Hi!

On our servers VAC won't turn on. SRCDS can't connect to the steam servers..
and..

netconnectionbuffer.cpp (241) : Assertion Failed: cubReadRemaining == 0

the error appears pretty regularly.. we've tested with and without plugins..
the error remains.

3 of our servers are also VACless so i take it that VAC servers are once
again down. If VAC goes down, servers should automatically connect back
to it when its up but maybe there should be a manual command which
admins could use to connect to vac servers. How frequently the servers
are trying to connect now?

version : 1.0.0.34/7 3140 insecure (secure mode enabled, disconnected
from Steam3)
We also get that same error in console time to time which is

Same here, 2 of 4 servers are insecure, both insecure are Source servers.
There is also a crash bug with Source servers when it lose the VAC
connection. This should be fixed too.

I'm actually seeing the same thing happening out of our 3140 servers as
well, with the same errors, and they do not seem to reconnect to VAC. I
was just about to throw in a report myself until I saw this thread.

Popping open tcpdump didn't seem to show any communications attempted to
anything identifying itself as a Valve server upon startup.A bit later
on it did, but nothing that brought up anything of consequence.

i'm getting the same problem with a friends server (the one i asked
about the 64bit support for) as i have now been asked to take it on as a
support admin full time. my windows boxes and private linux test server
are fine. vac on the server in question has been out all day so far and
i can't get it to come back up

after the june 12 update my server started reporting the following
assert message:

utlmemory.h (314) : Assertion Failed: IsIdxValid(i)

i don't know how often this assertion was triggered, but the 'screen'
the server runs in did only show these assert messages.
the same assert message is reported when running the june 13 update.

the dod:s server that runs on the same physical server doesn't report
any assert message except the usual net.cpp ones on start.


another thing that's new to me on my server are the small lags you get
while playing on the server.
i already tried the net_queued_packet_thread 0/1 cvar without any huge
difference.

the server is running at a constant frame rate of about 250 fps, with
and without players.

CPU   InOut   Uptime  Users   FPSPlayers
 0.00  0.00  0.003335 6  249.81   0

version : 1.0.0.34/7 3140 secure


the third thing i've noticed using hlsw, the pings to the cs:s and dod:s
server are very different though both servers run on the same physical
server.
the cs:s server jumps in it's pings all over the range from 20 to 150 ms
where the dod:s server is relatively stable at about 20-30 ms.
is it possible that this behavior is somehow linked to the above
mentioned lags?

OS: debian sarge 3.1
CPU: pentium 4 3.0 ghz (hyper threading enabled)
RAM: 2gb dual channel

player's chat text or their own.

I have a client that hasn't been updated yet (3137) and it can see
everything.

Here is the problem specifically:

The problem is that they relesed a client update to .. not tested with the

HL2DM clients can see server chat messages only, they can't see other
player's chat text or their own.

I have a client that hasn't been updated yet (3137) and it can see
everything.

Maybe I am just slow, but I am confused by the pure stuff.
I want clients to download any needed files if they have something wrong.
But it seems the options are warn and kick.

From what I read I need sv_pure 1, but what do I set sv_pure_kick_clients
to?

sv_pure_kick_clients = 1
 - If set to 1, the server will kick clients with mismatching files.
Otherwise, it will issue a warning to the client.

Another thing.  The wiki sort of gives examples of the whilelist file, but
an example posted to this list has this format:
whitelist
{
models\... allow_from_disk+check_crc
sounds\... allow_from_disk+check_crc
scripts\...allow_from_disk+check_crc
}

The wiki does not indicate you should use whitelist{}?  Which is it?  I have
the beta but a pure_server_whitelist.txt file was not put on my server.

One last thing.  I only host custom maps.  Would this be valid?
