iMac G5 not installing OS?
Hi, I have an iMac G5 with an isight camera that I got in a trade. The owner told me it just needs a hard drive, so I ran down to my local computer store and spent $50 on a 160GB SATA hard drive. Installed it in there and fired it up. booted to the boot selection menu, where I inserted the disc. It takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes to finish loading the boot selection menu, and then when I click the install disc, it goes to the apple screen, but no spinning lines under it. It never loads the spinning loading symbol. I was wondering if anyone had any input to this idea. I have tried target disc mode, and it boots into it after around 15 minutes, but it does not show anything on my MacBooks or PowerBooks desktop. Not sure what is going on here but would love it get it going, very nice machine with the 1.9ghz PowerPC G5. I am trying to install Tiger by the way. Thanks! eMac Mod?
I have the original 700mhz eMac G4 with a DVD Superdrive (installed it myself) and 1GB of RAM. I have added an airport card. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to overclock one, and if anyone knows how paint will turn out on one, as the one I bought was from a smoking home so the front panel is slightly yellowed and I plan on painting it black, to match my black MacBook Jeremiah Stevens -- You received this message because you are a member of the iMac Group, a group for those using Apple iMacs and eMacs. Re: Replacing the logic board in a G3?
If it doesn't have firewire you must mean the tray loader. The boards are shaped differently between the two, so I would just reccomend finding a cheap g3 firewire capable model with a dead board and hook it up in that. I upgraded my Indigo iMac G3 (500mhz) with a 600mhz board out of a graphite with a smashed case, with a gig of ram this thing flies Jeremiah Stevens From: Christian Wacker pizzaboy...@gmail.com To: imaclist imaclist@googlegroups.com Sent: Mon, March 15, 2010 10:51:01 AM Subject: Replacing the logic board in a G3? My school almost threw out a good logic board for a G3 iMac (400mhz with firewire) and I'm curious if it'll work to upgrade my 350mhz FireWire-less iMac slotload. What i'm wondering is: 1: How easy is it to replace it? 2: should I be worried about heat issues? 3: what kind of damage could this board do to my good imac base if it's gone bad since it was last used (The CRT went out on the donor system, and the board was removed, and placed in storage for parts, but was almost thrown out during spring cleaning.)? 10.4 on iMac Tray Loading?
Hey, I was wondering how smoothly Tiger would run on an iMac G3 tray loader. Any ideas? Re: .....Upgrading G3 memory
What Color/version is your iMac G3? Some of them can handle 512 while others can only handle 256 Jeremiah Stevens From: thomas head headbon...@gmail.com To: imaclist@googlegroups.com Sent: Sun, November 8, 2009 11:00:38 AM Subject: .Upgrading G3 memory I am trying to get my G3 to recognize two new sticks of 512. They are out of an identical machine and I have followed all the instructions but to no avail. Is there a secret to this thing that I have missed?
