The government will purchase cow urine from cow owners and then sell it to Ayurveda pharmacies like Patanjali Yogpeeth and Geeta Bhavan, which have volunteered to buy the product for use in manufacture of Ayurvedic medicines. The government plans to create a market later where cow owners can interact directly with buyers. According to Uttarakhand minister for animal husbandry Trivendra Rawat, 'We have got an order for 5,000 litres of cow urine per day from Patanjali Yogpeeth pharmacy, owned by Yoga guru Swami Ramdev, and Geeta Bhavan. Swargashram Rishikesh, too, has shown keen interest in buying cow urine for Ayurvedic medicines. We plan to buy cow urine though milk cooperatives at Rs 5 per litre.' The programme was launched in Kalsi, in Chakrata tehsil of Dehradun, earlier this month. The next phase will begin from Srinagar in Garhwal area later this month. Nearly 1,900 active milk cooperatives will be engaged to collect cow urine which will later be sold to Ayurvedic pharmacies. The urine of 26 species of cows, named Badri, has a richer herbal residue content compared to that of cows found in the plains. 'Badri' urine has a unique quality to treat cancer, claim experts. Ayurvedic chemists vouch for the medicinal properties of distilled cow urine. 'Cow urine has the same potential as Ciplox and Amoxicilin in allopathic medicines to fight diseases,' said Rakesh Bahuguna, an Ayurvedic chemist. The minister said Uttarakhand did not have the facilities to make cow urine concentrate and the government is keen to start a cow research institute. Mr Rawat visited Kanpur recently to study the upkeep of cow sheds being run in Uttar Pradesh. A team of officials also visited Jaipur to evaluate the work being done in Rajasthan. February 06, 2009 Friday Safar 10, 1430 Arrogance and a diseased mind By Sirajuddin Aziz IF we look around ourselves today, we will find many individuals afflicted with the disease of arrogance. The difference is only that there are varying degrees of the disorder; some suffer from it to a large extent, others betray only traces of it. The wise have long diagnosed arrogance as a disease. People who are afflicted are usually the types who are insecure or those suffering from some sort of inferiority complex. It is the display of pride which costs them dearly in this world and the next. Such people, Allah says, are most disliked among His beings, even if they harbour an atom of pride in their hearts. Islam sees arrogance as among the most despised of attributes because the essence of its teachings delves into utmost humility in mankind. The Prophet (PBUH) is quoted on pride: “One who possesses half a mustard seed of arrogance in his heart shall not be granted admission to paradise; and one who possesses half a mustard seed of faith shall not enter eternal Fire.” History is replete with examples of personalities infested with the ills of arrogance. History also provides us valuable lessons as evident in the stories of Satan, Nimrod, Pharaoh and the likes of Abu Jahl. They all came to a devastating end simply because they considered themselves worthy of all praise, and took pride in their power, pelf and position. On another occasion, the Prophet is reported to have said, “Whoever has an atom of pride in his heart will not enter paradise.” The extent to which Allah despises pride is evident from the fact that He did not consider the long prayers of Iblis when the latter refused to bow in front of Adam. Iblis’s pride was based on his assertion that he was created from fire while Adam was created from clay, and that fire was superior to clay. He was punished and denied Allah’s mercy for all times to come. It is clearly mentioned in the Holy Quran, “Allah will put the proud to disgrace and ill-repute (dishonour) in the hereafter.” We have examples in front of us where Allah and his messengers have despised even an atom of conceit. Then why as Muslims are we plagued with this menace is the question that begs an answer. Why can’t we follow in the footsteps of revered personalities, such as the Prophet and his companions, who despite having power and position never let an iota of vanity cross their hearts? Unfortunately, we have distanced ourselves from the lofty attributes of humility enjoined by Islam. We are unaware of the joy of completing our tasks ourselves; we consider it demeaning to run our own errands. The Prophet used to wash his own clothes, cook his own food and even clean his own house, and had no qualms about it; nor did he ever complain of hardship in life. The cause of vainglory is embedded in assuming superior knowledge, wealth, physical attractiveness, piety, family lineage, status, position and power on one’s part. All these attributes are meaningless to Allah, for He will judge a man or a woman on their character and conduct. One’s wealth, health, colour, caste and creed will be utterly irrelevant on the day of resurrection; only our deeds shall speak for us. Allah has said, “Perish man! How thankless he is! Of what did He create him? Of a sperm-drop. He created him and determined him, and then made the way easy for him. Then He makes him die, buries him, and then, when He wills, raises him.” The verse distinctly states the weakness of man, as he is brought into this world from nothingness by the glory of the Almighty, and subsequent to his transition from non-existence into existence. Allah grants mankind all the blessings in this world and then eventually man returns to a state of nothingness by the will of Allah, to be raised again on the Day of Judgment. The entire cycle depicts the sheer helplessness of mankind. No power except divine resolve can alter this inevitability. (105:1-5) US authorities have confirmed that birds collided with both engines of the US Airways flight that ditched into New York's Hudson River last month. Samples from both engines have been sent to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington so that the bird species can be identified. The engines did not appear to have prior problems, officials said. All 155 passengers and crew of Flight 1549 survived the landing on the Hudson, which made headlines worldwide. On Wednesday, the National Transportation Safety Board said an engine surge in one of the plane's engines two days before the crash was due to a faulty temperature sensor which had been replaced. Both the US Airways Airbus A320's engines had passed inspections before the crash, officials said. Flight data also showed there were no problems with the engines until pilot Capt Chesley B Sully Sullenberger reported hitting birds. The right engine remained attached to the airliner when it hit the water on 15 January. The left engine separated and had to be retrieved from the mud on the bottom of the river near where the jet ditched. Flight data show both engines cut out simultaneously and the sound of thumps could be heard after Capt Sullenberger's reported approaching birds. The plane had only managed to reach a top altitude of 3,200ft (975m). The 155 passengers and crew were rescued from the sinking aircraft by boats. Capt Sullenberger was the last to leave after checking the plane for any remaining passengers or crew.

Yesterday on National Geographic Channel was an interesting historical-biblical-documentary. It seems that when Joshua was playing loudly his trumpets outside the city Jericho... Jericho was not build ,yet. And 280 years later , when Jericho was finally built , it has never had any walls !!! So what do we learn here ?? 1- Joshua and Jericho never met . 2- there were no Walls outside Jericho-city 3- the Old-Testament, the Torah is a very inaccurate-propaganda-book . Thank you ! I want to make it clear that I had taken moral responsibility for the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992 and had resigned from the post of Chief Ministership, he said in a statement that came admist reports that Mulayam Singh Yadav-led SP had demanded his apology. The statement of Kalyan Singh, who recently left BJP and announced a tie-up with SP to defeat the saffron party, was released amidst reports that Yadav has been facing opposition from his Muslim supporters over the new alliance for the Lok Sabha elections. Muslims can never forgive Kalyan for his 'role' in the demolition, Muslim clerics belonging to institutions like Darul Uloom Deoband were believed to have told SP leaders who went to meet them. Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of the BJP Government at the time of demolition and his government was also dismissed by the Central government immediately. He was jailed for a day for contempt of court for not keeping the promise of protecting the monument. Singh, the Hindutva posterboy at the height of Ramjanambhoomi movement, said he believed that everyone has a right to be proud of his faith. While Muslims have a right to be proud of Islam, Hindus have equal right to be proud of their Hindutva. It's unfortunate that to realise their political ambitions some people are creating fissures among these two faiths, he said adding everyone's right to belief should be protected. But now social forces will expose this conspiracy of dividing the society, Singh said. He said that he has entered into 'friendship' with Yadav and it was not a 'political alliance'. In friendship conditions are not imposed. Therefore, there are no conditions in our friendship, Singh said. Stating that there were four objectives of his friendship with Mulayam, Singh said that the prime objective was to prevent BJP from assuming power at the Centre and to ruin its chances. The other objective was to implement principle of social justice, he said adding 'that means to ensure respectable and transparent participation of downtrodden in government, system and politics'. The third objective, he said was to rid the people of Terror unleashed by the BSP government in the state under which the common people were a harassed lot. Another objective of the 'friendship' was to 'establish Samajwadi Party government' in the Vidhan Sabha polls in the state. I am happy that to fulfill these objectives my friendship with Mulayam is being appreciated and welcomed by the people, especially those who want to ruin BJP, he said. Earlier, Singh claimed that Muslims did not see him as anti-minority and that he had never discriminated against them during his tenure as Chief Minister. Black, Jewish Vote for Obama May Signal a Renewed Tie But the Historic Allies Still Disagree on Many Issues By Marissa Brostoff and Rebecca Spence Thu. Nov 13, 2008 After months of predictions to the contrary, American Jews voted for president-elect Barack Obama in higher proportion than any demographic group besides African Americans. For many Jewish liberals, this was a watershed moment, marking a return to the days when blacks and Jews were thought to have a special relationship founded on a shared language of suffering and joint efforts to promote civil rights. Indeed, the numbers — 78% of Jewish voters went for Obama, as did 96% of blacks — suggest that the fabled political alliance between the two groups is in some respects alive and well. But voting for the same candidate doesn’t mean thoroughgoing political alignment. On many issues, public opinion and exit polls suggest, blacks and Jews occupy different corners of the Democratic Party’s big tent — and so, going forward, there remains the question of whether the issues most important to each group will be those that bind them together or those that drive them apart. “Liberalism is not of one piece,” said Steven M. Cohen, a sociologist of American Jewry at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. “Blacks are far more liberal in economic matters than are Jews. Jews are far more liberal on social issues.” On Election Day, nowhere were those ideological discrepancies more noticeable than in California, where it appears that blacks and Jews voted very differently on an initiative to ban gay and lesbian marriage. Statewide, about 70% of African Americans voted to ban gay marriage, according to exit polls. No statewide figures are available on Jewish voting patterns on the initiative, but in Los Angeles, only 16% of Jewish voters (versus 45% of black voters) supported the ban, according to a research group at the city’s Loyola Marymount University. Last year, a study conducted by the Pew Research Center found that 79% of Jews believed “homosexuality is a way of life that should be accepted by society,” compared with 39% of members of historically black churches. “Partly it has to do with religious commitments in the African-American community, and I say this as an Orthodox Jew,” said Mark Mellman, CEO of the polling firm The Mellman Group. “Every community is more religious than the Jewish community, by and large.” The discrepancy between blacks and Jews on gay marriage fits into a larger picture in which these groups, like others within the Democratic Party, may be Democrats for very different reasons. Indeed, the party’s triumph this year was rooted in its ability to form a coalition of groups as ideologically different as black and Jewish communities frequently are. “There’s an assumption that we’re all in this together,” said Ta-Nehisi Coates, a blogger for The Atlantic who has written extensively on race politics during this election season. “Were it so. I wish it were!” In reality, Coates said, African Americans’ loyalty to the Democratic Party is founded largely on the idea “that the Republican Party hates black people. It’s not really a disdain for Republican policies.” The Pew study found that 48% of members of historically black churches surveyed believed that the government should “get more involved in issues of morality,” while only 22% of Jews agreed with that statement. On the other hand, 53% of the Jews surveyed believed that the United States should actively participate in world affairs, while 64% of members of black churches felt that it was more important to focus on issues at home. Despite these differences, some Jewish liberals are trumpeting the results of Obama’s election as evidence of a renaissance of the black-Jewish political alliance that reached a high point during the 1960s. “I believe that the generation of Barack Obama is very connected to the Jewish legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.,” said Rabbi Marc Schneier, who heads an interethnic dialogue group called the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. “It took a generation to reconnect with the legacy of the black-Jewish alliance.” The divergence on the gay marriage vote is indicative of a different trend in black-Jewish relations: On many issues, the communities disagree but are not in conflict. Because gay marriage isn’t of primary importance to most members of either group, it reveals differences between the two communities without being a source of tension between them. “In the larger scheme of issues that will influence either black or Jewish voters, gay marriage is not going to be high up,” said researcher David Bositis of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a think tank that studies black communal issues. IF ever the Pak-US co-operative alliance against terrorism would crumble it will under the unbearable weight of drone attacks ordered by the CIA into the Pakistani territory. Invariably, these predators kill more innocent non-combatant civilians than suspected terrorists. It is not that the so-called terrorists use civilians as human shields; these pilotless machines have greater destructive capacity than the ability to differentiate between friends and foes. So there is this greater collateral damage. In some 22 drone attacks since last August the civilian losses have been overwhelming. But about losses the terrorists suffered reports are conflicting; however the very fact that despite Pakistan's serious objections the United States still needs them is an indication of their failure to make any significant change on the war-front. In fact, just the opposite is happening. In the wake of mis-directed drone attacks which cause mostly civilian casualties the traditional comradeship called 'Pushtunwali' comes into play. A kind of severe resentment builds up against the 'coward enemy' which employs un-manly surreptitious means to kill old and young, men, women and children. Aptly correct then is Prime Minister Gilani's assertion at the World Economic Forum's special session on 'Pakistan and its neighbours' that drone attacks are counterproductive as they unite them, the tribes and the militants. These attacks are counterproductive as they fuel militancy, he said and added: We are separating militants from public but when there is a drone attack they get united. In case the Americans have credible and actionable intelligence they should share that with Pakistan and we will take action, he said. Understandably, in the wake of drone strikes anti-Americanism is growing. There was the general feeling in Pakistan that with Barack Obama becoming the US president drone attacks would end - so much so that Prime Minister Gilani went on record to claim that with change of presidency in Washington drone attacks would be halted. This has not happened, causing not only embarrassment to the prime minister but a visible dent to the reputation of a person who has been catapulted to world's most powerful position on a promise of 'change'. Not only that; the Obama administration started off with bigger and deeper drone hits. Then came along Robert Gates, a follower of Bushism that President Obama has inherited, who claimed the attacks have the consent of Pakistani authorities. That is adding insult to injury. Practically at all levels, from the presidency to the foreign office Pakistan has denied having cut such a deal with the United States. The issues of collateral damage and counterproductive effect of drone attacks are no doubt contentious and deserve review in order to keep the anti-terrorism alliance on track. But more important and of greater concern to every Pakistani is violation of their country's airspace by the American drones. If our government has not permitted, which it insists it has not, the drone attacks then clearly fall in the category of blatant violations of Pakistan's sovereignty. If not today then tomorrow or the day after the government will be constrained to take up this issue at appropriate international fora. Before that happens the US government is expected to review its drone campaign to bring it in line with the anti-terrorism cooperation understanding. Not surprisingly, Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Erdogan, who was a participant in that special session, endorsed Prime Minister Gilani's position by maintaining that such a move just helps terrorists and does not serve any purpose.

The world's leading Scholars, thinkers and politicians, have not yet; come UP with a one Single most definition of terrorism or terrorist which will be acceptable to all. So Far, whoever has defined terrorism; it is either politically motivated or religiously biased. Therefore we are not able to develop common Consciences over this crucial issue. The matter even gets more complex when each country, state, Nation or a group of Individuals, Start creating their own definition according to their need. IF this latest trend, continues and the world peace loving majority did not come to a common ground on this issue, than those people who are Charged with political religious Zealous will keep their tunnel Vision, Focused only on very Few terrorist organizations namely Al Qaeda Few alike, While hundreds of Other terrorist groups (including Few States nations) Will continue their barbaric activities under our Noses, in the name of survival, self-defense, law and order, Civil disobedience etc etc. Therefore, we the common people, of this planet have the responsibility to Identify and Fight against all every evil, without any discrimination or personnel biased. Having said that, I would like to present you, with my understanding of this menace: Any one, who deliberately, in his right state of mind, causes harm to another, life or lives (Human and or Animal) and property (s) without any legal or Moral Justification, supported by the local (country, state) and or international law, in my humble opinion, is a terrorist and whatever, comes out, as a result, of his action, is Terrorism. By, anyone I mean, Single or a group of individuals, country, State or Nation and when I say harm, it could be anything From a Simple injury, harassment and vandalism to a killing, Massacre and Mass destruction as well as psychological, social and financial trauma to others. After this Explanation, it is not so hard to Figure out that Terrorism is not a new invention of 21st century, but Existed throughout human history. However, most of us start hearing about this, only after the unfortunate incident of 9/11. Even though, in the late 20th century we would hear sporadically, about terrorist activities but with the growth of Electronic media, especially the Internet, news are spreading in the world within matter of seconds, compare to days even months in the past. Here are few examples, of past, recent past and present, terrorists terrorism: 1. Long before Islam Christianity, Egyptian pharaoh expelled thousands of Jewish, Children, women, Elderly to Sinai dessert where they lived for Forty years. Even though considering the nature of Jews (not Jewish or Israelis), who might have created some problem For the king but no matter what, punishing the entire Nation For the mistake of only Few, Is not an Excuse. 2. Destruction (1st) of the Salomon's temple, a national heritage of Jewish, by Nebuchadnezzar and subsequent Exile of Israelites, from their homeland, is another example of an act of terrorism. However keep in mind, none of these People, mentioned in 12 were Muslims or Christians, but rather worshipers of kings, Queens or multiple other gods like today's Hindus in India. 3. Similarly, second third time destruction, of the Salomon's temple by the Greeks Romans respectively, who were either Zoroastrians or some other types of Polytheists. 4. The name of Yazeed, even to this very day, remind us, the earth shaking event of Karbala, when this evil terrorist committed the worst of the human's history, terrorism, by mercilessly martyring the grandson of our prophet (PBUH) and his entire family, including Children and women. This cruel man though was a Muslim by Faith but certainly not by deeds. 5. The entire world especially, Muslim Christian, Cannot forget the atrocity of the crusaders Who slaughtered hundreds of thousand, Muslims, their children, Females Elderly in a cold blood. These People, Just like Yazeed, were the Followers of a Peaceful religion but this time, it was Christianity. 6. Who can ever forget the world's most infamous terrorists namely Hitler Stalin, who killed millions of innocent People elsewhere, including in their respective countries. Interestingly, both were born Christian; however Stalin, in his adulthood became a communist. 7. Who is the inventor of Atomic bomb? Of course a JEW, Albert Einstein, Who used his God given brain and knowledge to produce an evil, for the destruction of his own race and Civilization? 8. Some throw their hands up in horror if anything is said to criticize the important personality, even if it is done with decency and respect. This is usually accompanied by subtle and not so subtle darts from those with the means to throw and transform them into the elements of media terror imposed on the peoples to sustain the unsustainable. Every criticism I make is always construed as an attack, an accusation and other similar qualifiers reflecting callousness and discourtesy towards the person involved. This time Id rather address some questions of many that could be raised and that the new President of the United States should answer. The following for example: Whether or not he renounces his prerogative as President of the United States --that his predecessors with few exceptions exercised as a right per se-- to order the assassination of a foreign political adversary usually coming from an underdeveloped country? By any chance, has any of his many assistants ever informed him of the sinister actions carried out by former presidents from the days of Eisenhower through the years 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, and 1967 against Cuba, including the mercenary Bay of Pigs [Giron] invasion, the terror campaigns, the introduction to our territory of a great amount of weapons and ammunitions, and other similar actions? It is not my intention to blame the current President of the United States, Barack Obama, for actions conducted by former presidents when he had not been born or when he was just a 6-years-old boy born in Hawaii to a black Moslem Kenyan fathers and a white Christian American mother. On the contrary, this is an exceptional merit of the U.S. society and I am the first to admit it. Is President Obama aware that for decades our country was the victim of deliberately introduced viruses and bacteria carrying diseases and plagues which affected people, animals and plants? Does he know that some of them like the Hemorrhagic Dengue Fever later became a scourge that took the lives of thousands of children in Latin America and that other plagues impinge on the economy of the peoples of the Caribbean and the rest of the continent as collateral damages that have yet to be removed? Does he know that several politically submissive Latin American countries, which are today embarrassed by all the damages they caused, also took part in such terrorist and economically harmful actions? Why is our country the only one in the world enduring the imposition of a disrupting Cuban Adjustment Act which promotes trafficking in persons and other events that take the lives of people, mostly women and children? Was it fair to impose on our people an economic blockade lasting almost 50 years? Was it right to arbitrarily demand from the world to accept the extraterritorial application of this economic blockade which can only bring hunger and shortages to the people? The United States cannot meet its vital needs without extracting large mineral resources from a great number of countries often limited in their exports of them by the intermediate process of refining. In general, when it is convenient to the interests of the empire, these products are traded by big transnational companies operating with Yankee capital. Will that country renounce such privileges? Islam is not a religion which accepts humiliation, and jihaad (in this case via email/internet) for the sake of Allaah Subhaanahu and His Holy Book is one of its main principles and one of the best of deeds in Islam. Millions of jobs that Americans relied on just a year ago are gone; millions more of the nest eggs they worked so hard to build have vanished. People everywhere are worried about what tomorrow will bring. What Americans expect from Washington is action that matches the sense of urgency they feel in their daily lives - action that's swift, bold and wise enough for us to climb out of this crisis. If nothing is done, this recession might linger for years. The US economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits. Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse. That's why I feel such a sense of urgency about the recovery plan before Congress. With it, we will create or save more than 3 million jobs over the next two years, provide immediate tax relief to 95% of American workers, ignite spending by businesses and consumers alike, and take steps to strengthen our country for years to come. This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending - it's a strategy for America's long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, healthcare and education. And it's a strategy that will be implemented with unprecedented transparency and accountability, so Americans know where their tax dollars are going and how they are spent. In recent days, there have been misguided criticisms of this plan that echo the failed theories that helped lead us into this crisis - the notion that tax cuts alone will solve all our problems; that we can meet our enormous tests with half-steps and piecemeal measures; that we can ignore fundamental challenges such as energy independence and the high cost of healthcare and still expect our economy and our country to thrive. I reject these theories, and so did the American people when they went to the polls in November and voted resoundingly for change. They know that we have tried it those ways for too long. And because we have, our healthcare costs still rise faster than inflation. Our dependence on foreign oil still threatens our economy and our security. Our children still study in schools that put them at a disadvantage. We've seen the tragic consequences when our bridges crumble and our levees fail. Now is the time to protect health insurance for the more than 8 million Americans at risk of losing their coverage, and to computerise the healthcare records of every American within five years, saving billions of dollars and countless lives in the process. Now is the time to save billions by making 2 million homes and 75% of federal buildings more energy-efficient, and to double our capacity to generate alternative sources of energy within three years. Now is the time to give our children every advantage they need to compete by upgrading 10,000 schools with state-of-the-art classrooms, libraries and labs; by training our teachers in math and science; and by bringing the dream of a college education within reach for millions of Americans. And now is the time to create the jobs that remake America for the 21st century by rebuilding crumbling roads, bridges and levees; designing a smart electrical grid; and connecting every corner of the country to the information superhighway. We have a choice to make. We can once again let Washington's bad habits stand in the way of progress. Or we can pull together and say that in America, our destiny isn't written for us but by us.
