[hlds_linux] ipv6?

Does srcds support ipv6? (I'm guessing it does not). Anyone have it
running with IPv4IPv6 translation hacks?

[hlds_linux] sv_lan 0 busted?

2014-03-18 Thread Foo Bar
Hi,

A friend and I are trying to connect to each other's listen servers for
testing, over the Internet.

We create a server, set sv_lan 0, but receive LAN servers are restricted
to local clients (class C)..

We're seeing this in HL2DM, CS:S and Source MP. I've also tried setting my
IP, and port forwards are good.

I know this has worked before - I used to do this all the time. Anyone
know why this is suddenly not working or if there's additional steps that
need to be taken?

Thanks

Agreed. Virtualbox works well. It is not an option in this environment
unfortunately. If spinning up a windows instance was an option, I wouldn't

Wine is good enough for time it will be needed. No disagreement that it
sucks to have to do it, however.

It's just a woraround and not a solution. We don't like to run wine on
 dedicated servers.

As a follow up in case it helps someone else: In the end I've ended up

 useless.

  * Install vnc4server for X support (required as -console wants an X

  * Install Wine 1.7 from http://www.winehq.org/download
  * VNC in to the new X vnc console
  * Install (Source SDK Base 2006 MP dedicated server) app_id 205
  using steamcmd
  * Plunk the game mod in, and run it as normal.

So far it's proving to be stable and is also running Metamod and

The only issue I'm having is not being able to use -console, but I'll

Oh, I just noticed that 204 is deleted according to
http://steamdb.info/app/204/ but 205 (the win32 version) is still
 present.

 Clues appreciated!

 Thanks

[hlds_linux] hl2:ctf / sdk2006 steampipe update steamcmd says no sub on app id 204

2013-10-18 Thread Foo Bar
Happy Friday!

Earlier this week SDK2006 was upgraded to Steampipe. Since then we're
seeing:

SteamStartValidatingUserIDTicket: Returned ESteamError 25

on our HL2:CTF 2.1 (which was greenlit by the way, woo!) server, and a
STEAM validation rejected in game. This appears to be happening to some,
but not all players.

I figure it's time to do an update on the server using steamcmd. There
isn't an explicit AppID that I can see for HL2:CTF but I decided to try
appid 204 (Source Dedicated Server).

Trying to install appid 204 yields ERROR! Failed to install app '204' (No
subscription)

./steamcmd.sh +login anonymous +force_install_dir ../hlds2/ +app_update 204
validate +quit
Redirecting stderr to '/home/hl2ctf/Steam/logs/stderr.txt'

Steam Console Client (c) Valve Corporation
-- type 'quit' to exit --
Loading Steam3...OK.
Loading Steam2...OK.

Connecting anonymously to Steam Public...Success.
ERROR! Failed to install app '204' (No subscription)

This occurs with or without the validate option.

If I login to a steam account, I see:

ERROR! Failed to install app '204' (Invalid platform)

I've also read of a client side work around that was used for Blackmesa (
http://forums.blackmesasource.com/showthread.php?p=561205) and it also
includes the steps above, but it ain't working for me.

Re: [hlds_linux] Screen shots and automagically correlating them with map names

2013-08-04 Thread Foo Bar
Ah ha!. The jpeg console command does exactly what I want. It saves a
jpeg as mapname_sequence in the game's screenshots directory.

Doesn't Steam already correlate which map it is if you use the Steam

I know it tags maps on images you upload from TF2 using the screenshot
tool, but maybe that's a TF2-only thing. Specifically, it shows up in the
LOCATION field in your Steam screenshots... and it works even on custom
 maps.

As far as I know screen shots are only named -MM-DD_sequence.

I figure some sort of overlay hack could be used, but I dislike this idea.
I could also setup a bind that executes a server side command to log the
current date, but I'd still have to manually correlate the time stamps of
when the screen shot was taken and the actual screen shot filename. I
don't think there'd be a way to capture the generated screen shot name
 either.

 Any ideas?

AFAICT It only correlates it to the game - I don't see a reference to the
actual map the screenshot was being taken with (I am using the F12 steam
overlay method).

Re: [hlds_linux] Mandatory CS:S, DoD:S, and HL2:DM updates released

2013-06-25 Thread Foo Bar
Hello,

I've seen some comments in the h2ldm steam group about the game being
extremely laggy on servers that are high latent to the player. I've just
witnessed this myself playing on a server in Australia (I'm in Canada)
that's normally pretty playable for me with a 200 ms ping (as reported by
status).

What changed?

How about the random Half-Life 2 update? Some folks got a 3.7gb update
while others got a 730mb. And now all audio in our game is in Korean O.o

[hlds_linux] VAC and hl2dm

2013-05-26 Thread Foo Bar
Hello!

Today I observed a player connected and playing in a HL2DM server with VAC
enabled, but the player is listed on http://www.vacbanned.com/ as being
banned.

This has me wondering if VAC is really supported in HL2DM? I sort of
remember hearing that VAC wasn't really supported by hl2dm but it's a very
vague recollection.

Thanks
