Even Valve's own Steam Statistics page (http://store.steampowered.com/stats/) stopped logging at 9:44 AM (US/Pacific time presumably) - with a few major .. eh ... The beta patch was for HLDS. TF2 supposedly had it patched officially as of March 19, 2009, 5:20 pm. *Server changes* - Fixed players being kicked from servers with an INVALID_STEAM_TICKET rejection - Added a message to the server console to show when the server has reconnected to Steam http://store.steampowered.com/news/?filter=updates&appids=440 On Wed, Apr 1, 2009 at 8:55 AM, Daniel Duarte wrote: > There is a beta patch, the final fix was supposed to come right after that > but we are still waiting... my provider wont use beta patches :/ > > > > > On Wed, Apr 1, 2009 at 3:32 AM, 1nsane <1nsane...@gmail.com> wrote: > > > Same here. UPS equipment has a limited uptime. Depending on the amount of servers connected on the UPS. Yes, it would keep the servers online a bit longer, but can you tell the storm to lie down within that period? Is your server on an UPS? (ofcourse you will say yes, cause we can't verify it. I'm not saying that they can control a storm. What I'm saying is that if you are building an authentication system used by hundreds of thousands of people, 24/7/365, in every continent in the world, wouldn't it be a good idea to have a mirror up somewhere else? According to the steam forums this is what they did to get Steam up and running this weekend anyway. I feel a bit bad as in the UK this storm isn't being reported at all and I've heard that 4 people have died in it from Google world news, so I might just duck out of this after this post. We run a DC ourselfs (well i'm eployed at an ISP with a huge DC). With pre-messures as 300 linked accu's(for first 30sec of an outages) and 4 huge diesel generators, we still suffer outages from time to time due to unforseen weather conditions. May it be extreem hot weather, may it be extreem storms etc. Even redundant ciruits can blow up both at the same time. Hi ! We have a steam timeout or something over here in europe, and its have been like this now for 3,5 hours or more ! I made a search how many servers were populated and come to 53 dayofdefeat:source servers with 2 - 32 players, and thats all dod:s servers, not only europe. So I guess its affects almost all of us ! If the hosting company I using does this to me, then I get money back ! What will steam do for us now then they is making us unable to play our games on our own servers ? How will Valve react on this ? Is Steam not responsible for theirs acts ? I personally lay no blame on valve for not being able to handle an outside attack, I don't think they had that in mind when designing their system, and even if they did have it in mind, there isn't much you can do about a DOS attack (unless you have control of a higher level router- which I don't think they do). Regardless, it sucks that I can't get to my server (through the steam client) and it sucks that I can't play CS through steam. Of course, then again, how do we know valve is getting DOS attacked?
