I see about 1 every 2-4 weeks from this list. But on my registered email
address. I have my own domain, however, my email is handled by google. So
google might be blocking most of them. But if that were the case, they
should be blocking them for you also.

Oh, before I started using google I was getting 100+ spams every day. Now I
only get 1 every few days.

Not 501 or 499 but 500fps.. once in a while.. otherwise it's 1000fps stable.

 Hello,

Has someone succeed to get a stable 1000fps hlds on a core2duo ?
I tryed a lot of different kernel configurations but I never achieve to
get FPS close to 1000 for a long time.

 Here what I've already tested (64bits) :
 Kernel 2.6.24.5 default
 Kernel 2.6.24.5 1000HZ
 Kernel 2.6.27.4 1000HZ No preempt
 Kernel 2.6.27.4 1000HZ preempt
 Kernel 2.6.27.4 1500HZ preempt (With USER_HZ=1500)
 Kernel 2.6.26.6 1000HZ preempt + RT patch

Neither of those kernels achieve to get a stable +/- 900 fps except for
 the RT kernel :

 CPU InOut Uptime Users FPSPlayers
 71.00 0.00 0.00 15 2 930.23 0
 stats
 CPU InOut Uptime Users FPSPlayers
 70.00 0.00 0.00 15 2 855.43 0

BUT 70% CPU without players !

Other kernels cause some drops to 300FPS.

 I think that my box (c2duo 2x2Ghz) simply can't compute 1000fps for
HLDS... I think that it is only possible on a Xeon/Opteron CPU.
Am I wrong ? Did someone succeed to get 1000fps on other than a server
 class CPU (ie Xeon/Opteron) ?

I think he ment that srcds on Linux, especially Orangebox engine
performs better on Windows than on Linux. No matter how good you tune up
your system, Windows runs better and more slots than Linux on same
hardware. Besides, TF2 doesn't support 100 tickrate servers or 33, only
66 which is default now.

Re: [hlds_linux] (SPAM) -Re: srcds_i686 for orangebox?

2008-06-05 Thread Nephyrin Zey
I've done extensive amounts of tweaking.

The difference between 100hz non-HPET 100 fps_max
and
1000hz preeempt_rt + preemptable RCU with full HPET and even a special
plugin that reduces the time the server sleeps on each frame loop
is the difference between 70-85% CPU and 85-100% CPU on a 2.13GHz
kentsfield core

The reason linux FPS is much more stable/tweakable is because you can
change so many aspects of the kernel timer/interrupts/HPET, while
windows runs in a single ~66hz mode that is turned up by the 'media
timer' by media apps like WMP or by special programs like
'srcdsfpsboost'

You can get 70k+ FPS in windows with a special fpsbooster that
decouples the frame loop from timer interrupts.

So while the linux kernel can be tweaked more for the servers, the
linux version of the software in general just runs worse.

Never ask someone NOT to do something on this list :p

There are certain giveaways that reveal the true noob/unintelligent
nature of some people. That certainly is one of them. I love it when
people actually participate in a huge flame war, ending with an epic
post, dripping with venom, spite, hate, and general negativity, and then
say something incredibly stupid like, nobuddy repsond to this
