[JAWS-Users] JAWS 9 with Focus 70 problem

2007-12-14 Thread Griffiths, Steve
I have a client using Word 2000 and she has noticed that the spacing on
the Braille display does not reflect what is on the screen when she
types in; she puts a single space between each word in the document and
on the display sometimes this takes up a single cell, sometimes 5 cells
and sometimes 13 or 14 cells. When she reviews the text the spacing is
okay. She is using the default Braille settings.

One option I can think of is to update her to Word 2003, but I wondered
if anyone else with JAWS 9 and a Focus has this issue and if so, with
which version of Word? Or if anyone using JAWS 9, a Focus and Word is
having no such problem; again the Word version would be useful to know.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts,
Steve

Hello Pattie ,
It was tested only in jaws 7, therefore it may or may not work in higher
versions
To make the scripts recognise by jaws 8 .
Please do the following :
 Go to your jaws shared
settings folder by going to
the start menu, programs, jaws eight, explore jaws,
and explore shared
settings. Then, delete the old yahoo scripts that are
already there. Once
they are all deleted, paste in the new scripts
. Once that's done, open up yahoo messenger. Once
your main contact
window is open, press insert q twice quickly. this
will put the
configuration information in the virtual viewer. Arrow
down until you find
configuration name, and copy the name to the
clipboard. the name should be
Yahoo Instant Messenger Main. Once that's done, go
back to your shared
folder, and rename all the new yahoo script files with
this name, but don't
change the extensions, however. When you've finished
with that, restart
yahoo messenger and it should work fine.
The above steps can be followed for other jaws versions as well.

Enhancements :
Fixed a problem where jaws read the incoming messages after a delay.
It was due to a change in constant in jaws version 8.
updated the .jsm file for users of jaws 9.
Included the code from jaws 9.
to read the chat line using alt + 1through 0.
Added a script to say the number and the name of the contacts who are online
for the users of jaws 9.

 Hope this is
helpful.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 9 with Focus 70 problem

2007-12-14 Thread Eric Damery
Hi Steve,

This email rang a bell for me. During the development phase of 9.0, we
did have two people who had been reporting this same issue. One in Word
XP, the other in Word 2003. It did get fixed and verified but both of
those testers. I'm trying to locate more details on exactly what it was
and will pass this along to you if and when I get that detail.

In the mean time, I would suggest you update the client to Word 2003 if
that is an option. I'm willing to bet this problem would be cleared up
and our developers certainly feel that the Word Document Object Model is
much better in Word 2003 than that which existed in Word 2000 so there
are other differences which should help justify it.

Regards,
Eric

Re: [JAWS-Users] Excerpting MP3 audio files

2007-12-14 Thread David Griffith
I would suggest that you use a utility from the Jaws User Program page.
Mp3DirectCut or GoldWave will do the job. I think there are others.

Mp3DirectCut has a very good automatic pause detection which will enable the
easy splitting of files. The pause detection is I think under the special
menu and you then simply use save split under the file menu to split the
files. You can select areas to split manually as well.

I think there are some audio tutorials on mp3DirectCut also.

I suggest you have a play first with Mp3DirectCut to see how you get on with
what you want to do. Use control O to open the file you want to edit. Press
space to toggle play and pause of the file. I think most of the commands you
need are in the menu bar.

Regards

David Griffith

[JAWS-Users] Winamp playlist editor help commands are missing in JAWS 9.0.515

2007-12-14 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi. This isn't so much of a problem with the actual program
itself, but on the list I run called winamp4theblind, I had a report
from a guy saying that the help for the specific JAWS commands while
in the playlist editor was broken in JAWS 9.0. I took a look, and
sure enough, he's right. To demonstrate what I mean here, do the following.

1. With Winamp open on the screen, press control plus tab until you
land in the playlist editor window. Note that if you press
control plus tab repeatedly and you don't see the playlist editor,
simply press alt plus e and that'll open it up.
2. Now that you're there, press jaws key plus h
JAWS will say, Use the following hot keys in the Winamp main window.
But since you're in the playlist editor, it should say, Use the
following hot keys in the playlist editor window.
Does anyone else notice this? If I had noticed this during the beta
cycle I certainly would've reported it as a bug, but I'm afraid I
missed this one.
BTW it doesn't matter which version of Winamp you're running so that
doesn't seem to be a factor. So I just thought I might see if anyone
else running JAWS 9 and using Winamp notices this?
Thanks.

I wish I'd noticed this during the beta cycle or I would've reported it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws and winamp

2007-12-14 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Yes, in Winamp, press the SayTitle keystroke, JAWS key+t. That's insert on a
desktop or caps lock on a laptop. Hope that helps.

[JAWS-Users] Place markers

2007-12-14 Thread Patti
Ok Gang,
On my computer running Jaws 9, windows XP home, and IE 7.
I put a lot of place markers on a webpage, but when I press ctrl shift 1 or any
number, all it says is ctrl shift 3 or whatever number I press.
In Jaws 8 I can go to the place marker I want, so now what do I do for Jaws 9?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Place markers

2007-12-14 Thread Victor Gouveia
Hi Patti,

I have noticed that this happens a great deal when you have placed the
placemarker on the web page, then, when you come back to that page, instead
of going to the placemarker, it simply repeats the keystroke you just
pressed.

I have found that this happens because the window has lost focus.

Before pressing the keystroke, make sure that you are on the page in
question, and make sure it has focus.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Excerpting MP3 audio files

Well, if the audio is suppose to run along with the video. Power
point would be your best bet for that one. allowing you to show on
any computer with power point viewer.

Hi folks,

My employer has asked me to excerpt portions of MP3 voice files and organize

I am absolutely 100% clueless as to how to do this. The files are compiled
from teleconferences and archived on our web site.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
I am running Jaws 8.latest and Windows XP-PRO.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Yahoo scripts

2007-12-14 Thread Arya
Hi Patti,
Try updating your yahoo messenger to version 8 ,as the scripts are
primarily written for that version.
It is not tested in version 7.5 as the support is built in from jaws7.
I hope this should solve this problem.

I did all of this, and alt 1 through 0 doesn't work.

On my other computer I did all that to. I'm running Jaws 8, windows XP
 home
IE 7, and yahoo 7.5.0647 beta, but when I'm in a message window it says
 6001610.
 I'm so confused as usually.

 Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Yahoo scripts

Added a script to say the number and the name of the contacts who are
 online
for the users of jaws 9.

 Enhancements for jaws 9
 Updated the jsm file,
Added a script to say the number and the name of the contacts who are
 online
 Hope this is
 helpful.
