[Hornlist] Stolen Horn in Florida
Hello Everyone, Last night my colleague in the Orlando Philharmonic, Kevin Brooks, was the victim of a thief and his horn and laptop were stolen from his truck. The occured in Monteverde, Lake County, about 30 miles west of Orlando. The horn is a Conn8DRS in an Osmun detachable bell case, the kind in which the cone for the bell zippers on to the rest of the case. The bell has had the laquer removed and looks very raw. There is a black Giardinelli handguard. There are 3 mouthpieces in the case, a Lawson 660, Stork M3 and Stork M5. Serial # is unknown. Please forward this message to any horn players in Florida that you know. Kevin's cell phone number is 407-468-0772 Thanks, Carolyn Blice **Need a new ride? Hi Everybody, In all the discussion about the devices used to help hold the horn, nobody has mentioned the Ergohorn support system. I saw Kerry Turner use this device in Spain this summer and I ordered one after I got back. I am old enough to have some arthritis, I play professionally, and this has proved to be worth its weight in gold for me. This item is not cheap, but I no longer have the pain in my left hand and forearm and the weight of the horn is gone. [Hornlist] Vote for AHQ on NPR!
Hello All, I received this email from Charlie Putnam of the American Horn Quartet. Let's rally and get the AHQ lots of votes! I need your help.actually your vote. I sent one of our horn quartet CDs into NPR radio so that they would hopefully use it as an interlude during their news shows. Instead, they have posted it on one of their sites call "open mic" where they feature songs from unknown pop and jazz groups that people can vote on. I don't think they have ever put a classical album much less brass music or Horns on this site before so we are not exactly in the right venue. In any case, we need some high votes. If you can copy and paste this link onto your browser, it will take you right to the link.. http://www.npr.org/programs/asc/openmic/index.php?episode=current otherwise log onto NPR.orgthen on the top section that shows NPR programming, you will find (under music) "all songs considered" , once on that page click on "open mic" and there we are...and we need your vote. Voting stops on Tuesday. Thanks, Charlie ___ post: [EMAIL PROTECTED] set your options at http://music.memphis.edu/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org

Hello All, This is in response to Russ Smiley's request for information about starting a Horn Club. Ours is not exactly a club, but it it sponsored by one of our local colleges. It is open to any one who is a capable player. The college music dept. has paid for much of the music that we use and individual members have also purchased some works they wish for us to play. The parent of one of the students in the ensemble made a generous donation for the purchase of music. We rehearse in the college chapel nearly every Monday for 2 hours and will present a concert there on April 4th at 7:30 pm (Anyone still in the Central Florida area for spring break is invited!) We also perform at the annual Winter Park Bach Festival. We recently set up a website - http://members.aol.com/HornsRFun Hope this helps a little.
