Thank you so much to all of you!

the task are finished. Here some of us will are going to Yauyos as part
of an Humanitarian Mission to give help to people affected and take some
experience in the ground for future emergencies.

We get out from Lima on friday 3 and return sunday 5. To that moment we
think the mapping of buildings in this area is needed.

This experience is very important to us, to know the limitations of our
tools in the ground.

We are going with people from some volunteers organizations, so is a
important activity to share osm possibilities in they work.

Thank you all again!

[HOT] Tasks to mapping some affected places by "friaje" in Lima, Perú

2018-07-23 Thread Johnattan Rupire
Hi all,
in Perú we are living, sadly, as every year, the down of the
temperature, that we know as "friaje", many places was affected. Some
days ago, Anibal, an humanitarian volunteer, share in our telegram
group, news about an emergency situation in highlands of Lima [0]. After
some troubles in josm to read the geojson files generated in it, we have
now the areas about the communities that Anibal notified as the
impacteds.[1]

He, and his team, will going to these areas to carry on some
humanitarian help. We, in Lima, can to collaborate this time only with
remote mapping. Can someone help us to create the tasks for this?

We want to mapping ways, waterways, and buildings. As the areas are
little, we think we can map the farming areas too.

[HOT] About building's materials in osm

2018-06-14 Thread Johnattan Rupire
Hi all,
some days ago I add to building's material wiki page, some attributes
that I think would be usefull to calculate some things in case of
earthquakes or flood emergencies. Also, could be usefull for some other
things, like a census about rural housing materials, or some other
activities from ngos or governmental officers like Housing and
Sanitation Ministry in Peru, for example.

In wiki page about materials I added two tags about materials for
buildings made from mud: "adobe" and "rammed earth" ("tapial" in
spanish).

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:material

Now, I have some doubts to share with you about wiki page
"building:material". This page it's describe as values to tag building's
"facade" and I think a wiki page for material strecuture of buildings is
needed, maybe "key:material" is the wiki page I don't be sure...

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:building:material

In ID, as value for buildings:material appears "mud", but mud is the
value for "natural" tag, natural=mud

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:natural%3Dmud

For "roof:material" I added the value "palm_leaves" for this type of
roof, very common in amazonian region, and others tropical places.

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:roof:material

So, I wanted to open this thread to share with you these issues and know
what do you think about it. And, if you have other better ways to
tagging materials of buildings, I linke to know them.

Do you know how it is possible to add these values as presets in ID
editor?

Thanks for your attention!

Regards!

Hi everyone,

What specific features to map? Normally, we focus on one or two
features ie building + road or other combinations this makes it easy
to map and validate.

waterways
road network
Settlements
buildings

Which imagery to use? Bing or mapbox or others? We usually use a
single imagery source to minimize misalignment issues but if one
source is not sufficient we can combine others taking note of their
alignment issues and date of capture to help temote mappers understand
the quality of imagery.

In some places Bing is better than Mapbox, in others it's the other way...

Hi!
In Peru we are experiencing a difficult time due to the impact
that is causing the floods in the country, especially in the
north. This is why we want to open a task in the Task Manager to
call people to the mapping of areas near Piura.

It would be the first time we have activated an alert of this type
here, Humberto Yances has offered to collaborate with us, so here
goes the thanks and the invitation to other collaborators.

Those who have experience mapping flood events, please also share
their insights, tips or recommendations on how we could get
started and how best to collaborate from the map.

We are looking for contact with the respective authorities here,
we hope to get their attention at some point.

Regards!
