Hi Janice,

>>That's actually my mother not my granny. I was the second last born so
she was 40 when I was born so in lots of cases she could be my granny.

Confusing photo because the photo says Grandma-Valur as I had done this for
her grandchildren

i just bought my dogs for christmas, each one, a new polar fleece
blankie for their crates. 4.99 at walmart. Snowflakes on navy blue.
I dont even wash them. I just let them get so nasty they are about to
disintegrate and throw away and get new ones. also I garage sale and
go to the goodwill and get old faded and stained but clean crocheted
blankets for them for their crates. I have plain black wire crates
but my daughter has a fancy one that looks like bamboo with a fancy
sheepskin mattress in it and a battery operated fan.

Our dogs used to love their crates. It was also the
"safe zone". If they were in trouble for any reason,
if they got to their crate, they were safe and could
not be touched or scolded when they were in there.
They also got fed in their crates.

Oh...the adventures. I have a sense that my mother would be gasping
for air if that happened to her too. She has a very well developed
sense of humour. I have thought over the years that a healthy sense
of humour is the one single trait that plays a huge role in someone's
outlook on life and whether they remain young a heart.

Laughter is a wonderful thing. What a wonderful gift you gave your
mother that day...even if you nearly drowned her. :)

Right! You were the one that sent in a pic of a pom...

I've popped her new little bed in her 'crate' and Sophie has put
herself to bed. The door has been wide open for 1/2 and hour now and
she's sound asleep in there.

She must think it's her safe spot now...that and another safe spot
would be clutched in any number of human arms during the day. She's
fairly well socialized at this point.

Hi Wanda,
Good for your mother, will keep her young, even if it is just with the
stories she can tell.

Sophie is sooo cute - Sushi, my son Jesses Pom, was here over Christmas and
he is really cute. I got him a soft sided crate and he slept in it near our
bed. I will find some good info for you on crate training and let you know.
I did it, using an extra large birdcage that sat on the floor, with my own
first puppy - it was 32 years ago and crate training wasn't exactly popular
- it worked really well. It should never be a punishment but can be a great
security space if used correctly and depending on the dog.

oh wanda that little dog has the CUTEST ever face!!! moreMORE
pics!! as for moms, before my mom passed at age 86, I asked her one
day what she wanted to do for an outing and she said she had a sore
toe and wanted to go wade in the gulf. So i thought thats easy
enough. So I drive her a half hour to the beach and the waves were
really big that day. we get her shoes off and walk into the water
where its like a foot deep. I held her hand. Not thinking she was
weak and old and balance is not so great at that age either, a big
wave came about knee deep and she held on to me but lost balance and
fell in the water dragging me down too and water was just breaking all
over us and I was wallering around sputtering just horrified and
dragged her up and she was to my great relief laughing so hard she
could barely get up. It was a memorable day, a memory to cherish now
that she's gone... she did not like animals and animals did not like
her. I had a cat that would climb in her lap and stare at her when
she came over and she would be going wh get it off m! she
always said i was like my granny with the rat on her shoulder, that
she had so many pet white rats breeding at random that her whole yard
look like it snowed and that everybody in town talked about it. I
guess i am like that a little... just not into rats tho :)

oh wow, thats a keeper photo for sure! animals make old photos so
cool, so someday years and years from now her descendants will think
that pic is so cool! I have a pic of one great granma with a little
scruffy terrier dog on her lap and one granma with of all things, a
huge long white rat on her shoulder :) I love those pics! but your
granny and icey pic beats them all i think!
