Thanks a lot for the tip. I deleted the 'pppoe' setting and created a new
'bridge' setting.
But while configuring protocol settings there was no UBR without PCR
setting. So I gave UBR with PCR I dont know whether it will make any
difference, its working now.

Once again thanks

There is no need to create a new entry if you do not want to dial
automatically.
You can create it any time with the right settings if and when you want it
to dial automatically.

Re: [fsug-tvm] Unable to connect Dataone

2010-04-14 Thread Ajith Sen

Did you check whether you are getting internet without dialing. The
Internet LED lights up without manually connecting, when the modem is
configured to dial the connection automatically when its powered on.

It was supposed to work that way. Works on windows, But doesn't work on
 linux.
I prefer to dial manually. Any idea how to put it back? Otherwise I have to
wait for few days for the BSNL techs to fix it.

If the upgrade customized the configuration for auto dialing it can be
changed by opening the configuration panel of the modem. This can
be accessed by navigating to 192.168.1.1 using a browser. The username and
password will be usually 'admin' without the quotes.
Inside the control panel, navigate to a section for WAN setup. There will be
a list of WAN interfaces there. Delete the one with VPI/VCI = 0/35. Save and
reboot the modem, everythiong should be back to normal.

You might have to manually set your IP address to 192.168.1.x. (x is any
 value between 2 and 254).

 How to do that?

The IP address of the computer can be changed in Ubuntu (which I'm using
now) through the NetworkManager Applet or by editing /etc/network/interfaces

I've looked at it already, but I'm a bit worried about changing the
settings. I mean this is something you cannot undo locally, is it?
I believe the one with VPI/VCI = 0/35 is the one through which I'm getting
connected. I've seen it when the BSNL techs first gave me the connection.
Will it be safe to delete it?

Any other options? Has anyone encountered same problem as mine?
Anyway I'll be calling BSNL tomorrow

You can edit it and set the password to anything else.

[fsug-tvm] Unable to connect Dataone

2010-04-13 Thread Adhin D
Hi Friends

I am unable to connect to Dataone internet after upgrading the firmware as
directed by BSNL. I used to connect to internet using PPPOE dialer (in both
Linux windows). Now it doesn't work on both OSs. Any suggestions.

PS: Before upgrading only thee LEDs (Power, DSL, PC) flashed. Now the
Internet LED is also flashing.
