dir when a gameserver is started.
And that file didn't get updated when i updated dods.

Kind Regards

Re: [hlds_linux] Problems with DoD:Source

2008-12-11 Thread Crazy Canucks
Let's see if this works this time (I'm having ISP issues).

AMD Athlon XP 1700+
1GB PC2100 DDR SDRAM

Debian Etch 32 bit
Kernel: 2.6.23.17 custom

I think you are onto something with that WOOD directory. I would delete
that if I were you. I have one folder "wood" (lower case). Basically I
would just delete any folders with uppercase names and run the Steam
update again with -verifyall.

I don't believe I have any folders with uppercase names anywhere in my
dod directory.

My configs are in the "dod/cfg" folder.
The dod folder is in "srcds_l/orangebox".

This is my server.cfg.

I don't have DOD:S to test it with, but I threw a dods on my VM if you want to
take a look for yourself. This being a plane vanilla dod:s server with NO
addons.

Here's the output of the startup:

This being on a 32-bit CentOS 5.2 install. I only have 1 wood directory,
specifically it's dod/materials/wood (all lowercase).

This being installed from your posted install line below. IP is
157.238.213.185:27019 so you can see for yourself (again, I don't own DODS, so
I can't check).

Hope this helps.

What distro are you using?
32/64-bit?
Hardware?

Do you have both these dirs

 dod/materials/wood/
 dod/materials/WOOD/

What files is in your cfg folder?

And how does your server.cfg look like?

Kind Regards

I just ran ./steam -command update -game dods -dir . -verify_all as the
user that runs the gameserver.
Still the same problem.
And the user owns ALL files both as user and group.

Could anyone try download dods and see if they get the same errors?

inside the folders inside the folder inside the folders, all the way
down to the root, are chmodded 755? I've had inherited permissions like
that completely screw me up and cause some really odd problems.

How about all others? How does your dir looks like?

Kind regards

I've had this problem once. The HLDSupdatetool crashed too soon and the game
was missing files. I ran it with -verifyall and it was fine.

Re: [hlds_linux] Problems with DoD:Source

2008-12-10 Thread xLnT

The TF2 folder is working as it should. And it has the same permissions.
The user that runs the gameserver has read permisions on all files.
As the TF2 has.

So again. Don't think it could be about permissions. Since the files it
complains about doesn't exists.
They shouldn't exists either becouse they don't get downloaded when i
try to update my server.

Kind Regards.

Re: [hlds_linux] Problems with DoD:Source

2008-12-10 Thread jps . sgtrock
It's very rare, but I have seen corrupted files show up in installations in
the past. If that is what's happened here, I'd recommend trying two things
to attempt to clear it up:

First, delete InstallRecord.blob and re-run the update. If that works,
you're golden.

If that fails, delete InstallRecord.blob and move or rename your DoD:S
subdirectory out of the directory structure for the Source engine. That
will force a complete re-install while preserving your configuration files
and any additional maps that you may have added.

Probably what you want to do is "chown -R [user]:[group] [your server
directory], as Steam places fairly strict permissions on the files it
creates.

Re: [hlds_linux] Problems with DoD:Source

2008-12-10 Thread Crazy Canucks
I may be wrong, but that does look suspiciously like a permissions
problem to me. Make sure the user you run your server under either owns
all the server files, or has the proper permissions. If that user owns
the files, you will need to use su or sudo to update your server so that
your user owns the files that are download.

well if the files dont exist on the server - thats why you can walk through
them, its the server who is in control and you will have errors until you
get them their !
its the same files that you have in your game-dir on windows .. you can copy
them .. but something is wrong .. might be the way you launch the game ..

Hope u find a way

I checked it out. It looks like you can walk through some of the static
props like the big rocks. For reference, it was on dod_avalance and I was a
U.S. Army Rifleman.

However, I started my own server and it didn't happen. Something's up on
your end.

Players cannot walk into the skybox. Skybox is a texture like any other
wall. It just reflects the sky (or something else too if its a 3dskybox)
and seals the player inside the level. Definitely not a map maker
problem. Some things may be func_illusionary or something transparent
though and could be walked through.
