Mostly, they don't. You should mail directly to them and maybe refer to this

[hlds_linux] Client timed out

2011-04-17 Thread Brian Simon
I've noticed that a lot of clients keep crashing and the server displays
has timed out. Steam seems to be the culprit. Is this just the major
screwup of Friday's update, or is a malicious attack by steam?

Re: [hlds_linux] Client timed out

2011-04-17 Thread ics
The clients do not time out due to connection loss, they actually
crashed their game and thus timed out for that reason.

I suspect that the culprit relies in the 1st update, specifically in
dynamic model loading that isn't just quite complete because this looks
more of the same thing as the multicore system back in the days when it
wasn't running just quite stable.

[hlds_linux] crashes

Hi,

I've got the stable sourcemod/metamod installed, but still i get loads of
crashes on all servers i run.

Here you can see it constantly keeps crashing in the datacache.so and I have
no clue where to look further. Also did a fresh new install and that one
also still crashes after some time. Has anybody else seen these issues?

Ow and the tf_weapon_katana.ctx doesn't download with a fresh install it
seems.. had to copy it over from another install weirdly enough.

Re: [hlds_linux] crashes

2011-04-17 Thread Eric Riemers
All,

In the end together with some helpfull people from irc this issue is
resolved.

For some odd reason the updater doesn't download the models of the demo for
the demo_kabuto_model.
Go wear that had samur-eye (or the genuine) and if it crashes your server
then you might be missing those files.

I also did a verify_all on a clean install and still these files are not
present. In case you don't have them
www.lethal-zone.eu/demo_kabuto_model.zip

This resolved my random crashes.

Re: [hlds_linux] Client timed out

2011-04-17 Thread Tony Paloma
There are two separate messages. The one that says Player name timed out
is because they are no longer responding to game traffic (ex: they crashed).
The one that says Client timed out (literally that) is due to a Steam
connection problem usually on the client end but can occur en masse
occasionally when Steam goes down.
