Linux on z/VM Performance Update
Velocity Software was able to reserve a larger room in Jersey City for the zVPS Version 4 Update on March 17th. We will therefore extend the session to include many of the topics covered during our Performance Day seminars. The agenda now includes: Managing Linux under z/VM with zVPS, VM and Linux Configuration Guidelines, and the Version 4 Update. The session runs from 9am until 4pm, includes lunch, and is now open to all z/VM users. Please use the following link for additional information. _http://velocitysoftware.com/seminar/v4update.html_ (http://velocitysoftware.com/seminar/v4update.html) Regards, Len Diegel Velocity Software Inc.
Re: 100 Years of IBM
Thanks Jim, but I can't claim credit for finding it. It was sent in our private IBM Tampa retirement newsletter. It is nice, though. Certainly resurrected my pride in the first real job I had after getting out of the USAF in 1966! Opportunities like that are very hard to come by... from electronic technician repairman to Advisory Software Engineer on a high school and military electronics education. The fun that one of the speakers talked about is what I felt for most of my career w/IBM. Apologies for an off-topic posting. Les Jim Bohnsack wrote: Les--This is fantastic! Yes, you’ll have to change those too. Change the real address. You can leave the virtuals alone (On the attach the virtual is the second address, on the DEDICATE it s the first – in case you didn’t know that ☺ ) Marcy This message may contain confidential and/or privileged information. Re: z196 lb4ul
Yes Marcy is correct about adding P01 to your VSWITCH address. I will have to do something similar on February 13th when we move from a z10 to z196. My plan is to have two SYSTEM CONFIG members. One will be called SYS2817 CONFIG and I will use it to do the first IPL on the new box. That one will have my changes in it. If all goes well I will change SYSTEM CONFIG before the next IPL. Access to wiki.linuxvm.org
Cross-posted to Linux-390, IBMVM, and IBM-Main All, wiki.linuxvm.org has been under attack for about the last week from spammers and vandals. I think I've got it largely under control for now. The attackers seemed to be using a zombie net, so a _lot_ of IP addresses are now blocked at the firewall. If you or someone you know cannot get to wiki.linuxvm.org, please contact me off list with the IP address being used. It may have been part of the zombie net, or an innocent bystander. If the former, you _really_ want that to get fixed. If the latter, I can fix it for you. Thanks, Mark Post
