus time (in seconds) for CTF captures.

Re: [hlds_linux] IPv6 Support

2010-05-12 Thread Steven Crothers
Companies shout "We aren't ready for IPv6, its not even heavily used anyway"
- when they don't realize that they are the problem. Without companies
adopting to IPv6 it won't catch on early enough.

If your server host doesn't support IPv6, Softlayer.com does and their $100
cloud server runs srcds just fine. Just food for thought that everyone can
store in the back of their head when the time comes.

I'm running MetaMod and SourceMod, with SuperLogs and HLStatsX, that
is all, and i've disabled most normal SourceMod plugs on the L4D2 servers.

I found this binary plugin, DoS Attack Fixer.

http://sourceop.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=9

I can get it to load on TF2, but not on L4D2, anyone else had any
luck getting this to work?

As I said, i'm not sure that this is the cause of it, but I have
found multiple references about A2C_PRINT dos attacks, and it sure
looks like it could be the case.

But, if anyone have any ideas as to what could cause these
intermittent freezes / disconnects, i'm all ears.

[hlds_linux] L4D1 master server problems

2010-05-12 Thread Ronny Schedel
Hello,

L4D1 servers have still the problem to reconnect to the master servers. I
suppose it is the same problem which was fixed for TF2/DOD:S but not for
L4D1. It would be nice to have a fix or workaround, instead of killing the
whole fork of servers.

Best regards

Ronny Schedel

Re: [hlds_linux] COUNTER-STRIKE: SOURCE BETA

2010-05-12 Thread Milton Ngan
The two warnings are caused by the fact that you are using -autoupdate, which
by the way doesn't work with cstrike_beta yet. -autoupdate triggers a search
for the steam binary. In this case it can't find the binary.

-autoupdate doesn't work right now because the srcds_run script assumes that
the steam package name is the same as the mod name, which is true in most
cases. But in this case the mod name is cstrike_beta and the steam package is
cssbeta. If you use -autoupdate it will download the goldsource cstrike beta
package instead.

If you install it like this:
./steam -command update -game cssbeta -dir . -verify_all
and the run it:
./src_run -game cstrike_beta -autoupdate *insert your params here *

it will download the CS:S Beta but when you run it, it will download
an old 1.6 Beta (like in someones log earlier).

But, if you install it into a folder:
./steam -command update -game cssbeta -dir beta -verify_all
and the run it in the same way, it will start normally but with these warnings:

WARNING: Failed to locate steam binary.
WARNING: Could not locate steam binary:, ignoring.

Don't know if this is the case for everyone, but installing it with
-dir . kept me from running it on Ubuntu 9.10. Don't know if it's a
bug or if I'm just doing it wrong :)

18 months is too positive.. The above site has one of the most precise
calculations. Around 300 days till IANA runs out. As you can see my
initial writing of 1.35 /8 per month has been adjusted to 1.43 allready.

I hope Alfred reads this, or someone else @ ValveHQ and starts to
understand that IPv4 will run out soon, and IPv6 isn't a hype that will
go away.

Start supporting it and find out that the current IPv6 user-base is very
willing to help with problems!

[hlds_linux] A2C_PRINT, can it DOS a server?

2010-05-12 Thread Peter Reinhold
Hi all,

I have been observing some random fallouts (all people getting
disconnects, and reconnect after 20-30 seconds) on my L4D2 servers,
and I have been trying to figure out whats causing the problem.

First thought was that the server simply was overencumbered, even
though its running at around 80% utilization when all forks are filled.

But then I observed the same behaviour just now, and at the time,
only 2 forks were populated (around 15% utilization), and what was
even stranger, a TF2 server I am also running, did the same exact
thing, and there were no players on that at all.

In the TF2 log, I could see the following.

--
Connection to Steam servers lost.
A2C_PRINT from 216.207.205.99:27011 :
No challenge for your address.A2C_PRINT from 216.207.205.98:27011 :
No challenge for your address.Connection to Steam servers successful.
VAC secure mode is activated.
--

It seems like theres an A2C_PRINT connection, which in turn causes
the server to loose connection to the Steam servers.

Am I correct in assuming that the A2C_PRINT is the cause for these
system hiccups?

And if so, are there any way to disable them? (Are they needed for anything?)

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Re: [hlds_linux] COUNTER-STRIKE: SOURCE BETA

2010-05-12 Thread Marc.B
Hej,

It appears that there are no master defined by default for CSS Beta servers.
Anyone else have this issue ? Did you add master to your cfg ?

Cheers,

Change the map or add +tv_enable 1 to your launch script.

[hlds_linux] Cant start Source TV

2010-05-12 Thread hlds
Hello,

my problem is, that I cant start Source TV on a CSS Server

In my config is this:

tv_enable 1 // SourceTV aktivieren. (1=an 0=aus) Mit status und tv_status kann
man den Port und die Verzögerung vom SourceTV-Server sehen.
tv_port 26020 // NICHT ABÄNDERN !!!
tv_name TV Server // Name des TV-Relay Servers

But when I start the Gameserver, there is no Sourve TV Relay where I can
connect with an Source TV Server.

My startscript is this:

./srcds_run -game cstrike +map de_dust -maxplayers 12 +sv_password password -ip
xx.xx.xxx.xxx -port 27050 -tickrate 100 +fps_max 600 -autoupdate

And this says HLSW to me:

11:10:46 tv_status
11:10:47 SourceTV not active.
11:10:51 tv_enable
11:10:51 "tv_enable" = "1" ( def. "0" )
  - Activates SourceTV on server.
