Re: [fsug-tvm] Problems while using Canon LBP 3000 Printer in Ubuntu 9.10

2010-05-12 Thread Harish CM
I had already responded to a similar request earlier; I have LBP 2900
working at home (PCLinuxOS) with better functionality than in M$! I had
bought this printer for home specifically to use on Linux and it did not
disappoint me the least. Of course there were starting hiccups - like you
noted it did not print - when installed the normal way, one would install a
printer in linux (any flavour for that matter). This is because this printer
requires additional daemons running for the printer to work. Download:

Linux Printer Driver (CAPT)
Ver.2.00E

from canon.co.in/support and download where you are asked to choose
product category - laser printers
product series - monochrome
product model - LBP 2900
type of document - drivers and software

I believe, the same driver should work for a variety of LBP printers
including 3000 model. Detailed documentation comes with the driver; simply
follow the instruction and you are on your way

Which version did you use? There are many drivers available in web, it
would be a great help if you can give me a link to the driver which
works fine. I hope the principal is ready to change the distro from

[fsug-tvm] Problems while using Canon LBP 3000 Printer in Ubuntu 9.10

2010-05-11 Thread Ershad K
Dear all,
We are facing a strange problem with our school printer, Canon LBP
3000. It works well on Window$ platform, by installing the drivers which
Canon provides. In Linux, we refered http://is.gd/c4qdO to configure it
on Ubuntu 9.10. The strange issue is that it works well, only for the
first print job soon after the installation. All further jobs are shown
as "pending". After each boot, one should follow the steps given in that
blog to print a document again. Could you please find a permanent
solution for this? The school principal is very fond of Linux and he
uses it for all his official and home purpose, hence it would be a nice
help to him if we are able to fix this problem.

Thanks,
Ershad
