Re: [hlds_linux] Anyone else getting spammed with Unsubscribe
I'm not sure how it works, but perhaps you could submit a unsubscribe request, and then the other guy would be able to unsub? Or he would unsub you... I have no idea, but I'm getting the idea, that it's impossible to unsubscribe (havn't tried, just read) and to block someone from the list. 2013/1/28 cmun...@cameronmunroe.com: I am getting someone trying to, I guess close out my account on the email list. Re: [hlds_linux] Anyone else getting spammed with Unsubscribe
It is possible to unsubscribe yourself, just not via the website, as that is still inaccessible. Sending an email to * hlds_linux-leave@list.valvesoftware.**com* should do the trick, according to http://www.list.org/mailman-member/node14.html (credit to John of NuclearFallout for mentioning that link a few days ago). You cannot unsubscribe someone else for fairly obvious reasons (it could be abused) As far as I know, they can block people from the list, still, but they haven't exercised that ability in quite a while. -Jeff On Mon, Jan 28, 2013 at 2:48 AM, Herover leon.l.a.niel...@gmail.com wrote: I'm not sure how it works, but perhaps you could submit a unsubscribe request, and then the other guy would be able to unsub? I posted a similar link a day before John, thank you very much :-) Just to the Windows hlds list though, guess not everyone is subscribed to both. You cannot unsubscribe someone else for fairly obvious reasons (it could be abused) You could still spoof someone's email address in the headers and send an unsubscribe message on their behalf. You won't actually unsubscribe them that way because they would have to confirm it by replying to an email they'd recieve, but it would still result in the unsubscribe spam Cameron is complaining about. It seems like someone was trying and failing to spoof my address just so that they could do that. Anyways, curious if it was only me being hated. [hlds_linux] Counter-Strike 1.6 beta server
We have begun testing of Half-Life and Counter-Strike 1.6 on OSX and Linux. In support of this we have updated the dedicated server and converted it to using the new Steampipe system. You can access the new version via Steampipe right now, it remains network compatible with older clients. To access the beta please follow the steamcmd instructions on our developer wiki, https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD, Counter-Strike 1.6 dedicated server is currently available as appid 90 (and will continue to use this appid after full release). The changes in this version are numerous (and some fixes are still in progress, I am looking at you redirect servers). Under Linux we have moved forward to GCC 4.6 (from 2.95, heh) and are using a newer OS toolchain, so please do test these binaries on your machine. - Alfred ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: https://list.valvesoftware.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux

Re: [hlds_linux] [hlds] Possible new update that is ~40 MB in size with no documentation?

Not things in general, no. That's absurd logic. We're talking specifically about one thing, and for that thing only, yes, it's not a good solution to any of the problems. As this very thread helps prove. Again, not every server admin has 24/7 access to a PC with TF2 to check updates Again, it's not interesting to talk about hypotheticals when you have a specific person with a specific problem. In this case, however he knew did know it. He knew clients were being updated and said as much. But, you don't need to be Einstein here to read my post that said Client updates are posted to the TF2 wiki to see that you don't need a TF2 client to see if there as been a client update. And as I said, if you don't have access to a server, you shouldn't really care less if the server has been updated or not. But if you do have access to a server, then you know if there's an update or not. Luckily, running a server does not require much nous. so getting timely update notifications on the mailing list is useful. That's exactly what we get though. Think about that. A lot. Now look at this thread again in light of the fact we currently get notifications about updates. Not only when they are released but a message before they are too.
