Not necessarily, it's a brand new feature.
The gray picker can be used to correct the white balance of an image
semi-automatically. You need to select a point which contains what should be
a neutral gray, but may be (e.g.) a bit reddish in the image. Hugin will
then compute the right white balance values which will correct this (e.g.)
reddish shade into neutral gray. Quite handy.

I gave it another shot after so many changes in the week I was away.
However, I still keep the same errors upon loading hsi into python.

I then tried to build it 64bit as the libhugin_python_interface and _hsi.so
are built before the wxmac stuff (which can't be built 64bit on OSX for
2.8.x). The issue was that hsi couldn't be loaded into python. Even without
being able to built Hugin 64bit it might be possible to load the hsi into
python.
Unfortunately I can't build the libhugin_python_interface and _hsi.so as 64
bit.

Currently the 2011.0 release cycle is more important but I will keep trying.

However, now that 2.9.1 has been officially released, be it a development
release, it has also been ported to macports. That will allow for a cmake
build of "python" hugin as 64 bit. In that case I will also trying to
investigate why the 64bit doesn't build currently.

I will also built 2.9.1 in my own repository for the XCode build, but after
2011.0 has been released as that one has been based on 2.8.11 until now. I
don't want to introduce a new variable just before release. It will also
require a huge change in the XCode project as all wxwidgets (wxmac) related
stuff is forced to be built 32bit. That is also a massive change I don't
want to do when being in a release cycle.

Note though that the macports/cmake repository is different from the XCode
repository giving me the option to push forward with the cmake build of
"python" hugin.

Another option might be to leave the dedication "framework" functional as it
is with an option to switch it on or off per release. We can then decide
upon a new Hugin version if we want to dedicate Hugin to someone or
something if we all feel that something or someone needs to be dedicated.
Something might happen that makes us all feel that we "now!" want to
dedicate Hugin to someone or something.
It could (easily?) be a cmake variable (1 or 0) that decides whether the
dedication window is built or not (I'll find my way for XCode on OSX).

Re: [hugin-ptx] Hugin-2011.0_beta2 released

2011-03-02 Thread Harry van der Wolf
I just built the beta2, but I have some very weird behavior.
The first project after startup of Hugin will show a small rectangle with a
large hugely zoomed in part of the pano in the fast preview window and
nothing changes afterwards.
Next to that the panoshpere remains black, when switching to mosaic (also
black) and back to panoshphere the panoshere displays correct, but now the
preview is grey with a small black rectangle where first the zooed in
rectangle was.

When I start a new project and do the workflow, either via the assistant or
"manually", the fast preview screen remains grey and absolutely nothing
changes. The panoshpere/mosiac displays correctly in this second project and
further projects.

When I close hugin and start again, the same issues start again in the same
order.

The old preview screen works fine.

Yes, this is potentially one of the immediately useful things that

[hugin-ptx] Re: Call for Nominations: Dedication of 2011.0

2011-03-02 Thread harry van der Wolf
Personally I don't like the concept of dedicating a piece of software
or an OS project to anyone or anything at all.

I thought the Milko Amorth dedication was a one time action, because
he obviously meant a lot to a lot of community members, although I had
never heard of him before (but that might be my ignorance).

Therefore I would like to raise the question if we as OS community
would like to dedicate Hugin, both as software and as project, to
someone or something.
My vote is against it.
However, I like this to be a democratic decision by the community and
if the community is in favor for a dedication in hugin, I will easily
follow.
Currently it has been decided already for 2010.4, which is fine with
me, but do we want to continue with this?

So please let us know if you are against dedication in hugin or in
favor. And if you are in favor of it please mention your person/
subject/topic for dedication.

Harry

The assistant loads the images and detects their exiv data, runs the default
control point generator, runs the optimiser and then corrects exposure.

[hugin-ptx] 2nd Panini Video demo

2011-03-02 Thread Tom Sharpless
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj69gzOF8JA .

720 x 480 DV from a Sony Handicam with an Opteka 0.41x semi-fisheye
adapter,
hfov 125 degrees. It is a poor lens and my correction of it is not
great; but
the Panini perspective looks pretty good.

I hope soon to post some decent looking clips from EOS 7D with Tokina
10-17mm zoom fisheye, using lens calibrations made with PTGui.
