Sorry. Instead, do the following:
  1. Get a Launchpad account if you do not already have one, via the
Login/Register link on the top right of https://launchpad.net/
  2. Log in to Launchpad, and create a home page (typically
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FirstnameLastname, e.g.,
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/GoraMohanty for me).
  3. Edit https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IndianTeam via the Edit link at the
top-left, and add yourself to the People section following the
way others have done it. Please preview before saving.

Regards,
Gora

[ilugd] Fwd: [Indlinux-group] Ubuntu Indian Local Community Team

2006-03-03 Thread Gora Mohanty
Hi,
I am forwarding a message to indlinux-group from Baishampayan Ghose
about a proposal to put together an Indian LoCo team for Ubuntu. For
details of what such a team does, please see the appended message, and
the links that it includes at the end. As I had discussed the
possibility of providing Ubuntu support with various people, I think
that it is great that Baishampayan has taken this initiative.
An Ubuntu council meeting to discuss this will be held via IRC, from
17.30-19.30 IST, on Tue., 3 Mar., 2006, in the #ubuntu-meeting channel
on Freenode (freenode.net). It would be nice to have some discussions
on this beforehand, e.g., what kind of support can we provide for
Ubuntu, how it will be organized, what can we get out of it (customized
Indian-language Ubuntu distros,...) etc. If you are interested, you can
add yourself to the Indian LoCo team via the AddYourNameHere link in
the People section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IndianTeam.

Regards,
Gora

Ankit
Plainly speaking you are not likely to get help if you top post, use
non-English words or try to use abbreviation. You will do better if
you can spend some time reading list rules or ettiquetes. Two guys
before me have pointed this out in joking manner but since you ignored
this I am writing this in plain language for your consideration.

Now on to the problem:
1. Are you sure your pen drive is recognised as /dev/sda1 ?? Run as
sudo or root "tail -f /var/log/messages" before you connect the drive.
Now see the output when you connect There are other ways of finding
the device, read the net.
2. Once identified run as sudo or root "mount -t vfat /dev/sda1
/mnt/mountpoint. Make sure that /mnt/mountpoint exists or run mkdir to
create this.
3. If you want automounting then you will have to dig in deeper and do
"man fstab" Understand how this works and then go ahead. Alternatively
find distro like Ubuntu that is already set to do so.

Hope this is clear. Enjoy.
