Re: [IRCA] Where were you on 22 November 1963?

2006-11-22 Thread Patrick Martin
It is interesting to read the reports on where people were. Living in
Alaska in the 60s, we felt like we lived in the 3rd World nation in many
regards. For one thing, the outcome of the election for the President
was known long before our polls closed. My mother used to always mention
that. Living in Alaska, being so far from Washington D.C., we never
really "connected" to the rest of the US all that much. I remember
getting home from school and hearing about it. I am not even sure we had
TV then. In the mid 60s sometime, a TV tech put up a translator 18 miles
North of Seward and relayed KENI 2 (ABC/NBC) out of Anchorage running 10
watts on Ch 9. We would have decent TV when there was no snow storm, but
that was it. Before that, no TV for years. KENI-2 I think ran like 5 KW
V and 2 KW audio in those days. Not much power as I remember. But even
in the 7th or 8th Grade, it did not have the impact on me that it did in
the South 48. It was sad I remember, as my parents voted for Kennedy and
they liked him. Alaska was different in those days. I remember we
studied Alaska History, not so much US History. We sang "Alaska's Flag"
in class rather than SSB. In 1955 when we first went to Alaska, it was
not even a state. But we were not all that connected with the rest.
Hawaii in many ways in like that too.

good morning! :-(

Yes indeed.

No new loggings but lots of mysteries, like maybe a jammer on 675
(anybody know about that? sounded a bit like the one on 1053, but
only noticeable with the BFO), and pretty fair audio on channels like
1017 and 1035. And hearing 945 rise up to rather amazing volume was a
treat. But again, stuff was erratic. Both at 1400 and 1500UT, the
bottom dropped out of what I was trying to log across the hour, then,
as with 945, if you stuck around for a minute, something might rise
out of the mud. Or...if I heard audio on 603 (which I did) and
returned a moment later to try to ID it by // with 594it was gone.

Possibly things will not be quite so good tomorrow with the increased
geomagnetic activity. Having made that discouraging prediction, I
must note that 774 has fair audio in the splash at 0640UT...local
sunset in Akita not for another 40 minutes.

I was in seventh grade, third period English class at the time.

An office helper came into the classroom with a stack of papers, handed
one to the teacher, and left. She glanced at it briefly, and then
dashed across the hall to the office, apparently to confirm that the
message was true. She then came back and read it to the class.

School was let out a couple hours early that day. Just after lunch as I
recall. Needless to say, everyone was quite sad.

KJR ran organ music instead of the usual top 40. I don't recall how the
other local stations handled the situation.

Tim,

Back then it was known as "The Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy", but
changed it's name around that time to "The University of Missouri at Rolla".
Considerable consternation amongst the student body of the time, denying
town deserved recognition considering it's attitude toward the students --
who were, of course, perfect little angels. As you can imagine from what
was a nearly all boys school.

Located in Rolla, MO, obviously, it was and still is an engineering and
sciences oriented school/university, but now with a more diverse offering of
other curricula. My particular major was in Electrical Engineering.

There, more than anyone wanted to ever know.

Re: [IRCA] Where were you on 22 November 1963?

2006-11-22 Thread Bob Foxworth

> > Where were you on 22 November 1963?

That year I got a job as 8p-mid "air talent" at the 1340
in Winston Salem NC. I had a written contract!! making
the princely sum of $88/week (my overnight in Durham
paid 65 so I was happy to move). The contract was
basically a joke, except for the non-compete 6 month,
the 1st of only 2 times in my life I ever had one.

I was living in a rented spare bedroom in some guy's
house along with another jock, one "Bob Kelly" on the air.
"Kelly" drove one of the famous Corvairs (rear engine
and all that) that Ralph Nader made famous. I had a
55 Olds and I think that was the car I then drove in
those years.

We all had fake air names, copied from real, authentic
successful jocks in other markets. This was the
doing of the PD, who made the princely sum of $300
per week. More on him later.

I was home during the day and tuning around on my
RCA 810-K1 and tuned past WDNC with the first
JFK bulletin, I had just finished a log on 540 WRIC
Richlands Va, as I recall, for a report that never
got sent. I and everyone else, was on hand at the
station within the hour. No "phone tree" (I did not
even have a phone, anywhere) -- we just showed up.

We dumped format, actually the on-air jock and
the secretary made that decision. PD was not
then to be found, for some unknown reason. One
of them made the decision to call in a local minister
who did an impromptu, unscripted eulogy which
was quite moving and garnered a lot of good local
press coverage, as none of the other stations had
done this. I think it was around 2:15 PM. We played
the Star Spangled Banner out of the eulogy and
then went classical. People had to go home to find
and bring in classical LP's to play. I think the
station's record library fit on one shelf.

You can imagine the print media, limited by the
choke-point of the AP wire (just like us) all
frantically tuning in all the radio media to try and
get that little bit of "extra" that they did not have,
and imagined we did. That's how the eulogy got
picked up so well. That was a nice coup for us.

Or else, just to see how far behind the curve we
were.

The then-missing PD (his initials were JHV) soon
materialized and demanded we "return to format"
(a tight playlist Top-40). The market leader in
Top-40, WTOB 1380 didn't do that and neither did we.
Hal, the PD, was overruled on the format question
by everyone else there, and groused for 3 days
wishing they would "get him into the ground so we
could get back to format" as he was heard to say,
more than once.

Our station was regarded as a lightweight in the
Top 40 ratings compared to TOB. I think the eulogy
bit got us more favorable PR than anything else
that was done - and it was opposed by the PD !

I was just turning 21 then. Like just a few things in
a lifetime, I remember that afternoon with great
clarity, but much less of the surrounding days.
Not having a TV, I never saw the Ruby shooting.
Hrd about it from a girl I knew, the next day.
That girl (then) Susan Cash still (presumably) has
my high school ring, the price I paid for not
accepting her "suggestion" of marriage.

Hard to now imagine life without TV, a phone, no
FM radio*, computer/internet, hardly even an
address, just a PO box. But we managed,
and had a full life with many experiences.

*The station actually had a RCA 10 kW FM
but it just simul'd the AM and no one cared
if it was off the air. A piece of coupling
line in the driver stage once opened up and it
was off the air until I figured out how to repair
it with a torch, fixing a crystallized solder joint.
I think it was a BTA-10F, It had six 673
mercury recifiers that were always tripping
the rig off. I will never forget that purple glow.

I remember loggings of KHVH-1040 from
the Hawaiian Village Hotel on some Sunday
mornings when WHO was silent on the 810
that year I spent in W-S. Had just a small loop.
Staying up until 3 AM was just something we did.

As PVZ remarked, I too heard nothing about it
(the anniversary) on any of the media coverage
I got today.

It's a different world now. But, as with every
year, there is much to give thanks for, as we will
do tomorrow, and afterwards.

Be well, all,

- Bob2240 est

of frequencies. 1593 was China here, // 5030 with a delay. Also heard

Rather jumpy cx for SSS tonite but we actually had the same ad on KKOB (trivial

and faded into increasing KDXU QRM w/KVOZ QRM (all this o/u phased WLS's talk)

2006-11-22 Thread Neil Kazaross
Thx to this thread I have found someone who suffered with that hag (many
expletives deleted) Bachman 4 years prior to my torment !

Anyhow..I was in kindergarden when JFK was shot and recall several days of
nothing but coverage on TV. However, I recall absolutely nothing about the
Cuban Missile Crisis the year prior other than what I have studied about it
for several term papers..etc over my school years.

Re: [IRCA] memories of Friday, November 22,1963

2006-11-22 Thread Patrick Griffith, N0NNK / WPE9HVW
I was in my 5th grade classroom at Prairie Hill Elementary School in
rural northern IL. My teacher was Mr. Flynn a retired Army drill
sergeant who ran a very tight classroom. He was the only male teacher in
the school. He never sat and was constantly in motion making his way
slowly around the classroom always armed with a 4 foot wooden pointer
with a rubber tip. His schtick was sneaking up behind people who were
snoozing or otherwise misbehaving and whacking their desk, or sometimes
the student, with the pointer. He was a very tough guy and had us all
shaking in our shoes. The principal announced the sad news over the
school PA system. I don't think that I really comprehended the meaning
of the news at the moment. But I will never forget that Mr. Flynn
finally sat down at his desk. He was visibly shaken by the news. He told
us to read our texts and he remained seated and mostly silent for the
rest of the afternoon. I also recall that later in the day an entourage
of the principal, the school nurse, and the pastor from the church
across the street paid a very unusual visit to each classroom and led us
in prayer.

Re: [IRCA] Bert- Re: Where were you on 22 November 1963?

2006-11-22 Thread Ira Elbert New, III
Sounds like she was a good ship...

The USS Ozark, named after an Indian tribe of the Quapaw confederacy living
in Missouri and Arkansas, was laid down as CM-7 (mine layer, first line) by
the Willamette Iron and Steel Corporation of Portland, Oregon, 12 July 1941.
She was launched 15 June 1942, re-designated transport AP-107 on 1 May 1943,
any yet again re-designated as landing ship vehicle LSV-2 on 21 April 1944,
and commissioned 23 September 1944. The Ozark was 458' long, had a 60' beam,
and was powered by twin General Electric, geared turbine drives producing
11,000 horsepower and a 20.3 knot cruising speed.

The Ozark saw action in the Pacific Theater of World War II, carrying troops
for the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, as well as other wartime
operations. After hostilities ceased, she participated in carrying
occupational troops into Tokyo Bay. Returning overseas troops to the U.S.
after the war, the Ozark transited the Panama Canal and arrived in New
Orleans 31 January 1946, where she was placed in upkeep status. She
commenced pre-inactivation overhaul in Orange, Texas, on 14 March and
decommissioned 29 June 1946.

The Ozark was again re-designated on 7 February 1955 from LSV-2 to MCS-2
(Catskill Class Mine Countermeasure Support Ship). After intermittent
service in the Mediterranean and South Atlantic, the USS Ozark was stricken
from the Naval Vessel Register on 1 April 1974, and designated as a target
ship on 1 September 1975. A few years later, a hurricane grounded the Ozark
on a local beach. After a monumental effort, the Ozark was pulled free and
eventually re-anchored off Destin.

Today, she rests upright and intact in 330' of water off Destin. The USS
Ozark is a massive wreck; the mast reaches to within 200' of the surface and
the crows nest can be found at 220'. The bow is heavily damaged, a result of
her collision with the seabed. Ripples are also obvious in the hull from the
impact. A hole in the deck is visible at the rear starboard corner of the
deck gun where one of the laser guided bombs penetrated the ship. The
rounded bridge is unique and makes a nice sight in good visibility. On my
first visit to the Ozark, I noted the intact running lights on both the port
and starboard sides. Artifacts abound within the interior. The main deck is
about 300'. Marine life is abundant on the wreck, with large numbers of
scamp, grouper, snapper, and amberjack swimming about. Deep water species
such as short bigeyes and snowy grouper can also be spotted amongst the
wreck. Fishing line covers the wreck.

[IRCA] Where were you on 22 November 1963?

2006-11-22 Thread Pete Taylor
I was on the air at KFOG (wall-to-wall middle of the road during
midday). We switched to classical music. I vaguely recall the news
machine going bonkers. It was not the easiest announcement I have
ever had to make...

I think we ran classical music through the funeral and then took the
opportunity to bow out of our evening block programming (Broadway
6-7, Hawaiian 7-8, different ones each night 8-10, Ernie McDaniels
stereo demo 10-mid [competing with Jim Gabbert]) in favor of MOR 18
hours a day (we weren't 24 hours).

Right -

JFK in bigga trouble, hadda to shore up fast. Scurrilous wags in our class -
undersigned among them - took strong exception to cancellation of scheduled
shows in favor of those shamelessly promoting gratuitous caterwauling.

Several days outa school pleased many regardless of circumstances. Also,
history made w/first mass viewing of unscheduled shooting a la Oswald.

During era, Haiti's Dr. F.X. 'Papa Doc' Duvalier broadcast live executions
onna tv & radio - but these were scheduled.

Where's the fun in that?

Didn't Dallas detectives look sharp in white Resistols & Stetsons? Googled
around, can't find name of Detective in white hat standing to left of Ozzy &
Ruby in famous Jackson photo. Once knew it. Southern Scots-Irish sounding,
Ahearn? Similar. Interviewed not long ago. Plenty astute, didn't look much
different.

We enjoyed reading his statement, "Jack, you son of a B". Chagrined to
learn we couldn't use it in class for 'extra' credit.

Probably throwing a monster temper tantrum because all my Saturday morning

to recall it (or the defending Stanley Cup champion Leafs repeating in
1963-64). But I was a little older on April 4 and June 5-6, 1968, and
vividly recall the assassinations of MLK Jr and RFK.

Quite possibly JFK wouldn't have been re-elected in 1964. IIRC, that
Texas trip was intended to shore up support in a state he needed to win.

What I have learned from this topic.

I have learned that I am older than those who are younger than me; I am
younger than those who are older than me.

It appears, except for Kevin Redding, that I was closer to the action than
anyone who responded. Kevin was on a school field trip, about a block of so
closer than I. But Kevin was too young to know what was happening :)

Wish we could talk about WHY he was killed? BUT that is really off topic.
So let's not go there.

2006-11-22 Thread Milspec390
Wow!

Oswald's pluggery conveys heirloom status upon your RCA.

Isn't it interesting how event recalled elicits delightful details?

Bicycle home from school. Womenfolk hunkered around Zenith B&W Space
Command, weeping, writhing, wailing in hi-F# coluratura histrionics.

Neighborhood shot fulla doctors' offices. We lived above the old man's. All
at dead stop. Parking lots empty. No patients limping. No secretaries
cavorting. Deathly quiet outside stood in dystonic contrast to TV den operatics.

Alliance Tenna-Rotor (r) grabbed Boston as well as Providence sta's. All
covering K-WAC.

Crosby announced shooting only, no further details. Vividly recall thinking
we could easily learn more via brown Bakelite Zenith onna shelf behind Mrs.
Bachman's desk.

Policy clear: No radio during school hours. Exceptions? None. Nuclear war?
No. Suggest turning on? Understood implicity: you'd wish it was you onna slab.

Several days off begat ringside seat at Oswald vs. Ruby 'Grudge Match .38'

Or was it a .357?

Sadly, Space Command Zenith long gone.

JUST A THOUGHT

Where were you on 22 November 1963?

I had called in sick on this day. This was so I could go downtown and see
JFK and his parade. At 12 noon I was standing on the corner of Harwood and
Main as his motorcade went by. As his car turned onto Main St., Kennedy was
less than 10 feet from me. I can remember looking straight into eyes. I just
did not know what was about to happen to him.

This was about 5 blocks away from where he was murdered.

After the motorcade had passed, I started for home, there wasn't anything on
the car radio about his shooting. It wasn't till around 1230, and I was
almost home, in south end of Dallas county, that the radio came alive with
the news. Then everything was filled with news of President Kennedy's death.
Seems that every radio station suddenly came alive with the news of JFK's
murder. Even my favorite radio at that time, KIXL-1040 stopped the music and
went to news.

I will guess that most on this list were not yet born, or so small they had
not started to school.

I wonder what the country would have been like IF he had lived?

2006-11-22 Thread W. Curt Deegan
Tim,

Back then it was known as "The Missouri School of Mines and
Metallurgy", but changed it's name around that time to "The
University of Missouri at Rolla". Considerable consternation amongst
the student body of the time, denying town deserved recognition
considering it's attitude toward the students -- who were, of course,
perfect little angels. As you can imagine from what was a nearly all
boys school.

Located in Rolla, MO, obviously, it was and still is an engineering
and sciences oriented school/university, but now with a more diverse
offering of other curricula. My particular major was in Electrical
Engineering.

There, more than anyone wanted to ever know.

Re: [IRCA] Where were you on 22 November 1963?

2006-11-22 Thread Russ Edmunds

I was in 7th period Physics class in my Senior year in HS in Central
NJ. The announcement came over the loudspeaker/intercom system. We were
told to go home.

I also remember feeling that having nearly every radio station I
normally listened to broadcast nothing but somber funeral music for
over a week afterward.

I was a DX'er at that point, and soon discovered that what I could hear
with 'regular' programming was likely Canadian, so I actually added a
few stations to my log because of that.

Re: [IRCA] Where were you on 22 November 1963?

2006-11-22 Thread Bob Young

I was in the third grade and in school. The principle came on the
loudspeaker and announced either that he had been shot or had been shot and
was dead, I'm not sure which. I do know that it was a moment that is etched
in my mind and will be forever. My young mind could not fully comprehend
what had happened at that moment or even in the next few days when all
programs were cancelled and only footage of the funeral and motorcade etc.
were shown on TV. I saw Jack Ruby get shot live on national TV and that is
another monent I will never forget. I believe the world would have been a
much better place if he had been allowed to live and be the president that
the people willed he be. The Kennedy's were and still are a great family who
learned somehow that public service is probably one of the highest callings
on this earth especially if you have more than most. As you all know another
Kennedy was shot about 5 years later running for president and would have
won. I believe there are dark forces in this country (or world) that do not
want to see idealistic, liberal people such as Jack Kennedy be able to
change the status quo in this great big corporation that we call the USA.

I was a junior in college in Missouri.

As we heard the news on the car radio during lunch break, my buddies and I
were crossing over railroad tracks that ran through the center of the small
college town. The view is still clear in my memory of that one short
stretch of road.

I also recall sitting stunned during the first class that followed,
wondering why others didn't seem to be so affected. Of course it was
probably just my own perception, but I was sure I couldn't have stood and
lectured, my mind was so numb. I even remember where I was sitting -- near
the front, left side of the room, by the windows -- but have no idea what
class it was.

Everything seemed to collapse into a very egocentric view for that brief
moment in time. As if the mind were trying to shut out the bad news, but
too late.

1593 is about 50:50 China and NHK2 at this location, Chris; in higher sunspot
years, NHK2 is dominant.

China is parallel to 5030 and a number of others, no shortwave parallels for
NHK2, but 747, 774, 828 are possible.

Re: [IRCA] Where were you on 22 November 1963?

2006-11-22 Thread Chris Black
I was in my early twenties living in Paris and doing a variety of things to
keep from starving to death, one of which was to drive and also perform in
(as juggler) small entertainment units that worked in the various Officers
and NCO clubs on the military bases in France (that was before De Gaulle
threw us out).

A bunch of us had bundled into an old Citroen for an NCO club in Verdun,
France, about 2-3 hours from Paris, as I recall. It was early evening there
and I was warming up my act and we were getting ready to do our little
schtick, when they announced that the club was closing and the base was
going on alert due to the shooting of the President.

So we had to beat feet back to our hotel in Paris and hope that our
landlady, expecting us to be gone for a couple of days, had not sub-rented
our rooms, which was not that an uncommon a practice. Fortunately, we didn't
have to sleep in the lobby.

[IRCA] montana dx tests

2006-11-22 Thread Robbie j.
Thanks to all that wrote back. At 12:55 am I tuned in
680 and heard under KNBR one cw i.d. and a couple of
sweep tones. I then tuned to the other stations in the
test and heard nothing. I then retuned KKGR and heard
more sweep tones and maybe(not sure) another cw
i.d.(KNBR was very strong here that night) KKGR was
weak but copyable under the other station. I think
that it they hadn`t been so strong then I could have
given KKGR a better report. I was late to the test so
I wasn`t able to hear what if anything was sead or
done at its begining. I finallly tuned out at about
1:05 am. Hope this is a little better of a report.
Good dx to all, Robbie in wyoming

Fourth grade recess, athletic field, Providence, RI. Sunny, warm, breezy.
Abruptly called to classroom. Teacher Fran Bachman states Mr. Crosby enroute to
address us.

Aura of terror permeates room. Crosby was new Asst. Headmaster. He recently
'addressed' Grades 1 - 6 in Alumni Hall. We anticipated folksy avuncular 'let's
get acquainted' chat. Crosby had other thoughts. All blindsided as he laces
into us. Our table manners? 'Atrocious!' Classroom comportment? 'Savages!'
Academic prowess? 'Morons, idiots, yes even imbeciles do better than you pigs!"

Crosby Final Solution? 'Buckle down! Get to work! Or find another school -
one for fools!'

Today? Crosby arrested, we're 'traumatized for life', parents sue,
therapists descend..

Then? Different. Crosby meant business and we knew it. Get to work - or die.

Crosby enters amidst cold trepidation. States, 'JFK shot, we'd like you to go
home'. Blindsided again, albeit gently.

Subsequent to Crosby's ravening eminence noire, even assassinations - of
which there would be more - proved anticlimactic. Good psychology on his part
both for short run and remainder of our lives.

[IRCA] 1566 in NE Oregon

2006-11-22 Thread Steve Ratzlaff
Conditions were much like yesterday at first, with the usual LWBC 153, 180,
189, 234, 279 heard, and many MW hets with 828 with audio around 1310 utc.
PNG's KUT and GA also heard then. Soon after 774 and 594 had audio, 1318
utc.
With local sunrise at 1501 utc, 1566 began as weak audio at 1444utc, rising
to medium/loud at 1515utc, near-armchair level at times. 1593 was weak audio
at the same time. I continued to check 1566 every now and then. Signals were
better on the vertical wire with ALA100 than the longwire for 1566, but the
JJ stations were better on the wire. (The loop is aimed NW/SE, 100'
circumference.) At 1605 utc, occasional audio was still heard. At 1630 utc
many hets still heard--1197, 1053, 1044, 1035, 972, 954, 936, 828, 744, 747,
738, 729, 639, 594, 567, 558. 693 had weak audio. By 1634 utc 1566's het was
finally gone. I shifted to 693, and back to the wire. By 1730 utc 594 was
the only one left, with a weak het.

[IRCA] WOMN-1110

2006-11-22 Thread willis
Last night at 0250 EST, I ran across this station.

1110 WOMN LA FRANKLINTON 0250 22/11/06
"LOOKING SOMETHING POSITIVE? WE'RE CHRISTIAN AM1110, WOMN" [WM-TN]

The music they were playing sounded more like heavy rock than Christian.
They are suppose to be off the air at night, however they were blasting in
to Tennessee, over WBT-1110. Someone forgot to throw the big switch and turn
the AM off.

Re: [IRCA] 900 KNUI change in programming

2006-11-22 Thread Patrick Martin
Doug,

I read that too. I was sorry to hear that. As my old DX friend, Chuck
Boehnke told me that big mainland corporations were starting to buy up
Hawaiian stations, and as they did the old Hawaiian/Samoan/etc formats
would be going away for Mainland formats such as talk, sports, etc. I
saw it with KMVI 550 some years ago too. KNUI has a pretty good signal
here often, But I have not checked to see if they have changed.

Great going Chris. KAGV gets out well. I heard them last night here,
also KYUK 640. Lots of Northern Canadians also in very well. I sat on
1340 looking for Yellowknife, but no luck. Bits of a 2nd station behind
phased KNBR, may have been Barrow, but CHFA was giving it fits.
You should get HI in time. Bill Block heard KMVI 550 recently from AZ.
KPUA 670 gets out well too.

I remember, quite clearly, the effect that it
had on everyone around me... older sister, parents,
neighbors, etc.
We watched the funeral on our B&W TV set.
For me, it was surreal. In some ways, this
was my first experience with sudden death.
At 5 years of age, I knew that noone lived forever

[IRCA] Where were you on 22 November 1963?

2006-11-22 Thread willis

I checked in at 1525UTC this AM and things were popping...
in an odd kind of way.
639khz, for instance, would surge in and out over
periods of 5 seconds or so.
Carriers and or audio on 567, 594, 639, 675, 747, 756, 827, 855, 963, 972,
1134, 1287...
Nothing and I mean nothing on 1566.

Came back from the shower at 1558 and 747, 828, 972 were still holding their
own.

Re: [IRCA] 1566 in really late?

2006-11-22 Thread Bill Block

Nick

Today 11-22 I lost the audio from 1566 at 1414 and the carrier at 1425 with
local sunrise at 1410.

I don't suppose anyone was checking 1566 later on this morning on the
west coast?

The propagation monitor says there was a nice 1539UTC peak, but after
the enhancement, the signal stayed around 10 dB above the noise level
until the recorder shut down at 1800UT, and the raw data says that
something just wouldn't quit on 1566 (as opposed to 1565 or
1567). HLAZ signs off at 1800UT, but so did the recorder, so I
don't know if this really was the station, or just some very badly
placed narrowband noise.

Soif anyone could corroborate hearing at least a late carrier,
that would be assuring.

best wishes,

Nick

I know I'm not as proficient as you guys. How about 972... ? One of the
best ones here? HLCA.
Virtually armchair at times. Wow. OM and YL singing a slow ballad, now talk.

Might be a good morning in the making. At 1400UT, lots of fat
carriers, with varying degrees of audio struggling through. First
time that there's been audio on 963 in a couple of weeks for example.

You weren't kidding about 1206. Nice signal. My audio is a bit muddied,
but decent. Talk by female and music @ 0537 PT/1337 UTC
