Keanu showing us more of his sweet green-screen moves? Shut up and

This made me laugh (and then cough a lot - I'm a bit sick at the moment).

I think the only likelihood of any eight figure sum coming in my
direction is a figure with a lot of decimal places - like £0.

I think this is all a cover up...

What I think has *really* happened is, Dave has sold Hollywood the movie
rights to 'Bash Tips' for an eight figure sum and he has walked away
with a huge bung in his sky rocket (pocket). I hear it on the grape
vine that Keanu Reeves is in the frame for the leading role.

This is very true.

The biggest brunt of this is in the form of hosting, which is kindly
provided by Josh from AnHonestHost.com and Archive.org. We would
appreciate it if you could donate to help reduce his costs in funding
the hosting. He is also accepting bitcoins to

Yes podcasting is in at the moment. But HPR was here before this wave,
and I suspect it will be here well after it. Chugging along releasing
shows every weekday Monday through Friday.

While we do thank our sponsors, we do not have advertising. The topic
has been discussed many times over the years. It would be incompatible
for the shows released as CC-BY-SA-NC. Why I don't particularly like it
is that once money is involved in a project, we would need to have
accounts, and auditing and the entire direction could be driven by
advertisers. More hassle than it's worth.

"HPR is entirely community driven. Policy decisions are proposed and
discussed on the Mailing list, which is open to anyone to join. Mailing
list discussions are brought to the attention of the listening community
on the first Monday of the month in the HPR Community News show."

Also whatever HPR LLC is they also would be missing most of the domains
because of

The others are (I think) owned by Stank Dawg, so good luck with that.

There is nothing stopping someone releasing the non CC-BY-SA-NC shows on
their own feed with advertising. If anyone wants to do this, we can
assist by providing a new filtered feed. Remember "Hacker Public Radio
is dedicated to sharing knowledge."

I was planning on doing this on the Community News and having Dave storm
off, but as it happens he was not able to make the show.

Were Dave ever to leave we would have some serious problems. Indeed
after the DDOS attack some time ago, we have been looking into
decentralized setup. This has stalled largely due to personal issues on
my side, but I hope to be able to do some work on it soon.

So glad to hear about this! It's been an incredible journey, and I've
been delighted to have been a small part of it. I am sure that HPR,
with new financial muscle as part of the Audible family, will be able
to provide even better and more diversified services than it already
has. Here's to the next 2781 episodes!

As for the distribution part of the revenue sharing scheme, may I
suggest launching an HPR cryptocurrency? Tying the rewards to smart
contracts and an oracle service feeding the latest episode download
numbers into the blockchain could be a powerful way to incentivize the
producers of the most eye-catching and popular episodes to bring the
 platform to new levels!

Perhaps so much of the news these days reads like an April 1st prank it's

Best news I've heard all year! That's fantastic that HPR is going to be funded
by the corporate entities that control mainstream media.

Happy April 1st Ken.

[Hpr] HPR LLC

2019-03-31 Thread Ken Fallon
Hi All,

As you know HPR has a long history of providing quality technical
content. Over the years our growth has been organic supported by the
generous donations from the community. Now that podcasting has hit the
mainstream we are been contacted daily by corporations wishing to
sponsor our shows. There has never been a better time to grow the
network and expand into new untapped markets.

To that end I am thrilled to announce the first of our initiatives to
take HPR into the big leagues. As of today we will be partnering with
Audible to bring the best they have to offer to our network. You
couldn't ask for a sponsor that's more aligned with our mission and the
interests of our listeners. Audible is the leading provider of digital
audio books. With over 180,000 audio books and more to choose from,
you're sure to find one that relates to our listeners.

This is an important moment for HPR as this represents the first step in
monetizing the potential of the platform while still remaining true to
our core values. To ensure the highest standards of corporate
governance, we have instigated "Hacker Public Radio LLC". This body will
oversee the assets and intellectual property of the network going
forward as we transition from the creative commons to the HPR Assignment
License.

Initial projections show an almost linear relationship between listeners
and income. To give an example with 2,500 listeners, pre, mid and post
roll add we could earn an additional $15,112 - $29,737 / year. To this
end we will be incentivizing more popular topics as bringing in new
listeners will increase growth and drive revenue increasing our value to
the share holders.

Which is why I am also thrilled to announce that we will be starting a
revenue sharing scheme for any host where their partnership consistently
exceeds expectations. More information on this can be found here:
http://hackerpublicradio.org/series.php?id=83

As you will hear on today's show, Dave has decided to step away from HPR
to spend more time with his family. We wish him every success in his
future endeavors.
