Re: Relocating files in custompac - Z1.13

2012-03-29 Thread Kathleen Mclaughlin
Hello Matt,

To move specific datasets to different PVOLs, my suggestion is to change them
by their high level qualifier (HLQ). From the Modify System Layout Panel:
select option C - View and change datasets by selected attributes
select HLQ
select the HLQ you want to work with
issue the CH PVOL DLIB newvol command
exclude all the datasets you do not want to move to the new volume
pf3 out of the global change panel

Good Luck

Subject: Relocating files in custompac - Z1.13

I am working in the modify system layout panels. I have a 3390-9 being used for
the dlib libraries and need to relocate some files to a second volume because
the mod-9 is full. According to the good old book you have to go to the SUMMARY
Of Logical Volumes, select the LV and then you can change the PVOL, the problem
is it changes every (411 of them) dsn's in the LV. I have NOT found a way to
change only specific dsn's. Please tell me there is a simple solution that I
missed.

Thanks Matt

Re: How do you manage CALLLIBS for products not installed?

2011-06-20 Thread Kathleen Mclaughlin
We encounter the same issue with our ServerPac installs because we include ASF
but not DB2 or CICS. For the DB2 and CICS CALLLIBS ASF needs, I point those
DDDEFs to the “current-version-du-jour” and then re-verify with their support
programmer that they haven’t changed/updated the datasets before applying any
maintenance for ASF. With the remaining CALLLIBS ASF needs for products we
don’t own, I’ll point those CALLLIBS to the ASF “default” stub file.

Good luck,

Kathleen

I'm most of the way through a ServerPac install and stumbling on a job
that wants to set CALLLIBS for products installed in other CSIs--and
managed by other people--or products that we don't even own. These
libraries are choking points:

CICS.SDFHLOAD -- no DDDEF because it lives elsewhere
DSN.SDSNLOAD -- no DDDEF because it lives elsewhere
IMS.SDFSRESL -- no DDDEF because we don't own IMS at all

I could jury-rig the first two by pointing the DDDEF to some
current-version-du-jour library, but IMS is not even a stretch. System
Automation is particularly fond of releasing PTFs that require CALLLIBS.
How do other people get through this?

Re: How to delete multiple volumes from DFSMSrmm

2009-06-15 Thread Kathleen McLaughlin
Hello Rex,

You might want to try a RMMCLIST batch job. With it you can get RMM
to generate a listing of the volsers and then have RMM do whatever
you want to them. Here's a sample of the code we use:
//SEARCH#  EXEC PGM=IKJEFT01,DYNAMNBR=20
//SYSTSPRT DD SYSOUT=*
//RMMCLIST DD DSN=XXX.RMM.CLIST,UNIT=SYSDA,SPACE=(CYL,(15,5))
//SYSTSIN  DD *
 RMM SV VOLUME(123*)  -
  OWNER(*) LIM(*) ST(SCRATCH)  -
  CLIST('RMM DV ',' REMOVE')
 EXEC 'XXX.RMM.CLIST'
/*

If this is your first time using the RMMCLIST, you may want to change
the CLIST('RMM DV ',' REMOVE') to CLIST('RMM LV ') to get a better
feel for it.

Good luck,

Kathleen

Re: State of Nevada Employment Opportunity

Nevada's Department of IT doesn't do the background check until after a
person has been offered the job, and it costs around $50.

there is nothing odd about any of this.
NYC makes quite a bit of money charging to take civil service exams for
which there may not be a job opportunity for as much as 4 years, if any.
And potential applicants who are finally chosen have to pay for the
investigation which can take up to 3 months before they can be hired.
And union contract percentages usually dictate the salary for each title
and level so these are calculated to the penny - some rip off shopping
channels like QVC also charge to the penney for their junk.

 $54,204.48 to $81,139.68

 I don't dispute it is good or poor salary, but the precision is
 wondering me!

Not all that uncommon, especially for government entities (gotta account
for every penny).

What I found somewhat odd is the requirement that the successful
applicant has to pay for the mandatory criminal background check and
fingerprinting.

Valid IEASYS00 Members?

2006-03-08 Thread Kathleen McLaughlin
I’m currently reviewing our SYS1.PARMLIB(IEASYS00) member and have found
the following three parameters specified:
 APG=07
 ILMLIB=SYS1.ILMLIB
 ILMMODE=NONE
I have searched both the z/OS V1R4 and z/OS V1R6 “MVS Initialization and
Tuning Reference” books and am unsuccessful in finding information on any
of these parameters. Does someone know if these are still valid
parameters for z/OS or when they were possibly dropped?

Thanks,

Kathleen
