[HOT] Thimpu Thromde Data Import

2016-06-17 Thread Megha Shrestha
Hello All,

I am Megha Shrestha from Kathmandu Living Labs. We have a local mapping
project with HOT, we are going to conduct in Thimpu, Bhutan. The project
involves training to youth and as well as government officials from GIS
department of Thimpu city. They have requested us to import existing
dataset into OSM. According to OSM import guideline one of the requirement
is to contact a local OSM community. The problem here is that there is no
existing OSM community in Bhutan but rather a group of GIS professional.
One of the goals of this project is to create a sustainable OSM community
in Bhutan who can take the work further independently. I would like to ask
for comments about this import before proceeding to the imports mailing
list" or equivalent, because we know there isn't a Bhutan OSM local
community yet, and we just need (if possible) to gather input before
proceeding to the imports mailing list.

The wiki link to the Thimpu Throne dataset import is here:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Bhutan/Thimphu_Thromde_data_import

Thanks,

Megha Shrestha

Hi Imre, that is a great idea.

We have extended the Early Bird Registration until July 9th, 2016.

Get them while you can!

Last year's HOT Summit was really an amazing event I thought, there
was a great community spirit to it. If you are wondering if it will be
worth it, I am quite sure it will be!

But if you are anything like me and are a little shy about
conferences, believe me, the HOT Summit and State of the Map are very
welcoming, friendly and enjoyable. It is like hanging out with good
friends, relaxed and fun.

I really hope to see you there.

Cheers,
Blake

OK, I guess the issue is when you create a project uploading a polygon
(geojson, kml, etc) in stead of drawing a new one, TM gets computing tasks
forever...

reviewing logs maybe is related with "POST /project/grid_simulate
HTTP/1.1" 500

actuallly just hitting the validator button is not enough, you need to make
sure nothing is selected.

[HOT] Plea to JOSM mappers to hit the validate button before uploading.

2016-06-17 Thread john whelan
You've got the tile in JOSM anyway so if you hit the validate button before
uploading you'll see all the crossing ways etc that other mappers have done
and hopefully you can correct them before uploading.

If you don't hit the validate button then it only validates what you are
uploading which is probably perfect.

Thanks John

Dear Colleagues,

I'd like to warmly invite you to attend our one-of-a-kind conference set
for September 28-30, with numerous field visit opportunities scheduled for
October 1-7, in *Manila, Philippines*.

The International Conference of Crisis Mappers (ICCM) is now in its 7th
year. Since 2009, we have been at the leading edge for conversation and
innovation in the area of humanitarian technology. This year's theme, *Building
Resiliency: Inclusive Innovations in Crisis Mapping*, will highlight how
local populations prepare for shocks to infrastructure and systems, as well
as the role that NGO's, volunteers, and technical communities can play in
partnering with people from threatened areas.

We do hope you can join us. We are very excited to offer some of the same
components of the ICCM you have come to know and love from the past, while
incorporating new experiences given our new location in Manila. Get ready
next week to apply to deliver an Ignite Talk, schedule a Self-Organized
Session on a topic you most care about, present your work at the Tech &
Analysis Fair, & more. We are also thrilled to offer Excursions to Palawan
focused on Resiliency & Preparedness, among other opportunities to get out
into the local community.

We are grateful to *Map the Philippines*
, our host for this year's
event. MapPH is an international initiative to provide current,
comprehensive, and accessible maps of the Philippines for economic and
tourist development, and disaster and community resilience.

Stay tuned for information next week on how to register for the 7th annual
ICCM, sign up to participate, & get ready to see your friends, old and new.

Fondly,
Jen, for Team ICCM.
