Jeevz:
This is really a bad way to reply to issues reported in a mailing
list. Please don't reply if you don't have a solution for the specific
issue.

stranger:
I think the documentation is based on an older version of Ubuntu which
required the pango/icu patches. But since those patches are already in
upstream, you may not need to install the additional packages to
enable Malayalam. AFAIK, Malayalam works perfectly in ubuntu-9.10
except translations.

@adhin
If you have downloaded the .deb packages you can add them easily using synaptic.

Put all the .deb files in a folder,
Open synaptic.(System->Administration->Synaptic)
In synaptic File->Add downloaded Packages
Choose that folder with your packages

If it is not .deb packages you are talking about, please let us know
what packages they are

I need to install certain package which I manually downloaded from Internet
(without package manager). I have all the dependent packages with me, & know
the order. Please help me to create an installation script that will install
all the packages in the given order.

Also tell me whether it is possible to use this install script on another
system if I took the installation files along.

I've googled a bit & found complicated script files, which I'm not able to
understand. I'm a newbie to this sort of thing, so please help me
accordingly.
If you already have a simple install script with you, just send it. I'll
make the changes. I'm using Ubuntu 9.10.

PS: AptonCD isn't enough...

Attaching documents or some other files in mailing list or public forums is

Was that smiley supposed to indicate sarcasm? If it's not, then that's a
terrible advice. Brushing might cause static electricity and damage
electronic components. That's why some companies have anti-static
cleaning brushes. Many sites will recommend using compressed air instead
of brushes to clear dust from electronic components.

What we do in our office is to clean the connector pins using a soft
tissue wet with iso-propyl alcohol.

my OT has some points I want to share

1..it would be a good , if members in our groups showed their skillset..
that would be a good reference

2..apart from the doubts/issues posting, it would be nice if we can share
our ideas for new demanding projects and try to launch on them.( its not
mandatory.. only if we have ..)

3. I dont want to start my own project..traffic monitoring system,, that i
just showed an example..(an example!!!)

4. i know there are so many projects running live, but it doesnt mean that
the void of new ideas/project filled already...if any one having/feeling for
a new project, please share..(
malayalam translator( not transilerator!!) was some thing I found.. I wanted
to convert my english posts on my blog to malayalam..I dnt need to retype in
malayalam or vice versa). like that , many people have many needs, we can
share them./

so collecting all , i just tried to say that it would be fine if people
share their ideas/needs to the current IT structure, lets try to give life
on them...

So all these are clean and shine... I dnt understand where do u ppl see the
darkness...and i cannot explain more than this,.

Start it!
Go to some project sites like Sourceforge or Google Code or Savannah,
make the description and details and how to be part of development.
Inform mailing lists, who likes your idea will come and will start
contribute to project. Being a person with skill in java and python
and so enthusiastic to contribute , it won't be a tough thing for you
to initiate and maintain a project. As Manilal said, follow some other
project and be a part of it whichever project you like to know how it
works and collaborates. There are books like producingoss.com which
would help to know the way. (I am sorry, I am talking all these
thinking your are not yet a core dev of any FOSS project who codes a
ton and gits a dozen time a day.)

Well, there is a point in what Aashik said - think whether the new
project idea could be incorporated with any existing one, or made as a
module to some existing FOSS projects. This feature makes FOSS
beautiful, Is n't it?

And if you mail was just meant to make an Idea Collective, where
people can search for "what do FOSS needs", well, we can have a wiki
for tracking those ideas. (I am not sure, we have something like that.
Huge projects have to-do/ wish / GSoC idea lists inside themselves.)

Simple. Make the project up, Don't wait for the crowd. Crowd will
follow. Who knows whether this project is going to be in the list of
top 10 FOSS tool in 2011!

If you are still in dark, Reply to the thread. ;)
