The steam binary extracted is from 2005, and it sits there forever and
does nothing.

Is this broken, out of date, or is the Steam network just farked right

- fixed hltv demos being corrupted
- fixed downloading of custom sprays from users
- increased max rate to 100k (sv_min/maxrate still apply and defaults for them
are unchanged)
- changed timing function to call clock_gettime(), this should cause more
stable frame rates

As a reminder the plan is to make this the public release later this week, and
that update will be required.

This sounds like the exploit fixed last week, make sure you update your

Crashhandler.so is our support library for the generation of crash

dumps using the google breakpad library so we get good reporting for
crashes in the field.

In console players see "Disconnect: No Steam logon"

I tried restarting the server, but it didn't fix the problem.
Restarting with -insecure doesn't prevent it either: they are still kicked
(I wonder why players need a connection to vac if the server has vac
disabled??)
The server log simply says it is a "disconnect by user", another
confirmation this shouldn't be a server side problem.

Since there are hundreds of players connecting and getting kicked by VAC
after a short time, I fear this will have a impact on server reputation,
possibly resulting in a delisting of the the IP.
Please fix it and don't count today server reputation, because it will
punish popular servers that are usually full in the morning.

Added the items for Dr. Grordbort's Victory Pack
- Fixed hatless hats not working correctly
- Fixed a display issue with team color paints
- Updated the localization files

So how many hats have they released now? You would think they would have
that figured out by now. They fixed a display issue, seems like that is
client side and not related to the server.. and updated localization
files?

What does any of that have anything to do with the server crashing?
Is there

without

testing and then just walk away from the update station and go to sleep.
Hell, i'm willing to bet it was about 85% done uploading to the content
servers about to release the update and the guy just called it a night.

And what the hell are they doing so different each time that breaks
so many

things?

Added the items for Dr. Grordbort's Victory Pack
- Fixed hatless hats not working correctly
- Fixed a display issue with team color paints
- Updated the localization files

So how many hats have they released now? You would think they would have
that figured out by now. They fixed a display issue, seems like that is
client side and not related to the server.. and updated localization
files?

What does any of that have anything to do with the server crashing?
Is there
some kind of offication change log we can have access to so we know
what has
been modified? Maybe a more in depth update info instead of just
"Added some

items". That update did much more then that..

And I still don't see why Valve bothered making a TF2 BETA if they don't
even use it.

Make code changes and document the changes, build, test test test
test test
test test test and test more, then have someone else look over the
code and
say "Oh hell that will cause a buffer overflow if you have to many
sentries!
change that to this.." then fix and test test test test more and have
more

people look into it and once all the code changes have been reviewed and
locked down send an email to the list telling everyone what has been
changed
and that there will be an update available in 1 hour of the email.
make a
build for TF2 BETA and update preferably sometime in the morning
hours so

that stuff doesn't break while you're sleeping and you wake up to broken
servers.
Keep an eye out and check statistics for how many servers are running
and
how many are updating and how many have crashed after the update etc.
Keep
an eye on the list and after a few days of absolutely NO problems
with the
new build warn the TF2 server admins that it will be released 12 PM
EST (or

w\e time) so they can be prepared.

Isn't that just common sense? Who the hell would build an artificial
heart
for their father and just give it to him without testing it out
first. Hell

he may of forgot battery.c

[hlds_linux] TF2 servers staying empty

2011-07-10 Thread Anthony Stoyanov

Hey,

Since I'm new to the whole tf2 server hosting (hosted only 1.6 servers),
is it normal servers to stay empty?
I'm currently hosting 4 TF2 server, all of 'em 24 slots, 2 with standard
valve maps and one with dustbowl 24/7 and the other with
goldrush/badwater 24/7.

I started hosting them about a week before the free-2-play stuff came
out. After that they were full almost all day for a couple a days, and
currently only one manages to get full.

I was just wondering if that was normal, since ping's fine, no lag, fps
is ... meh... stable. I've also registered them in the matchmaking system.

Ok. Found the problem. Apparently someone flooded the machine and the

By the way, using this "topic".

For a couple of hours now, servers (on linux) keep freezing for 2-3
minutes, and than get fixed by themselves.

This message pops out:

[hlds_linux] Low srcds FPS

2011-03-30 Thread Anthony Stoyanov

Hey,

I know there are quite a few threads, about srcds server FPS, I read
most of them, but none helped.
I'm running a source orangebox server, with 31 slots. Everything's fine
until about 26-27 players. FPS is fairly stable @ around 800-900, but
when they get 29+, FPS drops drastically to about 60-70.

The server is running with sourcemod, plugins:

02 "Admin File Reader" (1.3.6) by AlliedModders LLC
03 "Basic Votes" (1.3.6) by AlliedModders LLC

I tried disabling some of the plugins (hlxstats, kigen, quake sounds) -
it didn't help.

Server specs:

4 GB ram.
100mbit connection

Server's running with -pingboost 3 and -tickrate 100 (also tried
-tickrate 66 and -pingboost 2) - same.

Rates are from reece-eu's website. Also tried them with "0" (infinity).

[hlds_linux] Lag spikes

2011-03-14 Thread Anthony Stoyanov

Hey,

For a couple of hours now (15-16) there are strange lag spikes in my
servers. Every 5-6-7 minutes, server (& players) freeze for 1-4 seconds.
2 machine -> 2 different providers -> same problem. The machines are
fine, no flood, ping's fine. My only logical explanation is that they're
all connected to steam and that's causing the spikes.

update from yesterday wasn't that big.
Maybe its doing some verify_all from its own during that phase or something
similar.

Not the end of the world ofcourse, but if 1 server is back up and players
join they could complain.. ;p

p.s. just standard 7200 rpm disks do about 100mb/s, so should be
sufficient.

[hlds_linux] Flood/exploit or something

2011-01-25 Thread Anthony Stoyanov

Hey guys,

For the last 2-3 days my server has been flooded quite a lot. I put up a
firewall (APF), but it didn't really help (actually it made things
worst). Some kind of map something error and server freezes. Never mind
about that.
So, ping gets up to 500-1000 and that's it. No logs, nothing. I actually
notice that a new player joints, but he doesn't come out in status so
that i can see his IP.

 Perhaps something in Slackware then?

2010-09-14 Thread Anthony Stoyanov
Positive it's not hardware. I've got 6 different machines (all of them
running slackware), and on each one of them i get this error.

[hlds_linux] ./hlds_run: line 321: 8644 Segmentation fault $HL_CMD

2010-09-14 Thread Anthony Stoyanov
Ok. Since the last MAJOR update (protocol 47 to protocol 48) (a year and a
half has passed since then), I'm constantly getting these kind of errors:

./hlds_run: line 321: 8644 Segmentation fault $HL_CMD

I've read 1/2 the internet to find a solution AND nothing!!!

Using: slackware 13.0, 32 bit, latest build (tried even 5006 build). Tested
it with/without amx/metamod, always the same error. Come on now. Is it that
complicated to fix this error? How come i didn't get any of these, while the
servers were still running @ 47 protocol.
