Re: [hlds_linux] Message to Alfred Reynolds

2004-02-07 Thread Christian Ingholt
Hi Michael,

I know, thats why the "sentinel projekt" stoped, it was based on a "master server" og
more for updates and the it woud have cost alot of money and alot of hardwork to keep
it DoS free with continious monitoing the servers and acces to accces listing tools
and a hardend firewall. not talking about the money issue, but the base and a working
model was made but as long as the trafic prices and the terror of DoS or other hacking
fear are there its not a option for us admins to run on a zero cost function,
valve/steam have a great tool in steam to develop somthing of the same ? the idear is
there and its just to do it (as the nike commercials)

If you have spare trafic and some cpu power you dont use and want to help out
www.hltv.org in setting you hltv servers so we can expand on the us marked we woud be
glad to help setting them you for remote control via our remote tools and sql database
and also keep them up2date and so, but thats somthing else, feel free to write me if
you want to step in to the seene of hltv.org :)

Best regards
Christian Ingholt

Alfred,
The optimalisations you did sound great, on Aztec such a small

load for such a slow CPU.
I would love to test it aswell, can you release the .so file
unofficially or will you wait until the next release? There is

a HUGE demand for it so most people wont mind it being buggy
as long these high load times are fixed.

Seriously, give these people some slack. Software development hits
road bumps sometimes that causes unpredictable amounts of debugging
time. Something like painting a house can be estimated...software
development often cannot.

Give these guys a break. I for one am happy to see any improvements
to the linux binary even if set back a little while.

RE: [hlds_linux] Message to Alfred Reynolds

2004-02-02 Thread Chris Meisinger
Alfred,

I can't tell you Thanks enough for working on this problem. I'm honestly
not expecting a 100% fix with the first release, no one should, but this
shows us (The Community), that you guys truly are listening to our gripes
and doing something about it. This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
=)

Thanks!

Chris

That map is a high load map, even it if it had 20 bugs or no bugs. Just
puts a strain on the servers for whatever reason.
