[JAWS-Users] Sudden trouble with MicroSoft Word spellcheck
Hi folks, I've run into a sudden problem in Word and am not sure if it's Jaws related or Word related. In Spellchecking, I now get no speech in the box where my incorrect text is being displayed. Usually, Jaws speaks out the word in question, prefacing it by speaking: Not In Dictionary, or, if it is a grammar problem, something like: Fragment, and then reads out a suggestion, if any exists. Now, however, in the spellcheck window, it simply reads Type In Text, but not the window content , and no suggestions. Nothing seems to have changed in my spellcheck pane insofar as the options I have checked off (check grammar with spelling, always offer suggestions, use main dictionary, U.S. English, etc.). Has anybody run into this problem? I've got 26 chapters and 90 thousand words left to check, and doing it manually isn't a pretty thought! Insert-f7 should read it when it doesn't happen automatically. I know that doesn't solve the actual problem, but might help with the immediate need. Re: [JAWS-Users] question about using the Cleanup funtion in Juce.
yes, you are. You need to choose to unsubscribe by deleting or removing an actual subscription. If you didn't do such a thing, you are still subscribed. As long as your podcast feeds are mentioned in the subscription tab control, you can investigate how many episodes there are to download or already downloaded (that is, removed or skipped) by tabbing into the list view there. Removing from the library as well as the downloads folder is quite normal, indeed I think it's the default. - Original Message - From: Mich [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: JAWS-Users-List @jaws-users.com JAWS-Users-List@jaws-users.com Sent: Wednesday, November 12, 2008 11:02 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] question about using the Cleanup funtion in Juce. Hi Lisa, Either your verbocity settings with insert+V or the configuration manager using insert+F2 and arrow down to configuration manager will have this option for you. In configuration manager, press alt+S and arrow down to html settings. I think it's in one of the tabs, but don't quote me on that. Smile. I'm sorry I can't be more exact, but it's been a long time since I've had to play around with that setting. Worse case scenario, you can always turn it off in the manage add-ons option in internet explorer or what ever browser you use. You may not always want to ignore flash on all sites. However, if you press insert V, while on a site, and down-arrow to flash on and turn it off with the spacebar, you can turn off flash temporarily. Is there a way to make jaws ignore flash on all web sites? Does anyone know how I can fix this problem, so that jaws isn't sluggish on web sites? Re: [JAWS-Users] Thunder,
Thunder is very limited compared to JAWS. It can read email using Outlook Express, browse the web using its own accessible browser called WebbIE (but not Internet Explorer) and navigate around the desktop, start menu and control panel. It has some limited functionality with MS Word, but is nowhere near as comprehensive as JAWS. But of course, its free, so it's worth checking out. NVDA is a better choice if you're looking for a free screen reader and your needs are limited to email, web browsing and word processing. - Original Message - From: Michael W Moran [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Wednesday, November 12, 2008 2:41 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Thunder, Does anyone know about thunder screen reading software? Nothing seems to have changed in my spellcheck pane insofar as the options I have checked off (check grammar with spelling, always offer suggestions, use main dictionary, U.S. English, etc.). Has anybody run into this problem? I've got 26 chapters and 90 thousand words left to check, and doing it manually isn't a pretty thought! [JAWS-Users] SAY ALL PROBLEM WITH JAWS 9
When using Outlook Express, I have chosen Crystal 16 as my Say All Voice. Yet, for some odd reason, I get Tom, one of the American voices which either reads a line or two and then is replaced by Crystal 16 or reads the entire document. I'd like to get this setting fixed so that it reads with my chosen voice, not some arbitrary voice coming out of Heaven knows where. Can anyone make a suggestion or two as to how to correct this problem? John and Linda Justice With guide dogs Jake and Zachary My job feeds my family, music feeds my soul. Re: [JAWS-Users] Sudden trouble with Microsoft Word spell check
Have tried both the INSERT+C suggestion and the INSERT+F7 command, still nothing. Thanks much for your responses, Ann and Alex. At this point, I would gladly take a band-aid solution. ;) Best, Joe Monks Every day you haven't written is a day you've written off... Re: [JAWS-Users] SAY ALL PROBLEM WITH JAWS 9
Hi John, I don't really know what is happening, but I think it is a timing problem. Mike is probably preloaded by default and it takes some time to load Crystal. When I added more memory to my laptop, delays in starting the Say All voice were essentialy eliminated. [JAWS-Users] goldwave recording input issues revisited in V5.23
I still have not resolved my Goldwave recording issues for switching from recording from the internal laptop mike to input from another source like a radio station on the internet. So, I am thinking about going back to maybe v5.22 or even maybe v5.10 to troubleshoot recording issues. Since I have already used prior versions and installed prior GoldWave jaws scripts is there going to be any conflicts? Thanks.
