I had a similar problem many years ago on an MVS/XA system. What I did was to create an alias (let's call it SAPQA1) for a usercatalog. I then took the listing of datasets and wrote a program to create a TSO CLIST that renamed the files from SAPQUAS... to SAPQA1... Once all the SAPQUAS datasets were renamed you can then define SAPQUAS as an alias for a usercatalog and run the CLIST renaming all the files from SAPQA1... back to SAPQUAS... You can use IDCAMS REPRO MERGECAT, but the process can be painfully slow. I can volunteer a copy of our T-REX product that can perform the REPRO MERGECAT in a fraction of the time as compared to IDCAMS. Just contact me offline. Another consideration, since these are DB2 files, is that all files must be CLOSED. This is true for IDCAMS REPRO MERGECAT and T-REX. My only advise here would be our TERADON product that can perform the REPRO MERGECAT process while the dataset remain OPEN. There is also Catalog Recovery Plus (CR+) from Mainstar (www.mainstar.com) that does the same thing. Zoran, The MERGECAT option of REPRO should do what you need. I like the old IPO CATCVTM to build a new master catalog allthough it's unsupported, there also a rewite of it in rexx on the CBT Tape.
