Hello, Regarding this reported symptom condition, CA now acknowledges that the CICS/CMF transaction record's UOWID field contents (SMF 110 subtype 1) are overlaid by their CA AllFusion Gen CommBridge product, specifically many unique/individual transaction executions contain the same UOWID string. With CA's final response that "no other customer has complained," the reported issue has been closed and will not be addressed without additional "...demand from the customer base." Hopefully there are other CICS users running CA's CommBridge software who can identify the importance of having an accurate UOWID/NETNAME combination for relating MRO-related transactions with management reporting and also IT chargeback. Sincerely, Scott Barry SBBWorks, Inc. This is totally unacceptable for a software vendor to act this way when they are notified of a defect in their product. This is especially egregious when you consider the data field and its importance and impact to performance reporting and analysis. This field allows the separation of CPU usage within CICS from DB2 CPU usage by CICS transactions. If you can't do this correctly, then many shops I have worked with would be crippled. Just my two cents. Re: CICS UOWID overlaid with CA's CommBridge in MRO environment
If you would let me know the Incident Report Number, I'd like to see if this can be escalated to the appropriate area within CA. There must be some reason to have Support respond this way. Send the number here, or send it privately to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and I'll be glad to see what I can find. -Original Message- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Chase, John Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2007 SYSN AM 9:40 To: IBM-MAIN@BAMA.UA.EDU Subject: Re: CICS UOWID overlaid with CA's CommBridge in MRO environment > -Original Message- > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List On Behalf Of Scott Barry > > Cross-post. > > -Original Message- > From: Scott Barry > To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' > > Hello, > > Regarding this reported symptom condition, CA now > acknowledges that the CICS/CMF transaction > record's UOWID field contents (SMF 110 subtype 1) are > overlaid by their CA AllFusion Gen CommBridge > product, specifically many unique/individual transaction > executions contain the same UOWID string. > > With CA's final response that "no other customer has > complained," the reported issue has been closed > and will not be addressed without additional "...demand from > the customer base." The mere fact that ONE customer reports data corruption caused by a vendor product, which the vendor then acknowledges to be true, ought to be sufficient impetus for the vendor to correct its product's behavior "now". That "no other customer has complained" is utterly irrelevant, and certainly not an excuse to propagate a defective product in the marketplace. > Hopefully there are other CICS users running CA's CommBridge > software who can identify the > importance of having an accurate UOWID/NETNAME combination > for relating MRO-related transactions > with management reporting and also IT chargeback. We don't currently use CommBridge, and based on your experience we will never even consider using it. -jc- -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html

CICS UOWID overlaid with CA's CommBridge in MRO environment

Hello, Anyone else experience this condition where the UOWID field found in the CICS SMF 110 subtype 1 (CMF transaction) record contains a data string that is not what's expected for CICS-standard UOWID/NETNAME combination? This condition is only observed with CICS transactions generated with CA's CommBridge software; a constant data string (for some set of transactions) is showing up which prevents the customer from correlating related TOR/AOR/FOR transactions for proper identification (e.g., TOR info mapped onto related other transactions based on UOWID/NETNAME combination) and possibly chargeback/cost_allocation purposes.
