Re: Cannot find msg explaination
Hi Graham, You can find OSA codes in System z10, System z9 and Eserver zSeriesOpen Systems Adapter-Express Customer's Guide and Reference SA22-7935-10 .. The OSA is probably not cabled up correctly.. :-) OSA Reject Codes Any of the following OSA return codes can be included in a message displayed by host programs other than OSA/SF. The message description for the other application directs you to this section. E003 An invalid LAN type was detected. Ensure that the LAN type defined in your configuration matches the actual LAN type being used. E003 An invalid LAN type was detected. Ensure that the LAN type defined in your configuration matches the actual LAN type being used. E004 An invalid LAN number was detected. Check the LAN port number specified in your setup. E005 An IP address was received by the OSA port that duplicates an IP address already in use by another MPC (HPDT MPC mode) or LCS (TCP/IP Passthru mode) session attached to the port. Change one of the IP addresses. Refer to the issuing message documentation for information on any other appropriate action to take. E006 The IP address table is full. Remove some of your TCP/IP addresses. See Table 27 on page 259for the limits of each OSA type. E010 The primary default image has already been defined. E00A An IP address was received by the OSA port that duplicates an IP address being used by another IP connection in the IP network. Change one of the IP addresses in the network. E00B Invalid frame type detected. Check that the frame type specified in your setup is correct. E00C Unsupported LAN type. E053 The MAC address specified for a Layer 3 Virtual MAC is not valid. Check the address specified in the TCP/IP profile E054 A Duplicate MAC address was detected for the Layer 3 Virtual MAC being assigned. This MAC address is already in use by another stack. Change one of the Layer 3 Virtual MAC addresses being used. E056 The Virtual MAC address table is full. Remove some of the Layer 3 Virtual MAC addresses and try again. E057 The Layer 3 Virtual MAC being used is the same as the currently assigned OSA universal MAC address. Change either the Layer 3 Virtual MAC or the OSA assigned universal MAC address. E080 A LAN connection could not be made, possibly for one of the following reasons: v The cable may not be present v The LAN may not be functioning v The port may have been disabled from the Support Element (SE) of the server v This may be seen the first time any stack is brought up after the OSA has been taken out of Link Aggregation mode. This occurs due to the OSA dropping light to any attached switch when it was removed from the Link Aggregation. The starting of a new stack causes OSA to re-enable light to the switch. Shortly after this code is posted, it should be followed by the stack initialization message. This is normal operation. (If the stack does not complete initialization after seeing this code, then follow the normal error reporting procedures.)Fix the error as explained above. Then, depending on the error, restart the device or restart TCP/IP. -Original Message- From: The IBM z/VM Operating System [mailto:ib...@listserv.uark.edu] On Behalf Of Graeme Moss Sent: 09 October 2009 05:53 To: IBMVM@LISTSERV.UARK.EDU Subject: Cannot find msg explaination Hello Listers, I am working on a new z/VM 5.4 rsu 0902 system. TN3270 logon screen
Hi List, I am a complete newbie to TCP/Ip on z/VM - I'm a z/OS-er. We have brought up the TCPIP stack on z/Vm 5.4, and I can logon both unsecure and secure (with SSLSERV). I cannot find out how to set up customised 'USSTABLES' fo r the TN3270 clients - how do you change the z/vm logo, use 'system symbolics' in the table, etc? I am looking at this from a z/os viewpoint. . Could I have different 'USSMSG10' for different ports? I have looked for the TCP/IP redbooks for z/vm 5.4 in vain. Thanks, John Zarzeck

Don't. You will get a headache. :-) Logos come from CP and sit on the PARM disk (e.g. MAINT CF1). Look in the CP Planning and Administration book (Chapter 7) for information on setting up a logo. CP can give a different logo to TELNET users than it gives to local non-SNA (OSA-ICC, 2074, 3174, HMC, ...) users if you want. Unlike VTAM USSMSG10, there are no system symbolics in the logos. Note also the reference to the CP REFRESH LOGO command. Could I have different 'USSMSG10' for different ports? Users coming in from different networks can be given different logos ONLY IF they are telnetting to a separate TCPIP stack (e.g. TCPIP2) since CP has no awareness of IP address when it comes to logo selection. [Hmmmthat would make for an interesting Requirement.] I have looked for the TCP/IP redbooks for z/vm 5.4 in vain. You have something far better: People. The entire z/VM Family is here to help. I'm sure it's been asked here before, but we might have some new members that may be able to help. I'm looking for a copy OS/VS1, tapes, manuals, etc... I would like to get a vanilla VS1 Release 7.0 system without BPE, DFDS and other program product extensions. I'll be more than happy to pay for shipping of any materials. Thanks. IIRC, even the base system is a copyrighted, licensed, product. Somebody could give you the manuals, but the software?
