Re: [JAWS-Users] Real Speak JAWS 9
Hi Vicki, When selecting a speech synthesizer, select SAPI5 and then go into the voices menu from there and select the RealSpeak voice you want. That has worked for me on Windows Vista, I don't know about earlier versions of Windows though; let us know if that doesn't work. [JAWS-Users] IE 7 tutorials
Hello everyone, I just upgraded to IE 7, and I don't really understand much about tabbed browsing. I would like to learn more about it, and how to use it better with jaws9. Re: [JAWS-Users] IE 7 tutorials
Hi Lisa, A Tab Brosing basically means opening two or more websites on the same window (or session as some people calls it). It is like using multipage dialog. Here are some of the commands: * To open a new website using a new tab (meaning same window), press CTRL+T. * To exit out of a website (not IE; it just closes the tab), press CTRL+W or CTRL+F4. * To move to the next webpage (TAB), press CTrL+TAB. * For prior page (TAB), press CTRL+Shift+TAB. I know there are some blindness tutorials out there that teaches IE7 from blindness perspective. I myself have covered IE7 exclusively on my Part 4 of my Guide to Vista tutorial (although it covers Vista, IE7 commands and concepts are same accross Vista and XP). Re: [JAWS-Users] MS word commands
Hi list: Need some jaws commands within Microsoft word 2003 and jaws 8. 1. What is the command for going from form fields within a template? Just press your tab key. 2. What is the command to select a item from a list box? To open the drop down list box, just press enter. Then down arrow to your selection and press enter. 3. How do I insert my Companies logo to the document for later printing? Place your cursor at the place in the document you want your logo and then do an alt I for insert. Type a p for, picture, then an f for, from file. Then navigate to the logo file and press enter. If you want Jaws to announce your picture, then do an insert v for versocity and type an B for borders and pictures, if it is off, press your spacebar to check and then press enter. Now as you arrow through your document it will announce your inserted graphic. Denny Huff Gateway FT Blind. LLC. (636) 262-1383 Having problems using Office 2007? Yes, I took a look at it and found that is wasn't protected. I did protect the form and you can now tab through the fields, but it still isn't very accessible with Jaws. Although it tabbed through the fields, Jaws did not announce what the fields were. Denny Huff Gateway FT Blind. LLC. (636) 262-1383 Having problems using Office 2007? That program is a specialty, but more over a friend of mine who goes by start button is the expert in that area. Never the less I do appreciate the quick reply. Hello David, How about an audio tutorial about how to set up, and use RSS feeds? I don't really know much about them, but I would like to learn. How are they different from pod cast's? [JAWS-Users] Jaws 9 Intel X3000 GMA graphics card
Greetings all, Wishing everyone a very happy and prosperous 2008, I intend to replace my current laptop with a Samsung Q45 notebook using an Intel X3000 GMA 3D 128 MB graphics card. I wonder if anyone on the list has used this graphics card with Jaws and have come across any issues? My second question is not Jaws related for which I apologize in advance, is it possible to set up file sharing between two machines running Vista business and Vista home premium respectively? Re: [JAWS-Users] JFW 9 and I Tunes
Hi: I have a friend who has an IPod Shuffle and uses XPlay. I realize this is a bit past Christmas, but it can be done. It's not as versitile as ITunes is for the sighted, but it works. I have played with ITunes, and it doesn't work well with JFW alone at all. David Griffith wrote: I personally have nothing but bad news in relation to I-Tunes and have found it to be completely inaccessible. I believe that it is possible to buy some scripts but the program is so screen reader unfriendly I personally did not want to go that route. There are clearly some blind users who have used the I-Pod but If it is at all possible to change your choice I would recommend the Creative Zen Stone1GB. This is completely accessible and will play files copied across simply with Windows Explorer with no need for irksome intermediate software. Operation is simple and file transfers are fast. If you want the copy protected stuff from sites like Audible.com then I believe the more expensive option of things like the Victor Reader Stream may be indicated.
