Re: [IceHorses] tiv what gait
> Hard to tell from the angle, but it does look like it could be a little > diagonal, so maybe...?. he did one thing on the trail that was scarey, and everyone laughed so hard about it! I felt like I was about to fall and yet everyone was even laughing about it back at the trailers! Tivar was in front and started going faster, faster, and the paso behind me started really gaiting and he acted like he didnt want her to pass him and we were headed toward a big tree so I leaned left and Tivar chose to go right, so I leaned even further left, not cueing him in any way, but usually he just goes with me if I lean, so I am leaning further and further and he is going more and more the other way to avoid the tree and at the last minute I grabbed his mane with my right hand and actually caught myself from falling by reaching and grabbing the tree, then when tivar kept on a chuggin there I am ygh hanging on to the tree and everyone just started laughing like it was the funniest thing they ever saw! So its like he makes his own decisions if the rider seems unclear or anything :) One person kept saying she wished I had a picture of it :) Janice -- yipie tie yie yo

Re: [IceHorses] tiv and the paso ride
I wonder if his canter seemed scarey fast because when the QH went by, he is so tall and long legged, that in order to keep up Tivar had to go what felt like really fast. Janice-- yipie tie yie yo
RE: [IceHorses] tiv and the paso ride
>>> It was not like a walking horse canter, it was very fast and I didnt like it much! Is there any such a thing as a "walking horse canter?" :) Holly and Mac could not possibly have more different canters - Holly, soft and easy and wonderfully smooth, a gait you could ride all day; Mac's is long-strided, rough and absolutely miserable to ride. Both are registered TWH, both with Midnight Sun and Merry Go Boy showing on their papers! BTW, my QH, Sundance, had a long-strided, strung-out canter when I got him, and it was pretty rough. As we worked on getting him off his forehand, his canter got much, much smoother. Karen Thomas [EMAIL PROTECTED]

RE: [IceHorses] Tiv
I have googled "Tivar" and it seems it is an old norse god. I like the Mountain Spirit better. We called him " Mister T." I called him Mr. T sometimes too! That and T-Bar, a nice QH name for a sweet-natured horse with a lovely natural jog. :) Karen Thomas [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I got the name from a children's book about Santa Claus and all the places he went before settling down at the North Pole. For a while he was in Iceland and met a "god? wizard? named Tivar which meant "mountain spirit". I have googled "Tivar" and it seems it is an old norse god. I like the Mountain Spirit better. Re: [IceHorses] Tiv
Almost everyone I talk to says it doesnt matter how you pronounce, just pronounce the way you want! Nasi's name is Monasi which means "color of the earth with a snip". His breeder pronounced it "naysi" and I pronounce it "Nossy", which suits him better i think :) Then Karen called Tivar "Tivver" rhymes with shiver but before I ever heard her pronounce it I was calling him in my mind "Tee-var" and thats what I call him, and my husband calls him "THE Teev", and Nasi "The little Nostril" or Nos-Man. He calls almost every horse a name with man at the end. traveller is "Travellin Man" which he shortened to "Mister Man". One time we were camping and someone came over to pet him and had apparently been listening to us talk to him cause as she was petting him she was saying "good boy man!" which cracked me up, like we would name our horse "Man" like "here man! come on Man!" anyway. When I baby talk Stonewall I call him "Walls-it" and one time a friends daughter asked "will you be bringing walls ED tomorrow?" haha. WallsED. Janice-- yipie tie yie yo

Janice, how are you pronouncing Tivar? I often read these names and then wonder if I'm pronouncing them properly. I'm saying it like Tea-var... Is that right? Wanda
