Now that was an interesting post!
"u cannot disable a 3rd party app running completely besides cs ."
u know why? Because i'm thinking how to completely stop cheating (i mean the
"real ones", like aim or wh).
And it's almost impossible now, just because 3rd parties can be executed
beside of CS:S. I will try it, but i think if a cheat runs the ds app, then
it's parent app. will be the cheat app.
Well... i'm just thinking-thinking :)

u cannot disable a 3rd party app running completely besides cs .
mp_forcechacecam 1 or what ever setting is was... Problem solved

hi all,
I read an idea on a forum that ventrilo should be disabled somehow on CS:S
game servers.
The reason was -and i think it's a right one- that ventrilo can be used as
a
cheat on public servers, or, if a spect. is enabled "just to see the war"
it
can be used on a war server too.
This is because, ventrilo works even if the player is dead or in spect. so
the cheater can report the opponents' move.
Hard task to disable it, 1st, because it's a 3rd party software, and 2nd,
ventrilo is not the only audio communication software (even MS MSN can be
used to cheat like that).
Any ideas, suggestions?
My idea is to disable moving through the map if the player is in spect or
dead. But it's not a nice move (on public srv), because dead moods can't
do
anything, just sit at their boxes seeing the last picture they saw before
they died...
Cheers,
The Fool

'Ghosting'. Gotcha ;)
My english is not perfect. thx nfo ;)
Well, i have no sleepless nights because of that. As i wrote, i saw it on a
forum and it made me think on it a few minutes.
And because i found no solution in that time, i took it up here for a plan
:)

Most leagues embrace 3rd party apps both because they can't really stop
their use and because it's a brilliant communications tool. On pub
servers "ghosting", as it's often called, is not usually very cool, but
if you catch people doing it, and you're really confident it's the case,
then ban them or warn them or whatever. It's not a big enough deal to
lose sleep over or anything.

Well. Voicecomm. is forced on my public, but what if the guy mutes all the
players?
Anyway, you are probably right. If you tell not to do, they may stop doing
it.

well, you could force voice comm, and there'd be contention for the
mic if you tried to use ventrillo unless you had more than one sound
card. I don't think there's really much point in ventrillo with games
that already have built-in voice comm, but try telling that to
die-hard ventrillo users. It does indeed allow ghosting, but I don't
think it's that big of a problem. At least not on our server. Even
when I've seen people doing it they've stopped when asked. Usually
something along the lines of "c'mon guys, it's just a pub server for
fun, what's the point of what you're doing. Just play," is enough to
get them to stop.
Forcing chasecam doesn't really solve the problem completely either.
You can still tell people where you were and who was there, etc, when
you shouldn't be able to say anything at all.

Hi,

The use of Ventrilo/Teamspeak and others 3rd-party voice-comm makes
Internet playing more like LAN playing.
LAN speaking, when a player dies, he tells his mates where, why, how, and
some insults. With the built-in voice-comm, it's not possible, where it is
with Ventrilo :)
It's not a cheat, it's to "enhance playing experience" ;-)

And on public servers, when you come with 3-4 friends with Ventrilo, you
get some fun that cannot be reproduced without voice-comm :]
Finally, built-in voice-comm just sux :p
