Subject: [JAWS-Users] Navigating in Vista and Windows Explorer

Hi. I must say, moving around in Vista's Windows Explorer is rather
confusing. I had some sighted help to get the layout to look a little more
like it did in XP, but navigating is still baffling. My question is general
at this point. Are there any tips or tutorials available for Windows
Explorer while in Vista for us JAWS users? A matter of fact, my question
goes for Vista as a whole. I looked on the Freedom Scientific Web site, but
I didn't locate any helpful documentation on Vista. although, I suppose I
may have been looking in the wrong place. Thanks for any help.

Hi, Outlook has never been, and will never be, free. You either have to
 buy
it standalone or buy a version of Office that supports Outlook. If you
 meant
Outlook Express, then yes that's free as it comes with every version of
Windows since Windows 98. Hope this helps.

No it can not work with a 64 bit system. Eric stated back in January that 10
might possibly but he wasn't sure at that time. Also folks I understand that
a public beta for 10 might be out toward the end of this month. That's all I

I heard it that the end of this month FS will publish the first public

And why does FS every time the versions bring out the first 8, 9 then 10

Let's not get confused between the 64-bit operating system which JAWS up to
now cannot work with, and the dual-core, 64-bit processors which JAWS may
work well with - being hardware components on which Windows XP 32-bit can be

This is very interesting because I installed it and it was running somewhat
peculiar in demo mode. I did need to uninstall the yahoo toolbar and that
seemed to help. I did notice some strange behaviors but did not have a lot
of time to play with it. What I was noticing was it was skipping things
when reading back. I often had to use the JAWS cursor to read things It
also would not let me cut paste. The biggest issue is when I go to
register through the ILM process it will not let me. I'm wondering if JAWS
will not allow this due to the 64 bit processor?

thanks'

 Hi Eric and listers,

I heard it that the end of this month FS will publish the first public
 beta of JAWS 10?
What will the 10th version have versus the 9th?
And why does FS every time the versions bring out the first 8, 9 then 10
and not 9.5 or so? Every time the next version is out it costs always an
 SMA...

Are there anywhere saved or so an recorded audio files about the seminar

had that by FS cast for what's new in JAWS 9 done so far I remember me.

2008-08-02 Thread Demetry
Sorry, I mistook the the 64 Bit systems with the Windows versions.
Yes, That's true. Under 64 Bit processors you can work fine with Windows
32 Bit and JAWS 9. But, it will not work under Windows 64 Bit Operating
Systems.
I my computer I have 64 Bit Dual Core Processor when I don't need the
screen reading software would be surely changed.

of time to play with it.

Let's not get confused between the 64-bit operating system which JAWS up
 to
now cannot work with, and the dual-core, 64-bit processors which JAWS may
work well with - being hardware components on which Windows XP 32-bit can
 be
 put.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Can JAWS 9 Work With Vista 64 Bits

2008-08-02 Thread aiden gardiner
Hi lisa,

As far as computers go, you maybe aware that the only thing a computer reads
is binary code, or zeroes and ones. A bit is either a 0 or a 1. a 32 bit
processor can accept 32 bits per binary sequence, and a 64 bit processor can
accept 64 bits per sequence. An example of binary code could be, if you had
a 16 bit processor, and you typed the number 256 into the machine, to the
CPU, it would read like this. 0001.

Hope I haven't confused you,

Aiden

Let's not get confused between the 64-bit operating system which JAWS up

work well with - being hardware components on which Windows XP 32-bit can

2008-08-02 Thread WESLEY BURDEN
Hello stewart try to hit the f6 key then type in your address and see if
that reads it back to you. That's what I use the f6. When you press the f6
key it should say http then you can type your address in there.

Re: [JAWS-Users] google is playing up i think

2008-08-02 Thread Carlene Knight
Hi Marilyn:

That's just the nature of the beast I think. If you had a mouse and wanted to
perform a search without typing something in, it would be very easy to just
click on something on the list and resume a search you had started or to go
bacvk to a page in a previous search. You are in an edit field and if you were
to click on one of those, it would automatically fill in the edit field for you.
I don't think there is a way of getting rid of that feature.

Re: [JAWS-Users] google is playing up i think

2008-08-02 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Ah! As Sky uses the Gmail servers, you need to tell your programme to use
recent mode. Here's how to do it:
1. In Outlook Express, press alt t to open the tools menu, then press a to
open the account properties dialogue box.
2. Select your Sky account in the list, and press alt p to open the
properties dialogue box.
3. Control tab one time to the servers page, tab to the account name edit
field, press the home key to route your cursor to the start of your account
name, and type the word recent followed by a colon, so it looks like this:
recent:stuartross
4. Tab to ok and press enter.
5. Tab to close and press enter.
6. Do a send/receive with control m.
Hope this helps.

I know what you mean. I just ignore it though because as you say, we hardly
ever want to return to a previous search. Even if we get rid of them for our
convenience I believe they are still on record somewhere within Google.
