Hi! What is the reason behind premature and sudden damaged behind 1.44mb floppy diskette? What precaution one need to take or it is simply not possible? Is there any utility in Linux like magic format to format damaged floppy diskette? hi , the redhat 9.0 disks 4,56 has only source rpms .So if want to install any software frmo source you can simply do it using those disks. But if you want to install the software which u think u missed out then start the add/Remove applications from the menu and insert in your first cd i.e,cd 1 of redhat.Then it will start the installation process and ask you to insert the appropriate disks.. They have released what they call a Competitive Guide which is supposed to show how the expensive Microsoft Office is better than the free Open Office. [snip] This is a pretty good idea. I had worked a bit on clusters, and i am volunteering for the event. But before we go ahead with it a lot of planing has to be done. The first thing we have to decide is location. Location needs to have a good cooling system, power line needs to industrial type (indian standard) as the cluster will eat up lot of power (We might need the location for the whole weekend). Secondly we have to decide the size and what we have to do with the supercomputer. This involves some maths, and i will need a volunteer to help me out in all the calculations (basically cross check my calculations). Third the type of network, this again will be dependednt on the size of supercomputer and the processes running on the big box. Once we decide on these, we can go ahead with few minor things. Hi all, just wanted to share this information regarding the flashmob I event which happened earlier today. I have been following this event for quite a few weeks. The event failed to gather 500 gigaflops to achieve supercomputer status. managed around 180 only. They managed to gather 669 comps out of which only 256 could be connected finally. nevertheless the event itself proves that ad hoc supercomputing is very much possible. How about having a meeting this weekend at some prime location??(at someone's house or some restaurent/park etc.) I am proposing for an informal meet, so that we can decide the future course of action along with he benchmark etc. I had a chat with mayank jain(a volunteer) last night, he is downloading cluster knoppix, we can buy cd from him.
