@techin365, I read in a blog post that the method you said is not safe, as
it removes some of the common Linux components too, whish is also part of
'L'AMP(L is Linux). Thereby rendering your system unusable. So, it is better
or safer to follow the method, as said in-

If you want to unistall the LAMP server completely, with all it components,
from Ubutnu 10.04, do the steps, as said in this post, it should work fine-
http://tuxtweaks.com/2010/01/how-to-uninstall-lamp-in-ubuntu-9-10-karmic-koala/
N.B:
The post ^ is for Ubuntu 9.10, but it should work fine for 10.04 as well, if
you follow the instructions in the given order and giving care to the exact
instructions.

[fsug-tvm] Re: Forced Proprietary Standard by Trivandrum Corporation

2010-09-03 Thread Saji. N
I second rajeev on this.
CDAC and C-DIT is not just any idle sitting guys, they're doing what
they can. Also when we consider the passion shown by the Kerala
Government to FOSS, I see no point in this unwanted argument. Our
state government is way better at promoting FOSS, and using it
wherever possible. Yes, the government can make make a team of
dedicated developers to develop FOSS. But, as Rajeev pointed out this
initiation can be done by raising the issue as some open-letter or so,
to the government. As our friend said, if someone is really well-
versed in FOSS and FOSS development, why can't he take part in the
stuff like government tender or call for companies to provide with
software for some particular needs.
Its just that we want things to happen, yes it has to happen, but not
in this way.
