[ilugd] Follow-up on ABES, Ghaziabad workshop, 23/8/08
Hi, The workshop last Sat, 23rd Aug., at the ABES Engineering College was a success, with some 100-odd students, faculty from several colleges, and other people in attendance. A fair amount of interest was also generated in ILUG-Delhi, and we will hopefully have more people coming to meetings. I have added copies of presentations to the Wiki page at http://wiki.linux-delhi.org/cgi-bin/twiki/Main/ABESGhaziabadWorkshop Supreet, and Shantanu, please upload your presentations. I have also added my views on the workshop under the Feedback section of the above page, and would encourage other attendees to do the same. We should have several more workshops in the next few months, and I will be writing up some of my thoughts on such a programme. In the meantime, it would also help if we could have a discussion on how one ensures a continued engagement with the colleges after such workshops. Re: [ilugd] Follow-up on ABES, Ghaziabad workshop, 23/8/08
Hi all, I think workshop was great and would surely motivate some students towards FOSS. What i can think of way of how to get colleges to get into some follow-up work in this direction is that maybe we can target faculty members rather then college as whole. I personally think if FOSS is promoted and used extensively in curriculum itself it will bring more people in this movement. Maybe we can target faculty members, having a workshop for them, asking them from commitments(even we can ask them to promote and encourage taking up projects in FOSS maybe for major projects of final year and mini one too). I remember even we tried to introduce FOSS as subject in our college after one such work shop but our so called senate turned it down :( regards shantanu - This email was sent using SquirrelMail. 2008/8/25 Pranith Kumar [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I've recently joined the ILUG-D group and am looking forward to meet fellow linux enthusiasts. Welcome on board. How often do you people arrange gatherings? and when is the next gathering going to happen??? While the effort is there to do it monthly the actual is more like every alternate month. We need people to make presentations to make meetings more interactive and you can contribute. Check with Gora, the current boss man, on when the next one is scheduled. Right now looking at conducting series of workshops at colleges, -- Regards, Sudev Barar Read http://blog.sudev.in for topics ranging from here to there. PS: I know most of people do not follow email niceties (mostly they are not aware) but if you follow bottom post/in-line post style of email conversations it becomes a whole lot easier to carry on meaningful dialogue and you can snip out what is not meaningful too. Most people just hit reply button and top post leaving prior message appended uselessly at bottom. See if you can adopt this style and persuade others. In case you are already doing this . great, spread the message. ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/

Also, is'nt Gora on this list?? Do I need to contact him individually?
