 Hi Mich,

 Try this.
 1. Open address with control, shift, plus b while in OE.
 2. Tab 2 times and make sure that Main Identities Contacts is checked and
not Shared Contacts. If Shared Contacts is checked arrow down 1 time to
Main Identities Contacts and that should fix the problem.

Re: [JAWS-Users] AVG 8 and JAWS Solution

2008-05-29 Thread Jerry Berrier
Michael,

I've done basically the same thing, and I thought at first the problem was
solved. I can access the AVG interface and read the status information. I
can go into some of the menus successfully, but it sometimes still crashes.
It crashed when I tried to change firewall settings, and, while typing this
message I stopped and went to the AVG interface, brought up the components
menu, arrowed down to E-mail scanner, opened it successfully, then changed
nothing but went to Save Settings and hit the spacebar. Bang, it crashed
again. I wonder if yours will do the same thing.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] AVG 8 and JAWS Solution

Hello everyone,

Below is a solution to the JAWS-AVG 8.0 problem that many of us have been
experiencing. Here is how the events unfolded:
I talked to someone at FS this afternoon regarding my continued problems
with AVG 8.0 and JAWS. I was told to download a fresh copy of the JAWS
9.0.2169 file directly from the website; the man I talked to said that my
update probably did not complete propperly. He instructed me to save the
file to the desktop and then run it and go to repair instalation. We got
confirmation that my update had not downloaded propperly when I was unable
to proceed with the install wizard because another version of JAWS was
already installed. The man directed me to uninstall JAWS and install JAWS
9.0.2169. I no longer have problems with JAWS and AVG.

One thing to note is that regardless of whether you are able to repair the
existing instalation of JAWS or you have to reinstall like I did, you must
remove/overwrite all existing user settings.

I hope this helps someone,
Michael

Hi David,
Even if it is accessible with Jaws, I believe that it may use the Citrix
terminal service, and that will require you to have the following:
Jaws Pro license
Remote access license for Jaws.
I don't rememver whether the host machine must be running Windows XP Pro, or
not.

I have seen on EBay a fairly cheap copy of PC Anywhere 11.5

As this is a Symantec product I am nervous about Accessibility.

The only trial I can find is for the expensive version 12.

Does anybody know if PC Anywhere 11.5 can be accessed with Jaws? I am
currently using Jaws 8.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook Express address book question

2008-05-29 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Mich,
It sounds like there may be another window that has popped up, and causing
Jaws not to read properly.
Try alt tabbing, or use the list of running applications, insert + F10,
to see if perhaps some security software is running.
Otherwise, try unloading, and then re-loading Jaws.

 Hi Mich,

 Try this.
 1. Open address with control, shift, plus b while in OE.
 2. Tab 2 times and make sure that Main Identities Contacts is checked and
not Shared Contacts. If Shared Contacts is checked arrow down 1 time to
Main Identities Contacts and that should fix the problem.

 Hi Mich,
It sounds like there may be another window that has popped up, and causing
 Jaws not to read properly.
Try alt tabbing, or use the list of running applications, insert + F10,
to see if perhaps some security software is running.
Otherwise, try unloading, and then re-loading Jaws.

 Hi Mich,

 Try this.
 1. Open address with control, shift, plus b while in OE.
 2. Tab 2 times and make sure that Main Identities Contacts is checked and
not Shared Contacts. If Shared Contacts is checked arrow down 1 time to
Main Identities Contacts and that should fix the problem.

Re: [JAWS-Users] PC Anywhere 11.5

2008-05-29 Thread shparker
David,

I believe PC Anywhere works by transmitting video images directly from the
server's video card to the client computer's monitor. This means that the
client computer doesn't receive any data through its video card, and
therefore, Jaws is unable to interpret it. In other words, it is completely
inaccessible, at least in my experience.

 Hi David,
Even if it is accessible with Jaws, I believe that it may use the Citrix
terminal service, and that will require you to have the following:
 Jaws Pro license
 Remote access license for Jaws.
I don't rememver whether the host machine must be running Windows XP Pro,
 or

2008-05-29 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi Mich,
Try this just to see if your address book is your selection in Internet
Explorer.
1. Go to your Desk Top and find Internet Explorer and press space bar to
select it.
2. Press enter to open it.
3. Press alt plus t for tools.
4. Press o for options.
5. Now control tab to the programs page.
6. Tab over until you hear contact list. It should say address book right
after contact list.

I am asking this to see if your computer recognizes your address book as
your main source of contacts.

 Hi Mich,
Try this just to see if your address book is your selection in Internet
 Explorer.

 Hi Mich,

 Try this.
 1. Open address with control, shift, plus b while in OE.
 2. Tab 2 times and make sure that Main Identities Contacts is checked and
not Shared Contacts. If Shared Contacts is checked arrow down 1 time to
Main Identities Contacts and that should fix the problem.

How do I access the scan settings? I want to make the scan high priority so

I hope this helps someone,
Michael

David,

I believe PC Anywhere works by transmitting video images directly from the
server's video card to the client computer's monitor. This means that the
client computer doesn't receive any data through its video card, and
therefore, Jaws is unable to interpret it. In other words, it is completely
inaccessible, at least in my experience.

 Hi David,
Even if it is accessible with Jaws, I believe that it may use the
Citrix terminal service, and that will require you to have the following:
 Jaws Pro license
 Remote access license for Jaws.
I don't rememver whether the host machine must be running Windows XP
 Pro, or not.

 Hi Mich,
Try this just to see if your address book is your selection in Internet
 Explorer.
 1. Go to your Desk Top and find Internet Explorer and press space bar to
 select it.
 2. Press enter to open it.
 3. Press alt plus t for tools.
 4. Press o for options.
 5. Now control tab to the programs page.
 6. Tab over until you hear contact list. It should say address book
 right
 after contact list.

I am asking this to see if your computer recognizes your address book as
 your main source of contacts.

 Hi Mich,

 Try this.
 1. Open address with control, shift, plus b while in OE.
 2. Tab 2 times and make sure that Main Identities Contacts is checked
 and
not Shared Contacts. If Shared Contacts is checked arrow down 1 time to
Main Identities Contacts and that should fix the problem.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Avast.

2008-05-29 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi Sue,

What I do is check local discs, check archives, move the slider to 100 per
cent, then I start the scan. After starting the scan I move the Jaws cursor
to the PC cursor with insert plus Jaws cursor Key, then press control plus
home key to go to the top of the page. Now you can arrow down and there is
all the information you are looking for. There is a percentage of scan
complete line, viruses found if any, time it took to complete the scan,
total amount of files scanned, and a couple of other things I'm not thinking
of at the moment. After starting the scan, switching to the Jaws cursor,
and moving to the top of the page I arrow down to completion percentage line
and leave the cursor there so that I can come back to the computer and use
the say line keystroke to read how much of the scan has been completed.
When the scan is completed then you can arrow up and down for the rest of
the information you are seeking. I hope these steps work for you.

  your settings folder,
select your new default and copy it with control
 c.
  still in that folder hit
control v. You should get either a file called
 copy
  of default.jss or
default (2).jss. rename the first default in that
  folder to default0 and the
second one to default. Open your first default
 with
  script manager and
compile it with control s. Now open your second
  default with script manager
and delete everything. Now put the following
 exactly
  is it appears:
  use default.jsb
  use skypewatch.jsb
  Now press control s.

Re: [JAWS-Users] PC Anywhere 11.5

2008-05-29 Thread aiden gardiner
hi David,

You could try using a VPN connection, which actually replicates your desktop
exactly without just transfering a graphical representation over the
network, and the connection itself is heavily encrypted, so it's more secure
in the long run, although i'm not sure whether you'll still need the remote
access licence. i suggest you contact FS tech support about that.

 David,

I believe PC Anywhere works by transmitting video images directly from the
server's video card to the client computer's monitor. This means that the
client computer doesn't receive any data through its video card, and
therefore, Jaws is unable to interpret it. In other words, it is
 completely
inaccessible, at least in my experience.

 Dear Rick

 Thanks for info.
I have Pro version of Jaws and XP Pro. I do not have a remote access
licence though. I have not heard of this before. I will have to
 investigate what this is.

 Hi David,
Even if it is accessible with Jaws, I believe that it may use the
Citrix terminal service, and that will require you to have the following:
 Jaws Pro license
 Remote access license for Jaws.
I don't rememver whether the host machine must be running Windows XP
 Pro, or not.

 Hi Mich,
Try this just to see if your address book is your selection in Internet
 Explorer.

 Mike

 Hi Mich,

 Try this.
 1. Open address with control, shift, plus b while in OE.
 2. Tab 2 times and make sure that Main Identities Contacts is checked
 and
not Shared Contacts. If Shared Contacts is checked arrow down 1 time
 to
Main Identities Contacts and that should fix the problem.
