Do you happen to know if the text can be made larger for those who have
 problems reading regular print?

Judy -

I don't know about the Kindle but I know the E-Reader(I think it's by Sony)
will adjust the type size and I think it's about $100 cheaper

I love books and love opening a new book but I also hate to part with
the really good ones. This option would be great for my storage
problem. Whenever we have moved, the movers always give me a hard
time about the number of books I have - since they charge by weight, I
can't imagine how much my books have added to the moving costs.

The print can be made quite a bit larger. It looks more like a
printed page than a computer screen so does great in bright sunlight,
but will need a reading light if it is dark.

I ordered it Monday and it was waiting for me when I got home
yesterday. I had it shipped 2nd day 'cause it was free but I guess
since it was shipped from KY it showed up in one day.

I like to read hardbacks, but hate lugging them around. The
paperbacks are nice but hard to keep open. This comes with a book
like cover so don't need to order one. I did and now I have to send
it back. It's very comfortable to hold and read from. It's just a
little larger than a paperback.

You can order audio books for it and you can also download music from
your computer to play as background. Might try that eventually. Not
on the top of my must do list. The buttons to turn the page are large
and easy to deal with. One of the girls at work is thinking about
ordering one for her elderly parent who has vision problems.

The big advantage of this over Sony's is that you don't have to
download from a computer. When you have dial-up downloads take
forever. I can order from the computer or the kindle but have to
drive to where there is cell phone service.

I just saw that the largest print is the equivalent to 20 pt on the
microsoft word.

Sorry, but there is nothing like a brand new book in your hands. If
you are a reader you understand. I worked in the HS library for many
years and my favorite time was when there was a delivery of new books.
I love reading, I read a book a week. I love fiction. A good mystery
or non ficton but no self help books.I LOVE BOOKS! In my next life I
am gonna be a librarian but I doubt they will have any in our day and
age.

I actually hate how to in riding books. The gaiting books, nope. I
need to experience it in person. I can see it and feel it but nope, I
don't like reading it.

Gosh...then I would miss the feel of a book in my hands and the
wonderful smell of a new book.

Pam,

I worked in the office of our small rural school. I actually did all the
accounting for the tiny school district, but had lots of other duties too,
including choosing and ordering all the new books for the library. It was
like Christmas every time an order arrived. It probably served to set me
up to be an Amazon junkie.

Even better, it wouldn't happen to have a voice output option would it?

Stephanie (who has cerebral palsy) has trouble turning pages. We use lots
of books on tape and she can access the Oregon State Library's recorded
books, but we have an awful time finding the titles she needs for book
reports and school studies. Because of her disability, she is allowed to
use any recording we can find.

I thought I had the best job in the world working in a HS library.
Now because of cuts I work in the Special Ed Dept as their secretary.
You won't ever meet a nicer bunch of people. I just love them all.
