oh that is so beautiful! My geese would be so happy! You should see them in their walmart wading pool haha. Let me know i they eat the fish! A friend of mine has a carp pond,, a small manmade one and she wants two of my baby geese but is afraid they will eat the fish... Janice-- even good horses have bad days sometimes.

Funny, pictures like these don't make me feel like I have any bragging rights because of the relationship. http://flickr.com/photos/islandpferde/1207774232/in/set-72157601569036835 . That's the horse who lost the huge hunk of hoof in the finals...he was the favorite to win the World Championships until that happened...and I think he still got second place...? Remember him - his rider didn't have the decency to dismount until he was well outside the ring...and then he lit a cigarette, before he looked at the hoof...? That's just sad. If I can get someone to film us :-) Also have to get a new saddle and someone to trim her to see what she really does. Although if I could get someone to film us now and then later it would be interesting to compare... Krisse

I am looking for pictures of Icelandic Horses doing activities other than tolting around an arena. Will you have a video player there with a monitor (TV)? If so, there's the option of showing videos that would show the more American mainstream style use of the Icelandic Horse. Judy http://icehorses.net http://clickryder.com

Re: [IceHorses] Pictures of Evaluations
There have been some pictures posted on other lists taken at the evaluations held in the USA a couple of weeks ago. I saw nosebands digging into the soft tissue of the horse's noses - a couple of the pictures were posted by the horse's owner, who apparently saw nothing wrong with that. I saw pictures of horses ridden with contact in long shanked bits (probably broken mouthed) WITH dropped nosebands. The last time I checked the FEIF rules, that's illegal, but judges have been turning a blind eye to it for the past couple of years. I saw riders sitting on the cantles of saddles - saddles that were already placed too far back. These offenses are not some relic of the distant past - this was just a couple of weeks ago. Who are the riders in the pictures? Judy http://icehorses.net http://clickryder.com

I wonder if that is because the hair is so long and dense and underneath it is darker? just curious. Scooter is very beautiful. I'm not Lorraine, but I think the medium to darker palominos we see in QH's and TWH's are pretty rare in Icelandic's. Sina is so light that she looks like a dirty gray/white in the winter. When she sheds in the spring, she is still a very light peachy-cream color, only slightly darker, and it's only then that you can see her star, strip and snip. I think her shade of palomino is pretty common in the breed - it looks like she, Charm, Andi and Scooter are all very similar in color. She's a little lighter than my old QH was, and he was considered a light palomino in QH terms. Ironically, no relation to the color, they are my two soulmate horses, and they have (had) the same facial markings. He died about 6 months after I got her. Karen Thomas [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The long hair is just a winter thing. She's pale in the summer too. I have a non-icelandic horse that is palomino. In the summer she has a medium gold color. But in the winter she grows in white hair so she looks like a palomino roan. But even if I feed the stuff to enhance color to keep her from fading out in the summer she still does not get real dark. So she is much lighter in the winter, medium in the summer. Sherrel
