Kalo Anda berencana menggunakan hardware lawas (seperti saya pake Palmtop HP 200LX yang isinya prosesor XT 8 MHz), maka saya harus pake Windows 3.0 (yang nyarinya serasa nyari jarum di pantai). Tapi kalo saya niat pake prosesor terbaru, tentu saya harus pake OS generasi baru juga. Mungkin ada orang yang kelasnya hard core seperti Anda... bersedia pake OS lawas karena kalo ada problem bisa troubleshoot sendiri... tapi asumsi Om Syiwa reply ke yang nanya subjeknya baru mau belajar Linux, saya rasa saran untuk migrasi langsung ke Fedora itu cukup bijaksana... karena support untuk ini akan jauh lebih mudah dibanding kita belajar software lawas (yang diistilahkan end of life oleh Om Syiwa). Saya jamin bikin despert kalo kita newbie coba belajar software lawas yang supportnya minim... mending belajar yang lebih baru aja deh... Ini mungkin yang dimaksud ama Om Syiwa dengan end of life... dear All, aku abis install mandriva 2006, dan punya pertanyaan2: 1. Waktu mau install printer di kde configuration peripheral, knapa kok seperti disable, trus nyoba add printer yang ada di jaringan windows (smb shared) jg gak bisa 2. Trus aku buka untuk network browsernya, disitu gak muncul satu workstation pun. padahal waktu aku coba ketik smb://192.168.1.xx , aku bisa masuk shared dir. pc lain 3. saya mo tanya tentang red hat, (kbetulan saya baru belajar ) :-P 1. SMB client udah saya install n aktifin, tapi saya kok gak bisa buka file sharing dari PC windows? 2. Gimana cara mount harddisk saya yang ada datanya windows, data saya ada di hda1, hda2, hdb1, hdb2,hdb3 dst? 3. saat saya mencoba memasukkan cd audio, kenapa cd tadi gak bisa kebaca? 4. Dear all, Nanya lagi nih. 1.untuk smb mounting, apakah setiap log on, saya harus nge-aktifin servisnya manual? 2. saya punya pengalaman; saya pernah install red hat, lalu saya milih Gnome. saya pernah coba masuk windows network pake samba client, pertama kali saya masuk, compie saya bisa brows semua workgroup dan domain yang ada. Namun beberapa saat kemudian, gak satupun kebaca . Untuk akses ke file share dari pc lain pun, saya harus masukkin passwrd berkali2. Kalau di dalam folder share tadi ada subfolder, untuk masuk subfolder itu saya harus masukin passwrd. begitu terus dst Beberapa saat kemudian muncul pesan error dari nautilus.. Apa sebenarnya yang harus saya lakukan bila terjadi lagi hal tsb di atas?apa saya harus mounting smb lagi? 3. Sebenarnya fungsi dari nautilus itu untuk apa? 4. Gimana cara update xmms? 5.
