Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws punctuation setting question
You could try using Dictionary Manager to substitute space for apostrophe. I have not tried this with your setup. However I have done this to substitute space for ( and ) as I have had to read a lot of legal stuff and Jaws reading every ( and ) irritated me. Technically you should be able to adjust this in configuration manager but even with tech support present at my PC we could not successfully amend punctuation settings. For some reason the settings did not work on my version of Jaws 8, this sounds like the same problem you are getting. In the end I resorted to the Dictionary Manager method which has worked well. [JAWS-Users] jaws punctuation setting question
Here is a question from a friend. I don't know the answer because I only use some punctuation. Hi, all, I have probably a very simple question here, but I can't figure it out. I like to have my JAWS set to say all punctuation, because in my opinion, JAWS doesn't have enough expression to convey to me how people are saying things. Anyway, my question is this: I have it set to all punctuation, but I don't want it saying ' in the middle of every contracted word, such as "don't, doesn't, isn't, etc." How do I fix it so it won't do that? It's annoying, but I don't want to set it to "most" punctuation, because then it won't give me periods and exclamation points. I know some of you prefer to read without the punctuation, but it personally bugs me because I can't glean the tone of a person's email when I do that. I've gone into utilities, as someone told me to do, and tried to customize the punctuation that way, but it's still giving me the ' in every contracted word. I may just have to live with it, but if there's a way to change that, it would be great to know how. Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws & voices
Hi, That would all depend. Basically, you would probably want to find the .exe file associated with these voices. It would probably be called something like setup.exe. It should bring up an install shield that will guide you through the setup process. Without knowing anything else about the voices you have, that's all I can tell you. Re: [JAWS-Users] loading indication
Hi, Pressing JAWS key+F2 will take you into the list of JAWS managers. Arrow down and press enter on "Adjust JAWS Options". This will take you into a tree view. Open the group of options called "general options" with right arrow. Arrow down until you hear something about progress bars. It will probably say something like "Progress bars - spoken." Press space bar until you hear it say "silent". Tab until you hear "execute button" and activate it with space bar or enter. That should fix the problem. Re: [JAWS-Users] forms mode keeps turning itself off
I sometimes have this problem is I am trying to access a web page before it has completely loaded. Are you waiting for Jaws to say 100% before trying to access the forms fields on a page? If you are then Jaws will sometimes just dump you back up to the first part of the web page as it completes its loading. I can usually get it to stay on by hitting it a second time, but this is a new occurrence and I wonder if one of my HTML settings could be incorrect. Re: [JAWS-Users] C cleaner.
Hi, are you behind a proxy server? For some reason programmes don't like being behind proxy servers unless they're bypassed in some way or you configure the programme correctly to connect to the proxy server. I know I have similar issues with my programmes, despite me using a programme to bypass the thing! I just get on with it and update my Avast and Super Antispyware manually. Windows Update, well, that's another thing for another topic. Anyway hope that helps. -- Chris Hallsworth E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] MSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Original Message - From: "sue morgan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Friday, May 30, 2008 1:09 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] C cleaner. > Hi. > > I run C cleaner at least once a day and I've got it set to automatically > check for updates.
