seem to work. I had to use Firefox, but it seems that Mantissa is
announcing running windows in a mainframe environment under z/vm.

Re: Clear_Tdisk question

2009-02-25 Thread Schuh, Richard
In that case, maybe it is time to report a security bug to the Support
Center. :(

The description of Write Count, Key, and Data does say that the rest of
the track is erased; however, it does not say how effective the erasure
is. Apparently, not very. I wonder what XRC is doing to be able to see
the rest of the track. The normal CCWs documented in GA32-0099-06 do not
appear to be capable of doing it.

Maybe what is needed is an obliterating write instead of a formatting
write.

Richard Schuh

So probably not good enough for Alan :)

But when you have to have more than one o/s eating the same

z/VM depends on z/OS to do long distance mirroring, at least
with IBM product. Not sure if the other vendors do.

Set PFxx Question.

Did this a few times in the past but can't remember how to do this again.

I want to SET PFxx lets say PF11 as follows:

the after and before versions and the Q DASD DETAILS shows up and it indicates
an error. Never gives me the change to key in anything, I just want the

So, how can I just hit PF11 have it show Q DASD DETAILS and stay on the screen

At another assignment I believe we experienced this or another of the
VAI abends running 5.3 and IBM sent use some test code.

I suggest you open a severity one ticket with IBM.

2009-02-25 Thread Schuh, Richard
This is reminiscent of the HTT codes that are sometimes encountered. It
seems that all of the HTT codes had exactly the same description. IBM
was supportive when I pointed out that they at least could point me in
the general direction of what caused the ABEND without giving away the
family jewels. The problems I was having appeared to be related to 3rd
party software, but I had no way of knowing or even guessing. They did
change the documentation as a result of the RCFs they received.

In addition to the suggested PMR, I suggest submitting an RCF. You might
get a little better description of the problem, at least in a future
release or version of the system.

Regards,
Richard Schuh
