Prof Tjia May On Nama yang Mendunia Begitu mendapat doktor, jadi selebritis atau birokrat. Ini fenomena khas golongan terpelajar Indonesia dalam ilmu sosial, ekonomi, sains, maupun teknologi sampai sekarang. Kalau ada daftar kekecualian, Tjia May On pasti masuk dalam barisan pendek itu. Dalam 33 tahun penelitiannya, individual maupun dalam tim, guru besar Fisika ITB kelahiran Probolinggo 25 Desember 1934 ini telah menerbitkan dua buku teks dan 190 risalah. Sebagian dipublikasikan di jurnal internasional Physical Review, Nuclear Physics, Physica C, International Journal of Quantum Chemistry, Review of Laser Engineering, dan Journal of Non-linear Optical Physics. Menyelesaikan sarjana fisika tahun 1962 dari ITB. Setahun kemudian memasuki studi fisika partikel di Northwestern University, AS hingga PhD tahun 1969 dengan tesis Saturation of A Chiral Charge-Current Commutator. Tahun 1966, risetnya bersama fisikawan CH Albright dan LS Liu masuk Physical Review Letters dengan judul Quark Model Approach in the Semileptonic Reaction. Studi partikel kuantum dan kosmologi relativistik, dua bidang yang mengubah pandangan dunia secara radikal-revolusioner awal abad XX tentang alam semesta dan asal-usulnya, baru dimasuki sarjana fisika Indonesia awal 1960an. Sepuluh tahun kemudian tercatat hanya lima nama yang punya otoritas bicara tentang kuantum dan relativitas: Ahmad Baiquni, Muhammad Barmawi, Tjia May On, Pantur Silaban, dan Jorga Ibrahim. Mereka angkatan pertama yang jumlah penerusnya relatif sedikit dibanding bidang fisika terapan. Sempat ikut riset di International Center of Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italia, yang didirikan fisikawan Nobel asal Pakistan, Abdus Salam, Tjia akhirnya meninggalkan fisika partikel dan memasuki riset polimer, optik nonlinier, superkonduktor. Dalam dua bidang terakhir ini namanya menginternasional. Telah membimbing puluhan mahasiswa sarjana, magister, dan doktor, Ketua Program Fisika Material Organik Terkonjugasi dan Superkonduktor ITB ini kini riset kerja sama dengan Belanda, mengajar di Fisika ITB dan program Optoelektronika UI, selain membimbing mahasiswa doktor dengan cara seorang guru sekaligus kawan. Ia seorang pembimbing yang aktif terlibat dalam riset mahasiswanya, kata seorang mahasiswanya. Mengapa Anda beralih dari fisika partikel? Sebenarnya bukan hanya saya. Di Indonesia fisikawan partikel zaman itu cuma tiga: Baiquni, Barmawi, dan saya. Baiquni (almarhum-Red) meninggalkan partikel karena jadi pejabat, di samping sebagai ketua jurusan fisika UGM. Barmawi dan saya kurang lebih senasib. Dia sempat beberapa kali ke Trieste mengerjakan riset fisika partikel. Karena datang sedikit terlambat, keburu Ford Foundation menarik sumbangannya, saya hanya sempat sekali ke Trieste tahun 1974. Sampai 78 saya sempat membimbing dua mahasiswa dalam partikel. Karena putus asa? Kondisinya tidak memungkinkan. Untuk mengerjakan fisika partikel, kita jauh sekali dari fasilitas eksperimental. Jurnal nggak ada. Kontak dengan luar negeri hanya sejauh kerja sama dengan ICTP dan itu sudah berhenti. Alasan pertama, topik itu sangat menuntut you have to be unusual. Kedua, pada saya mulai tumbuh kesadaran sosial: apa yang bisa saya pertanggungjawabkan dengan aktivitas itu. Apa benar bila saya arahkan mahasiswa ke sana sudah tepat untuk Indonesia? Saya mulai bergeser bersama Barmawi. Kami sempat mencoba kerja sama dengan Belanda dalam resonansi magnetik nuklir, yang penting karena negara kita kaya minyak. Minyak atau gas bumi adalah bahan pokok untuk meng-hasilkan bahan organik yang sangat penting, termasuk polimer. Saya masuk ke polimer karena itu pula. Kami mencoba menjual ide ke Pertamina, ke mana-mana, tapi gagal. Jadi, saya pindah karena mulai menyadari pendidikan di sini: fisika material mungkin lebih cocok, lebih penting di negara kita, dan punya pasar untuk melanjutkan studi maupun untuk kerja. Misalkan faktor eksperimen dikurangi. Dengan langganan jurnal dan jaringan luar negeri, fisika partikel teoretik bisa lebih dikembangkan di sini? Tentu. Ini sudah terbukti. Terry Mart di UI dan masih muda punya kebebasan yang jauh lebih besar berkunjung ke luar negeri mengadakan kerja sama. You can do phy-sics all by yourself. Kontak, diskusi, dan komunikasi sangat penting. Sekarang kenyataannya dia bisa bertahan. Di ITB ada beberapa orang dalam kelompok fisika teori. Tapi, Anda dulu memilih fisika partikel? Saya malu cerita itu sebab anak muda mana sih, yang enggak tergiur oleh sesuatu yang menantang secara intelektual, tapi juga ada unsur glamornya. Glamor? Pertama sebelum ke Amerika, saya sudah merasa the real physics must be fundamental physics. Nah, ini naif, harus saya akui. Begitu di Northwestern terjadi peristiwa menggemparkan. Lambda minus ditemukan. Gempar itu! Partikel itu sebelumnya diprediksi Murray Gell-Mann sampai pada massa, spin, dan isospinnya. Suasana begitu merangsang sempat menimpa saya. Jaman waktu masih di CNOOC, jadi helpdesk 24/7 untuk 3 shift oleh 4 engineer. Overall: - Shift pagi 06.00 - 14.00 (8 jam) - Shift siang 14.00 - 21.00 (7 jam) - Shift malam 21.00 - 06.00 (9 jam) Siang siang lebih pendek, karena sore hari regular-helpdesk (office hour) pulang dan banyak pekerjaan yg di handover, sementara produksi di offshore terus berlangsung. Banyak call yg terjadi sekitar jam 18.00 - 20.00 waktu employee yg overtime masih sibuk, plus karyawan offshore sedang break, dan semua ditangani sendiri. Sebaliknya shift malam lebih panjang, karena load pekerjaan lebih sedikit. Hanya sekedar memastikan scheduled-backup berjalan, menghitung tiket/SLA remedy, plus standby kalo ada sesuatu. Bisa sambil main game, nonton film (NBR memang, tapi yah... dimana2 special untuk mereka yg shift malam, selalu ada pengecualian), browsing, atau bahkan tidur, asal tetep bisa bangun setiap ada call/alarm :) Shift pagi/siang 4 hari + 1 hari libur. Shift malam 4 hari + 2 hari libur. Ritme berulang setiap 16 hari (4 pagi, libur, 4 siang, libur, 4 malam, 2 libur). Kagem ManggaDua Komputer / Muslih Virus pertama kali bekerja yang dilumpuhkan adalah antivirusnya, dari file pendukung dan registrynya dikunci sama si virus, kalo dah begini antivirus yang diinstal di kompie menjadi tak berguna, coba pakai ansav portable, pinjam kompie temen yang punya cd writer, terus bakar disitu, kalo pake flash disk juga percuma karena flash bisa ditulis seperti layaknya hdd sehingga virus pun akan melumpuhkan. Kagem bAKT Itu menggunakan VGA Extender Kang ! http://www.megatron.biz/vgaextender.htm selain itu juga dibutuhkan semacam alat 2 buah sebagai source dan destination. Harganya sekitar 2.3 juta. Jangkauan bisa mencapai 150 meter. Sebelum coba HijackThis, Check dulu computer anda dengan antivirus yang sudah di update (pakai Symantec / Trend micro sudah cukup) Karena percuma saja otak atik registry bila masih ada virusnya.. Kemudian pakai Hijackthis, apabila tidak ditemukan anda bisa pakai xp_emergencyutil (cari di google) Xp_emergencyutil ini berfungsi sebagai tools untuk menjalankan regedit, msconfig dll yang kemungkinan sudah di hijack. Setelah masuk regedit dari xp_emergencyutil, backup registry, search regedit.exe kemudian hapus entri result yang menggunakan Kata2 notepad.exe. Selamat mencoba ya, semoga membantu anda.. Dear all, Di komputer saya, ada 2 koneksi LAN, 1 memakai kable LAN, satunya lagi pakai Wifi. Bagaimana memilih prioritas pemakaian koneksi terutama ke internet, misalnya saya ingin memakai Wifi terlebih dahulu, baru apabila Wifi mati, koneksi otomatis pindah ke kable LAN. FYI, koneksi melalu kabel LAN memakai IP lokal (192.168) sedangkan Wifi memakai IP public. Sekarang ini koneksinya selalu memakai IP lokal, walaupun Wifi saya tetap hidup. halo, salam kenal saya andrie Saya menemukan ada masalah nih,beberapa waktu yg lalu saya sempat upgrade processor saya ke pIV 3.0 ghz dari pIV 2.8 ghz. Setelah dipasang pertama - tama processor ga kedetect 3,ghz tp hanya 2ghz. Saya cabut dan pasang ulang lagi processornya,akhirnya bisa jalan normal kedetect 3.0 ghz. Tapi muncul error message : ( CPU ûCode error ) press F1 to continue. pesan ini muncul setelah berhasil load storage drive. saya sudah coba rubah settingan di bios mengenai CPU code tapi tetap seperti itu.. (Apa Mobo-nya ga support,tp klo ga support kenapa bisa kedetect dan di windows jg kedetect 3ghz).? Sedangkan untuk windowsnya saya ada masalah lain, Jika kita plugin storage card atau apapun yg bersifat storage drive (usb,memory card) selalu muncul error message seperti ini = WINDOWS NO DISK = X there is no disk in the drive.Please insert a disk into drive \Devices\Harddisk3\DR5 CANCEL RETRY CONTINUE = Kalau kita pilih apapun selalu mucul drive2x yg error lainnya misal \devices\harddisk6\DR8 ,dst sampai 3 atau 4 kali. Itupun saya harus mengkombinasikan retry,continue,dan cancel (seperti input cheat pada game). kalau beruntung error messagenya hilang dan storagenya bisa dipakai lagi,kalau tidak pc langsung error Blue Screen (windows failed in memory kernel ...) kurang lebih begitu message blue screennya. Blue screen ini juga muncul saat copy file dari komputer lain melalui jaringan,tapi kalau dari komp saya ke yg lain ga masalah. Teman2x tolong solusinya,sebelum dan sesudahnya Terima Kasih. Dear All, Mau numpang tanya n minta bantuan nich, saya ada masalah m linux, saya sudah coba install ulang Linux (Ubuntu 7.10, PCLinuxOS2007, Blankon 2, Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Linux Mint, OpenSuse, dan Suse 9), proses installasi berjalan normal dan lancar, tapi pas mau masuk ke Linux, tiba2 layar monitor langsung Blank (Blank screen) kayak ga ada input. Saya udah coba masuk ke mode recovery secara normal maupun dengan nambahin command mulai dari ngerubah resolusi monitor jadi 800x600 maupun ganti fresh ratenya, tapi tetep ga bisa juga. Setahu saya : Yang HP, isi cartridge nya berupa headnya dan tinta. Yang Canon, Epson dan lainnya, head nya berada di printer dan cartridgenya hanya berupa tinta. Karenanya, yang non HP, harga cartridgenya murah dan banyak dijual cartridge non originalnya. Selain itu lebih mudah di modifikasi, misalnya dengan cara di infus. Mungkin sakelar on nya CPU setengah terhubung singkat. Coba koneksi ke sakelar itu dicabut, apakah hal tersebut terjadi lagi atau tidak. Kalau tidak, berarti sakelarnya. Kalau tetap begitu, mungkin ada yang memprogramnya agar menjadi demikian atau virus.
