I can't recall clearly if Feisty busyboxed me when I rebooted after the hdd-crash. The behaviour documented in the bug seems to be crazy from the point of view of people who do not have KVM / physical access to their servers. I would be interested in knowing when this bug manifested itself for the first time, maybe we should pin mdadm to the last sane version, until this gets resolved. ~ViM -- Vipul Mathur vipul[at]linux-delhi.org ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Next Event: http://freed.in - February 22/23, 2008 Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/

Kenneth, Please do NOT abuse the Wiki culture by asking questions and raising issues through public Wiki document editing. If you have questions, raise them in the appropriate forum (either of the mailing lists this is CCed to). If you want to amend something in the document, just amend it (and let someone else un-amend if if s/he feels fit), or send a mail to either of these lists asking for amendment. In any case, defacing a document meant for public consumption is an act of vandalism. Since I'm guessing vandalism wasn't your intent, I'm letting it pass this time. The next time this happens I shall definitely don my ``heavy-handed suppression'' hat (aka grabbing the LART-stick) and push strongly for your registration on the ILUGD and Freed.in Wikis to be revoked. -- Raju -- Raj Mathur[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://kandalaya.org/ Freedom in Technology Software || February 2008 || http://freed.in/ GPG: 78D4 FC67 367F 40E2 0DD5 0FEF C968 D0EF CC68 D17F PsyTrance Chill: http://schizoid.in/ || It is the mind that moves ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Next Event: http://freed.in - February 22/23, 2008 Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/

How have others Linux RAID experience in recent Linux distros been? Running raid1 on Debian unstable for past 4 months. No issues. Worst I have had to face was a general system slowdown for sometime after some power failures while the array synced. -- Manish ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Next Event: http://freed.in - February 22/23, 2008 Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/

Running a server with Debian Etch (stable) with 15 RAID-5 volumes with 6 partitions in each volume + 2 RAID-1 volumes for the past 3 months. No issues so far. Of course, this isn't counting the thousands (OK, I exaggerate -- hundreds ;) of client machines I have scattered over the world with Debian and RAID-1, some running for over 3 years with that configuration. Blame Ubuntu if you like, but Debian certainly doesn't seem to have any issues with software RAID. [ilugd] GNOME Desktop File Appearance
Dear Exoperts, i am using Opensuse 10.3 Gnome Desktop. Whenever i save any openoffice writer, impress, spreadsheet or mpeg, jpeg file on the desktop, this is showing the the very big picture of that file or text of the file. Which is giving a very ugly look to the desktop. Just tell me that what settings are required to change this view. Vijay Thakur Allengers Network Engineer Chandigarh - Why delete messages?
