[IMail Forum] Upgrading to Imail 6.05 to 6.06

2004-03-15 Thread IMail

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade from IMail 6.05 to 6.06
to work around the SMTP Auth issue.
Are there any known issues related to this
upgrade?  Will all our accounts and settings be intact after
upgrade?
Any tips towards this upgrade.

Regards,
Aparna

There are a number of grammatical and spelling errors in that short
paragraph. Not sure if that matters to you.

"IP addresses" may be too technical; "mail servers" may be easier to
comprehend.

RE: [IMail Forum] DNSBL/RBL descripotion

2004-03-15 Thread isp-lists [at] beachcomp.com
This is what I came up with:
A Blacklist, also known as a DNSBL is a list of know internet IP addressed
known to be the origin of email considered as spam.
Most blacklists are end user driven, and will list an IP address once a
certain of abuse reports have been received.
The Beach Computers Spam protection system utilizes these lists to keep
known Spam from reaching your inbox.

What do you think?
This is purely for end users, and I didn't want to use too many terms to
overwhelm them.

[IMail Forum] Subscribe and Digest mode

2004-03-15 Thread Randy Terry
Hello all,

got an easy question for someone I am sure.

I have read/know all about subscrive and changing to digest mode.
But...
I want to have users that are subscribe in standard digest mode to also get
a weekly digest.
Is this possible? I think I can manually add them to both list boxes but
that is to much to do.
Is there a command to send that combines these two features?

Thanks

Just a note on this: 'rebuilding' a Q file is impossible without
access to the SMTPD logs, since in the D file you only have access to
the message headers and body, not the envelope information.

You're not really making the issue clear, or at least clear vis-a-vis
IMail.

You're implying that these customers are hitting Webshield and an
unnamed second gateway before hitting the Net at large. If that second
gateway is trying to loop back and hit IMail, but is trying its public
IP (as resolved via a public DNS record--yet all three machines are on
a private subnet--routing will break. Only that second server's logs
know for sure, which is why it's surprising that you're pointing to
IMail instead of posting such logs.

If you do indeed have the private/public setup I describe, it is
traditional to either have static 'mailroutes' on each internal server
or use internal-only DNS servers for internal domains. Using public
DNS to route to private IPs is a no-go in most cases.

You don't? :)

The built-in IMail Client would be the appropriate tool for this task.
Its option 'Forward With Headers Intact' is akin to a 'redirect' or
server-side forward, and it can send on- or off-server. And yes,
messages can be selected and forwarded via query.

are these "D" or "Q" filesIf both you can initiate a queue run from the
command prompt by typing smtp32 -qr -x from the IMail directory...If just
"D" files you will have to re-build the "Q" file...See the KB about what
needs to be in the "Q" file
...if just the "Q"
files then you don't have any bodies so no sense sending them.

Re: [IMail Forum] Reprocess SMD files

2004-03-15 Thread R. Scott Perry

I know this has been asked before, but I'm in a bind and need some quick
info.
How do I get Imail to Reprocess SMD files in the spool dir?
Mx chocked earlier today, and there's a bunch stuck and not going anywhere.
If you're running IMail v8, they should get delivered automatically. With
IMail v7 and earlier, you go to the "View Queue" in IMail Administrator,
and click the "Send All" button about 10-20 times to get them sent out
quickly (each time you click it, one new process is devoted to "working the
queue").

However, if there is a problem (D*.SMD with no Q*.SMD or the E-mails can't
be delivered for some reason), you would need to identify the source of the
problem (usually a DNS issue).

Not sure, I am running the programs downloaded from here:
http://www.turner3d.net/UBMSetup.exe and
http://www.turner3d.net/PLMSetup.exe
I am running these on Windows 2003 server just fine now. Maybe an old
version got copied up there. Curt may have to check it out.

Per http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/cidr.ch?ip=66.117.0.0 , that
corresponds
to a CIDR range of 66.117.0.0/19.

Per http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/cidr.ch?ip=66.117.0.0%2F19 , you want
to
use a subnet mask of 255.255.224.0.

Well, this happens to be the third time I've tried to get answers to this
subject. Someone told me before that "if you're running Windows 2003,
that's your problem" - which of course didn't help me at all because that
statement was missing a lot of detail. I need to know if it truly will not
work on Windows Server 2003, and if so, why it won't work. So that perhaps
I can figure out how to make it work. I can't be the only person using
Windows Server 2003 who wants to use these utilities...

RE: [IMail Forum] URL Blacklist Manager/Phrase List Manager

2004-03-15 Thread Travis Rabe
In the archives it is posted as a Known Windows 2003 bug with Vb scripting.
Someone mentioned that they had found this answer in a MS 2003 forum.
That's all I know. I am using in on Windows 2000 Pro via mapped network
drive and on Windows NT 4 server - no problems here.

Per http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/cidr.ch?ip=66.117.0.0 , that corresponds
to a CIDR range of 66.117.0.0/19.

Per http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/cidr.ch?ip=66.117.0.0%2F19 , you want to
use a subnet mask of 255.255.224.0.

Re: [IMail Forum] Blocking a large IP range

2004-03-15 Thread R. Scott Perry

I want to block this IP range in the SMTP access control
66.117.0.0 - 66.117.31.255
Can someone tell me the proper subnet mask to use ?
Per http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/cidr.ch?ip=66.117.0.0 , that corresponds
to a CIDR range of 66.117.0.0/19.

Per http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/cidr.ch?ip=66.117.0.0%2F19 , you want to
use a subnet mask of 255.255.224.0.

RE: SPAM-HOLD: [IMail Forum] Move multiple messages out of root-bulk

2004-03-15 Thread Lukasz Kaminski
The problem I have is the messages in question are caught in the root-bulk
folder for a virtual domain, so they need to be routed back to the initial
recipient. About 100 hundred accumulated (automated form messages) before
the rules were updated. I wish I could just throw them back in the spool.
At any given time there are several thousand messages in root-bulk folder,
so the only way of locating specific messages is by using the search tool,
which in turn does not allow me to check off the messages so they can be
moved elsewhere.

If you just want to move them to a different folder for the same user you
can use the Web messaging. Just check the messages you want and move them to
the other folder...If you want to forward them to a different address
altogether this would be something to do with a client...Sorry I don't know
of one that will do this for you...

Hi,
I don't suppose anybody out there has a decent filter file built on the
subject line they would be willing to share?

Re: SPAM-HOLD: [IMail Forum] Move multiple messages out of root-bulk

2004-03-15 Thread E. Shanbrom \(Ipswitch\)
If you just want to move them to a different folder for the same user you
can use the Web messaging. Just check the messages you want and move them to
the other folder...If you want to forward them to a different address
altogether this would be something to do with a client...Sorry I don't know
of one that will do this for you...

It wasn't fixed until 7.1x, so you might as well upgrade to the latest 8.x.
