RE: [hlds_linux] TF2 linux at 100 tic shows as 66 tic

2007-11-08 Thread Theo Macris
Can someone send me the IP to their 100 Tic Linux server and also include
your start command. I do not seem to be able to do anything that will
actually make mine run at 100 tic. "Net_graph 3" always shows it capping at
68.5 IN and about 39 OUT.

I'll have to play with my server a bit if you haven't figured it out
already. I set it up at 66 tick so I haven't tried pushing it past
that.

[hlds_linux] TF2 linux at 100 tic shows as 66 tic

2007-11-05 Thread Theo Macris
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
I am starting the server with a 100 tickrate and yet it still reports back
at 66 tickrate by mani in the server announcements. If this is just mani
being silly, then how do I set this variable? I couldn't find it anywhere.

"mani_tickrate" = "67" ( def. "" )
 notify replicated
 - Server tickrate information

So, 2 questions. Is there a commandline I can use to query the tickrate and
why is this coming up as 66 tic server when my startline is as follows?
./srcds_run -game tf -autoupdate -tickrate 100 +map cp_dustbowl +maxplayers
23 -port 27080

Well I am no really sure. I just know that if I re-attach to the screen
session the console says "game will restart on map change". If I issue a
changelevel command I can watch it stop, update, and then restart. I assume
if there were players in it then it would do this automatically?? Guess I
will have to be there when it happens, that means I will have to play a
bunch of tf2...poor me :)

[hlds_linux] map timer scrds_tf2

scrds_tf2
Hey sorry if this is stupid, but I don't know what the setting is that will
set the maximum time the server will remain on a map. I have "mp_timelimit
30" but this doesn't seem to have any effect if the server is empty. I need
the server to rotate regardless if full or empty so that it can receive the
updates as they are pushed out. Otherwise it gives people a message that the
client/server have different versions. Is there any way to set this?

I don't really get how this works. I set it high (1000) and I got around
333. I set it to 0 and it said I was getting 46-48. I think my hardware and
bandwidth can handle anything I throw at it so I really wanted to get this
optimized. Can someone explain server fps and what I need to do to get the
server pumping? As it is, nobody complains and it seems to run fine, but you
know how it goes, I want to be sure it is the best it can be.I am setting
fps_max in server.cfg, but I have seen others do it on the start script.
Where does it belong?

I did not play TFC. So far my only real complaint is that there is no
accurate weapons other than the sniper. It seems they all have an element of
randomness added to them that even if you are sitting still and crouched you
cannot put a bullet in the same place 3 times in a row. While not a
showstopper for me, it would be really nice if they would add this to the
pistols or something. Maybe I can mod them to shoot straight? That seems
like an easy thing to do. Anyway I would like to hear others thoughts.

I would love if someone would post the contents of their server.cfg
All's I have in mine is hostname and rcon password. :{
I am new to the game so I dont even know what the cvars I see in HLSW are
controlling.
Anyway if anyone has a good working cfg, be a pal and post some of the
goodies and what they do.

Thanks, that worked. Now I just have to get a working server.cfg, can anyone
post a sample? Got it started and 15 minutes later it is 20/20 full and I
cannot even get in :)

No such luck here either. From /orangebox/ I ran this, but it is just
sitting there, I cannot connect to it or anything.
 ./srcds_run -debug -game tf -tickrate 100 -map cp_dustbowl +maxplayers 20
-port 27080
Auto detecting CPU
Using SSE2 Optimised binary.
Enabling debug mode
Auto-restarting the server on crash

Console initialized.
Game.dll loaded for "Team Fortress"
Particles: Missing 'particles/error.pcf'
maxplayers set to 24
maxplayers set to 20
Unknown command "startupmenu"
Network: IP 12.180.49.210, mode MP, dedicated Yes, ports 27080 SV / 27006 CL

As of Monday morning ./steam -command update -game "tf" -dir

reports that installation is up to date and yet there is no srcds_run or
srcds of any kind and no server.cfg etc. As soon as someone gets a server up
