I have a HL2DM server also running Linux that has been crashing every hour
since the last update. Really weird, it restarts at 15 passed every hour. I
believe it is also on a amd system. I will find out for sure though.

Re: [hlds_linux] pre-match and spectate cvar's in HL2DM

2005-04-05 Thread Phoenix
Thanks for the response. I will look into mani-mod. Those cvar's are
not valid in HL2DM though... at least they do not work for me. I have
used those or the equivalent of them in CS servers and even TFC, but I
can't get anything to work with HL2DM.

Does anyone else have any suggestions? Perhaps maybe Alfred wouldn't
mind shedding some light on this?

Thanks

I think you need to check out some forums and maybe install something like =
 Mani Mod.
regardless of using on of the mods in match mode, you can always do it the =
 old fashioned way:
 First, make mp_autoteambalance 0. then, mp_limitteams 0 Then people can=
join the team they need to without being autoteamed to the wrong one. and =
if 3 guys for one clan show up and there is only one from the other, the l=
imitteams 0 will make it so they can join the proper teamright away.
then after everyone has joined and is ready for match start you can simply=
 do mp_restartgame 5
where 5 is the number of seconds before it restarts. It resets the time an=
 d the scores.

Does anyone know of anyway to enable prematch or enabling spectators in HL2=

If not I hope these can be added soon. It is a real pain in the @ss to star=

[hlds_linux] Players timing out

I have been seeing weird things since the last update. As reported before there
have been many random crashes of HL2MP Linux servers, I also have seen this

Half my server emptied out, a bunhc of players timing out at the same time.
This was half way through a map, not on map change which also happens alot...
Any ideas what is causing this?
The server will be going along fine, gameplay is nice, and out of no where a
bunch of people will timeout and drop. This doesn't happen constantly but it
does happen now and then. I have never seen this before, until the last update.
When this happens I have seen no ping spikes or anything... they just drop.

Thanks

Re: [hlds_linux] Linux Seg Fault

2005-03-01 Thread Phoenix

 Hi
all, I have a linux server which keeps seg faulting on a
certain map, typically when the map gets full at 16 players. It seg
faults about every 15 minutes when full but it can stay up longer. I
have a feeling there is something this map uses that is causing the
server to crash - but the map should not be able to crash the server so
it is likely there is some sort of bug in the source ds. It happens
with this map on multiple servers, some which are not mine also - so I
am fairly certain it is nothing hardware related. This particular
server is Fedora Core 1 with latest updates. If someone from valve
contacts me offlist I can provide server login info if they need
it. Basically, the server will crash and restart.
Here is what the logs show (stripped steam ids): File

basically, I'm stuck with an annoying crash and no idea whats causing
it. This was happening before and after the last steam update. Any
insight would be appreciated! -Dave
My HL2MP Linux server is also crashing, for no
reason. I never had a problem until the last update.
It usually seems to happen on the new map steamlab
(everytime I have witnessed it anyway). I am not
running any plugins or anything. This is a straight default setup... except for maps. My log
files end like yours,
so I have not been able to figure out what is
causing it.

Are there any plans to fix the server logging in HL2DM to show what weapons
people are using? Right now the server logs just say, player a killed player
b,
there is no detail at all. When I look in my console while playing the game, it
has full detail though. Can this detail be added to the server logs or maybe
I am just missing a cvar or something to add more detail?

Thanks
