I think that there should be a public discussion of Freed, and
how does ILUG-Delhi feel it should be positioned in the future.
E.g., should we go for a larger, more professionally produced
event like foss.in, a slick event aimed at corporations like
Linux-Asia, or should we break it up into smaller, more
focused events. Feedback on this year's events, and a discussion
on how to increase participation should also be on the agenda.

I thought that we had agreed on the third Sun. of each month,

Cs servers are usually run on nix servers through hamachi, But you
need a lot of Ram and a good graphics card to play cs on wine.

I have played AOE on wine some time back , But it doesn`t seems to
have the ability of playing multiplayer.

But UT and Quake rocks, You will get a better FPS than any winblows

Planning to get my hands dirty on wow,

Would love to learn more from some more gamers.

How about a talk on LInux gaming in next ILUGD meet, Anybody Vikram,

2007-10-10 Thread Yadu Rajiv
lol.. gaming needs are threatened hehehe.. that was funny but true lol..

erm.. some stuff i thought i'd say..

imho, lack of good AAA linux game titles are actually one huge reason
for people stopping from jumping over from windoze boxes.. i am one of
them :( + the developement environments and tools are not easy.. lack
of gfx support!? really.. when i bought an 8800 and tried it on my
ubuntu, 1st issue was the lack of drivers :( and what is the point of
having a gfx card if u dont have good games to play on it :( *sigh*

as for development tools.. its not for the weak of heart! kekeke..
which is kinda ok.. since gamedev is not for everyone lol..

some more links.. - http://www.linuxgames.com/

ps: does anyone know any one is into game development here?

more ps : pls do come down to tAP to talk games when you guys have time..
tAP forums - http://www.theangrypixel.com/forum
tAP blog - http://www.theangrypixel.com
you just might bump into like minded gamers ^^

happy gamingz ^^

even more ps: now speaking of meetups :( i wish i was in delhi just
for that *sigh*

The i386 version has to forced and then it will not be very stable
according to some. They have a dangerous alpha version for 64-bit too.
My question was more about user experience.

[ilugd] Upgrade from etch to Lenny

2007-10-10 Thread Mani A
This is a modified version of a tutorial at pen-drive-linux.com. The
tutorial assumes that you are upgrading from a local hard drive
installation of Debian Etch (This will not work on a compressed
file-system )

Upgrading from Etch to Lenny:

Replace all occurrences of the string 'etch' with 'lenny' in the
file /etc/apt/sources.list.
Then type apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade at the shell and
follow the instructions if any.

If you have synaptic then it should be simpler.

[ilugd] Removing date mark from pictures

2007-10-10 Thread Sudev Barar
I went to Ladakh and Kashmir and took lot of pictures. Unfortunately I
wrongly set the date now all the pictures have date imprinted on them
wrongly. Is there any tool to remove the dates? I did read some where
that this information is stored alongwith the picture and is
modifiable.

In the meanwhile googling continues.

Re: [ilugd] Removing date mark from pictures

2007-10-10 Thread Chetan Thapliyal
As far as I know digital cameras store image information in EXIF format
along with the image. But I am not sure whether the date and time that
displays on the photograph come from the same or not. There are lots of
tools to edit this data. I have personally done it with IPTC using
imagemagick but never got a chance to try with EXIF. But I am quite sure
there would be open source tools and scripts for the same. What about GIMP?
