Not sure what you mean with "with ssh". What I do is log into the
machine with ssh, and then:
cyradm -u cyrus localhost
testsaslauthd -u paul -p xx -f /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd/mux

cyradm problem

2018-09-14 Thread bluntroller via Info-cyrus
Day,
I totally dislike it but I need help here.
I have postfix installed, up and running as a MTA.
I have saslauthd installed up and running and an authentication server.
I use the auxprop-sasldb2 alternative as a user/password database (and thought
this were the easiest way to get it all up before turning to the mysql option,
automating procedures, php-scripting etc)
I can do remote-logins into my server via sasl authentication.
I can do remote-logings into my (imaps) server with the aid of TLS Certificates
only.
I do not use the POP3 protocol at all.
I do not use unsecured connections at all.
Everything goes over TLS/sasl authentication/authorization.

However...
If it comes to testsaslauthd, imtest or cyradm I can't connect to
localhost.localdomain (via SSH) on my remote server or get a 'can't connect to
server' (cyradm) reply.
I'm pretty sure it's a simple configuration problem or misunderstanding of the
stack at all but I am stuck finding the needle in the haystack.
It's probably a SSH problem but I am not sure.
Inside SSH I use a certificate-based authentication too with root-logins not
allowed ('without password')

Any help is very appreciated.

what happens if you do --auth LOGIN
instead of PLAIN?

PLAIN requires start TLS. The version of Cyrus you are using probably
doesn't support startTLS with cyradm.

If I'm using 'lm' (as admin user) I could see ALL mailboxes! Maybe you've not
the rights to see all? Are you logged in as the admin (/etc/imapd.conf) of
the cyrus-imap?

AFAIK this is an IMAP command. You can use it if your using 'imtest' or telnet
f.e. AFTER authentification (as admin). You can't use them inside cyradm

If you want to list your mailboxes out of cyradm, then you have to
use the "listmailbox" or "lm" command. If you type "help" you will
get a couple of other commands related to cyradm.
If you want to list only mailboxes from a singe virtual domain, use

There is definitely a mailbox "[EMAIL PROTECTED]". I cannot
create it again (just as I shouldn't be able to) and I can send to
that mailbox, access it via POP3 and IMAP4 - no problem.

It is just that the mailboxes are not being listed, everything else
works. I recall something like that a long time ago and it was due to

Cyrus IMAP 2.2.8 virtual domains "on".
What is the IMAP command to list mailboxes? I've tried:

I downgrade sasl to 2.1.15, as proposed in bug report and now all works
fine.

Was seeing the same error here with Cyrus-2.2.3 & Sasl-2.1.17. The
interesting thing is that it only showed up when we enabled AES for
kerberos (Heimdel).

The simplest fix, though I cannot remember who first proposed it, was to
modify src/plugins/gssapi.c in SASL:

GSSAPI cyradm problem

2004-04-11 Thread Dmitry P. Schegolev
I test cyrus 2.2.3 with gssapi. When I try to login with cyradm under
admin,

cyradm --user admin --auth gssapi mail.ackerbell.com

I got cyradm segfault. The log of imapd reports that user successfully
logged
in.
The common log has the following:

Apr 10 23:45:24 kenwood perl: encoded packet size too big (4163 > 4096)
Apr 10 23:45:40 kenwood perl: GSSAPI Error: A token was invalid (Token

How to locate & solve this bug?

Hi, all

I found a solution for the cyradm problem (cyrus-imapd-2.2.3) under Solaris
9.
I just ported some code from imclient.c of cyrus-imapd-2.0.17 into the new
imclient.c. See the attached patch.

Now cyradm seems to work.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# cyradm --user imap localhost
IMAP Password:
localhost.tu-graz.ac.at> lm
user.test (\HasChildren)
[.]
So far so good but
I have very limited C-programming skill so I don't know if I might have
introduced some problems by doing this.

As far as I see the only files in which the modified function
"imclient_connect" is used are the following:

perl/IMAP/IMAP.c line 349
netnews/remotepurge.c line 718
I'm not very happy with my solution, because there must have bee a reason
for the developers to change the old code from cyrus-2.0.17 to the newer
one. But for now it was the only way for me to solve the cyradm issue.
I would appreciate it very much if a developer of cyrus could make a
comment on that. Or even provide a solution which will also work and be
present in future releases.

Thanks

Hi Didi,

I have not tried to compile cyrus-imapd on my Solaris 9 box, but I had
a similar problem with OpenLDAP 2.1.24 in that the slapd daemon would
refuse to connect, and would most of the times crash.
To fix the problem, I had to explicitely set the 'ai_protocol' member
of the 'hints' variable to '0' (as it is in Cyrus-IMAPD, it was
unspecified in OpenLDAP).
In theory, this should not be necessary, or so I understand as the C
compiler should interprit the null value as '0'. I am using gcc 3.3.2 on
my Solaris 9 box.
So, you might try this patch and see if it helps:

Cyrus should work fine on that. I suspect you've run into the problem of
the perl modules being placed in /usr/local/lib.. and Perl is looking
for them in /usr/lib One fix for that is to do:

# perllib= lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi
# cd /usr/$perllib
# ln -s /usr/local/$perllib/Cyrus /usr/$perllib/Cyrus
# ln -s /usr/local/$perllib/auto/Cyrus /usr/$perllib/auto/Cyrus

The instructions said to use Windows 98 or better, so I installed
RedHat.

I installed Cyrus in /usr/local and this worked for me:
'export PERL5LIB=/usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1/i386-linux-thread-multi'
thereby adding this path to perl's @INC and working around the problem.

If you have the same issue then it may work for you, although you will have to
adjust the path for your setup (5.8.0.instead of 5.8.1).

Cannot run cyradm....problem with perl.

2004-02-13 Thread trichard
This is driving me nuts. Finally got cyrus-imapd v2.2.3 to compile and
install. I am able to test authentication successfully using imtest.

Now when I try and run cyradm I get the below error. Can anyone please
help me get over this hump? I cannot seem to get around this issue.

Thanks!

cyradm problem on Solaris x86 - help needed

2004-01-08 Thread saiful hakim
Dear all,
After compiling cyrus-imapd with no problem on solaris x86, I can't make
cyradm work, details below. I have tried all cited in this mailist
archive, but still the same error. Any pointers will be highly
appreciated.

Configuration :
- cyrus-sasl-2.1.17
- cyrus-imapd-2.1.16
- solaris x86 8 2/02
- perl 5.8.0

Symptom : Error message on cyradm :

Can't load

Configuration detail of imapd :

--with-openssl=/usr/local/ssl --without-ucdsnmp

# make depend
# make all CFLAGS=-O

Perl modules, I have checked everything's there :

This usually happens when the account is not created by cyrus.

Make sure you entered the correct username/password for the cyrus user into the
web-cyradm database,
and make sure you can use both of those with the command line cyradm as described in
section 9.4.

If both of those seem good, try to recreate the account and then look in
/var/spool/imap/user/* for the actual mailbox directory.

The . is the separator. user.mail.admin is the 'admin' mailbox belonging
to the 'mail' user. So you're probably trying to create a box for a user
(mail) that doesn't exist yet.

Check out the "unixhierarchysep" directive in imapd.conf.

Luca,

I've compiled your cyrus-sasl-2.1.2-2.src.rpm and installed it.

I didn't test "imtest" before I upgraded it but did afterwards and can't
authenticate.

if I type:

# cyradm --user cyrus -s my.host.com

it works but if I type:

# imtest -m login -u cyrus -a cyrus -r my.host.com my.host.com

It telnets into the imap server ok but won't authenticate (screen results):

I fell for that too (first tried with -u and didn't work), but the
current manpage doesn't mention short style options at all, so I think
they're gone.

cyradm problem?... cyrus-imapd-2.1.4

2002-05-11 Thread jeff bert

I installed cyrus-imap-2.1.4 and have found a quirk that I don't know if
it's a bug, change in feature or what. When I try to connect to the cyrus
server via the command (same I successfully used in 2.0.15):

# cyradm -u cyrus -s my.host.com

it hangs up and won't connect... but if I run it with:

# cyradm --user cyrus -s my.host.com
Password:
my.host.com>

success.

This install is on a totally fresh system on which I just re-installed Linux
(heh, because I accidently typed "rm -fr" in the wrong terminal window a
couple of days ago! luckily it's just the box i use for testing and
evaluation so no biggie). Here's my details:

Linux-Mandrake 8.1 (kernel 2.4.8)
BerkeleyDB3.3
cyrus-imapd-2.1.4 (installed from Luca Olivetti's src.rpm)
cyrus-sasl-2.1.2 (installed from Luca Olivetti's src.rpm)
gcc-2.96
perl-5.601

So, is this a bug in my system or a "feature" of 2.1.4? Any ideas? Or have
they actually implemented the man page's warning that Tcl short style
options may be done away with?

If they have done away with them, how does that affect the perl programming
side?

thanks,

Jeff

Re: cyradm problem

2001-11-07 Thread Marcelo Romaniuc

Hi,

   Bingo! Just found the error...
Just to keep a documentation on the mailing list:

cyradm fails when trying to open "/dev/tty" (my
/dev/tty had permission 622). Changing it to 666
solves the problem. The code that fails is below:

if (!defined($opts{-password})) {
  my $tty = (IO::File->new('/dev/tty', O_RDWR) ||
 *STDERR || *STDIN || *STDOUT);
  $tty->autoflush(1);
  $tty->print("IMAP Password: ");
  my $ostty;
  chomp($ostty = `stty -g`);
system "stty -echo -icanon min 1 time 0
2>/dev/null || stty -echo cbreak";
  chomp($opts{-password} = $tty->getline);
  $tty->print("\013\010");
  system "stty $ostty";
}

BTW, thanks for the script you sent me.. it helped
understanding how the perl IMAP module works!

Hi,

I'm stuck on this problem for a while (hope someone
can give me a solution)
When I call "cyradm localhost" I got the following
message:

$cyradm localhost
IMAP Password:

  Login failed: authentication failure at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i586-linux/Cyrus/IMAP/Admin.pm
line 78
cyradm: cannot authenticate to server with as cyrus

The cursor waits for about 5 seconds (for my
password) and then prints the "Login failed" message.
Doesn't matter if I type or not the password -
sometimes the message is printed during the password
typing...

Any help will be welcome!

Thanks

go to $CYRUS_SOURCE_DIR/perl/imap

This will install cyradm into your perl directory structure. (if perl=/usr/bin/perl

Cyradm problem (actually, probably a Perl problem)

2001-05-04 Thread Rolfe Tessem

Hello all,

I've gotten my Cyrus 2.0.13 installation up and running on a RH 6.2.3 box
thanks to the archives of this list but have one remaining hurdle.

Cyradm won't initialize and I get the following error message:

root@imap rolfe]# cyradm
Can't locate Cyrus/IMAP/Shell.pm in @INC (@INC contains:
/usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.00503
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005
.).
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted.

I assume that cyradm is looking for parts of perl and can't fine them in
any of the above paths. ..Cyrus/IMAP/Shell.pm is actually located in
/usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-linux.

How do I correct the path searched or do whatever else needs to be done
to make this play. A simple symbolic link didn't work.

Thanks,

Rolfe

Cyradm problem...

2001-03-15 Thread Anil Jangity

Hi all.

[TIA]

I just compiled the latest version of Cyrus (tried CVS version too). The compile
itself goes smoothly, no problems. But, when thats done I try to run cyradm and
it fails to see the SASL libs.

Which perl/makefile needs fixing?

venus# ldconfig -r |grep sasl
71:-lsasl.8 => /usr/local/lib/libsasl.so.8
venus# strings /usr/local/lib/libsasl.so.8 |grep sasl_client_init
sasl_client_init
